Enjoy Cooking?: The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking any of your favorite dishes. The knives are sharp, the pans are heavy restaurant-quality. There's a Kitchen Aid mixer, Ice Cream maker, Espresso machine, all sorts of baking pans, pie tins and muffin trays. There's even a Waffle Maker, coffee grinder and espresso machine for your lazy mornings! And, you'll be cooking on a gas range of course.
The kitchen sink is a big and extra deep-- large enough to brine a turkey in. And the kitchen island is a huge flat working surface made of Adirondack Granite from the local garnet mines. We love it!
Clean up is no problem using the large capacity super quiet dishwasher.
Skiing at Whiteface: Whiteface Mountain--Greatest Vertical Drop in the East! Juniper Hill Loj is 1 mile away from the entrance! The mountain is so close (see the pictures!) that we use our walkie-talkies to communicate with the kids when they are skiing! You'll never fight traffic through the notch to make it in time for the first powder of the morning! And, Lake Placid is only 10 miles away--so, after a day of skiing, a fine evening out is very close by!
Ironman Lake Placid: We love IronMan! The house is in a great spot for it being a mile from the bike course. We usually watch the race at the out-and-back in Wilmington which is just a mile away. Remember, at the out-and-back you can stay in one place and see your Ironman 4 times on the bike loop! Parking there is really easy and you don't have to travel on the bike loop to see the race. Since the house is not directly on the bike route there are easy options for traveling either direction towards Keene or Lake Placid--at any time of day. Wilmington is a great, central location to spend your Ironman week--just a bit beyond the chaos of Lake Placid, Very easy to get around on race-day for your cheering squad. Book it now!

The house was lovely. Amazing views. Super kitchen and bathroom. Enjoyed the sauna. Kids loved the piano and also the loft area because of tv and computer. We were a bit nervous about all the pottery up there...... So easy to knock over.... No accidents fortunately. The lamp in the kids room next to the lego underneath the bed is not working..... The bedrooms are a bit small and makes it tough for luggage. The area near the stove is helpful for extra stuff. The stove was not needed - surprisingly. When we used it, the temp got too hot in the bedrooms. Thanks again for letting us stay. We would come back again. Hope our comments are helpful. AstridDid you find this review helpful? We had a December family get together in the mountains at this property. The owners were great to work with, the home was beautiful and relaxing. There were great instructions on how to operate and care for everything. It is definitely as lovely and clean as the pictures show. The sauna was clean and very relaxing. A wonderful view and a great cabin in the sky. We explored Ausable Forks, Upper Jay, and of course Lake Placid. It's always fun driving a few hours norht of home to visit the High Peaks. Hot Sticky weather and a great full moon followed by a cool, violent thunderstorm Sunday night. Thanks for sharing your cozy house. PS Enjoyed stretching on the deck...."in the buff". We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend in this great spot! Skiing during the day (5 minutes away) followed by a hot sauna and then dinner in Lake Placid at night (10 minutes away). Does it get any better? Yes! The view in the morning sun was stunning! Everything was as advertised and it was a bit larger than we expected. the Kitchen and living area was really great to hang out in. One tip...Careful turning around in the driveway! The house is well located and the view is great. But this holiday turned out to be a nightmare. My mother in law visited us (unexpected) and brought her dog (unexpected). This was forbidden within the contract but what could we do? Well, the owner decided to keep the full security payment despite the fact that the dog (a small one) did no damage at all (!!!). Then he refused to justify his decision. And then I have to spend time with HomeAway to try to find a solution. A nightmare! The paradox is that the house is already full of small animals, including bugs and even fieldmouses, who clean the floor kitchen even when you are there. Avoid at all price…Owner response: We take pride in providing our guests a pet-free environment and may folks have told us how much they appreciate knowing that they will not have to worry about pet allergies, pet dander or a clean area outside where their kids can play. I'm sorry our recent guest chose to categorize his entire visit in this way. He vacationed with a dog in our house and our rental agreement is very clear about not allowing pets.

We were looking for a house/cabin close to Whiteface mountain. The location was perfect (only a 5-10 minute drive). The view from the kitchen / living room was breathtaking. We were able to enjoy the sauna & outdoor fire pit. The way that the house is decorated and situated made the stay comfortable. One critique is that there are a lot of stairs and only one shower. We had 6 people and getting ready for dinner was time consuming as we had to wait to use the shower. Lake Placid was a very cute town (we went ice skating and walked around) & was only a 15-20 minute drive from the house. Overall, great experience and would book again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Excellent house with stunning views. Pros: private, great dining and family area, great for kids, fantastically equipped kitchen, great sauna. Cons: bedrooms are little bit small. The owner is great person to do business with and all questions were resolved in a timely manner.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We enjoyed our stay - the loj is ideally located close to Whiteface with the spectacular view advertised. The amenities are generally very nice - there is a well-resourced kitchen area, a charming living room area (with the spectatular view), dishwasher, big eating area. A cross between a true rustic cottage experience (complete with the obligatory mice) and a more upscale loj. The loj is not as big as we expected based on the photos, as half the building is closed off. There is no master bedroom in the rental area, and the two small bedrooms in the basement suffer from poor air quality, being close to the oil tank, with strong fuel oil smell, as well as smoke from the wood stove, which has a strong tendency to smoke. Still, all in all a comfortable place to hang out after skiing - and we had a lovely time.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We had a great family adventures hiking and going on the gondola ride up Whiteface. The view from the deck is awesome! Our 5 year old enjoyed the toys and books. Our vacation was very special.
