Chalet Chimère is situated in a peaceful corner of the historic village of Leysin, at 4,500' altitude, with superb mountain views to the south east (Les Diablerets, Glacier 3000), the South (Villars) and the south west (Les Dents du Midi and Mt Blanc).
At the heart of the Alpes Vaudoises, Leysin is situated in the French-speaking area of Switzerland, with a multi-lingual population, many of whom are involved with several international schools (including Leysin American School) based in the area. Famed for its sunny climate since the end of the 19th Century, the original specialist clinics have now been converted into school and apartment accommodation.
This charming property was recently completely renovated and enlarged, supervised by the award-winning British architect George Baxter, and fitted with magnificent floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, state-of-the-art insulation, wood burning stoves and central heating, 3 modern kitchens, 4 bathrooms, 3 dining areas, 3 living areas. The chalet is comprehensively cabled for hi-speed Internet, with dual WiFi systems, Satellite and Internet TV/Radio.
The chalet offers several accommodation options for singles and couples through to complete family accommodation for 8 - 10 adults, with 4 generously-sized bedrooms and 3 living areas.
The well-kept garden is available for guests to use for summer picnics, fresh seasonal herbs are grown and a small mountain stream runs alongside the property.
The winter season from the middle of December through to April, offers a snowsport paradise, with excellent facilities for skiers, boarders and skaters, and a novel toboggan course. The ski area is mainly for intermediates and beginners, although there are some challenging runs for more advanced skiers. The lift system is well-designed, and generally queue-free, even during the February peak season. Leysin is part of the Alpes Vaudoises ski area and passes are available to cover Les Mosses, Les Diablerets and Villars.
Spring, summer and autumn are perfect for walking, climbing, tennis and swimming, and the nearby adventure park in Aigle, and the water park at Le Bouveret, are favourites for the younger visitor. Lake Geneva is nearby and there are many opportunities for exploration, including the stunning Chillon Castle, just outside Montreux.

The professional owners are based in England, but spend as much time as possible at Chalet Chimère, helped by the excellent road, rail and air connections via Geneva, and the motorway system in France and Switzerland from the UK/French Channel ports.
Why the Owner Chose Leysin
We were looking for complete peace and quiet, with good travel connections from major European cities. The situation of the chalet is exceptional, with breath-taking views throughout the year, and the three distinct seasons. Proximity to snow sports and the sports centers in the village was also important.
The Unique Benefits of this Chalet
Quite often, in any season, the chalet can be sitting under clear, blue skies, with clouds far below covering the valley, which runs from Montreux through Aigle eastwards to Les Diablerets and Gstaad. From some points in the village, there are also excellent views of Lake Geneva, and the nearby French mountain range of Les Dents du Midi.
