The unit is immaculate and well designed for families. The owners were very responsive and great to deal with. The property in general is fantastic with great pools, a beautiful beach and access to a host of activities. We really didn't want to leave and are already thinking about our next trip. After leaving a snowy cold winter in Canada and arriving in Hawaii we were happy to be greeted with the warm weather of Maui. Then when we walked into our condo in Kaanapali, all we could say was WOW. This condo was fantastic, with everything that had been promised, large living space, king size beds, fantastic kitchen and top of the name appliances, what could anyone ask for more. With all of the extra items that had been promised such as the beach chairs, boogie boards, beach toys, it was a complete package that the whole family could appreciated. My wife and myself along with my parents used the condo for two weeks, and during that time frame we had a surprise visit from my niece and her son. It was great to have the extra room for her, for the one night that she stayed with us. Dealing with Chris was a pleasure he was prompt on returning calls and emails, he was accurate with the descriptions of the place and directions in getting to the condo. He was a real pleasure to deal with. So if you are looking for great accommodation while in Maui, I strongly recommend this one to you, you will not be disappointed in anyway. While we were in Maui it was great to walk from this condo to Whalers village and back again each morning, which was next to the ocean where we had numerous whale sightings. Great place to eat is Mama's fish house pricey but worth the drive and the cost. We will be back some time and will rent this unit again one day.

The four of us absolutely loved the accommodations of this condo and the resort. The photos and description of the condo were very accurate, the unit was extremely new and clean, the bedding and towels were plush, and the very large lanai with its views was relaxing. There is no reason to go elsewhere to snorkel since the underwater views directly in front of the resort were amazing. My sister-in-law appreciated the ADA compatible bathroom for her needs, and she also referred to our condo as the 'Taj Mahal'. We highly recommend this condo for your visit.

We (two couples) stayed here for 11 days. The condo and facilities were everything that we had hoped it would be. Communication before the trip was helpfull and informative. Having the property Mgr meet us and show us around was a very nice touch. We stocked up at costco upon arrival and settled in for a dream vacation. We were not disappointed in any way. Sitting outside sipping morning coffee, watching whales from the balcony, life cant get much better than that. We would return in a minute and highly recommend this unit and this location. I received my refundable deposit cheque exactly one week after leaving Hawaii. I am in Canada, so that is very impressive in itself.

Excellent Maui Condo, Fantastic Lanai with Great Views to the Ocean & Mountainside

We (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child) spent 10 days in this great unit at the Honua Kai in Kaanapali. Excellent condo unit, very quiet and exactly as described and depicted. Many extras provided by the owner for beach goers. The owner, Chris, is very personable and professional in all his dealings, and was extremely helpful with area suggestions. His onsite property manager, who is very courteous, contacted us as we stepped off the plane and met us at the complex when we arrived to let us in and tour us through the unit. The lanai on this unit is much larger than the norm for the complex, and is much much larger than any hotel balcony. It accommodates a full size patio dining table and chairs for 6, as well as additional seating for reading and enjoying the view without feeling the least bit crowded. Great option to eat outside in an area that can comfortably fit everyone easily. The free highspeed internet in the unit is also a great convenience for booking any reservations, etc., and perhaps more importantly, keeping your avid teenage online gamers happy in the evenings after a busy day of other activities. The Honua Kai is a very new development and the excellent facilities are all fresh and in top notch condition, nothing worn or tired in this development. For those meals that you don't feel like cooking, Duke's, on site, offers good options for breakfast and lunch overlooking the beach area, highly recommend the excellent and affordable pancake breakfast. Duke's also does dinner, and there is a late afternoon/evening bar scene (well removed from the unit) with full poolside service available during the day as well. There is also an good onsite deli for light meals/snacks with a coffee bar for those who really miss their daily lattes, cappucinos and iced or blended coffees.There are also many other excellent dining and shopping options very nearby at Whalers Village and in Lahaina. We would have no hestitation about staying again at this excellent choice if we return again to Maui.

This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo felt like home from the minute we entered, it was exactly as described. The finishings are high end and everything was fully stocked and ready to go. There were both ocean and mountain views, just lovely. The resort amenities were great, lovely beach and pools. The owner of the condo was so helpful, he really went out of his way to answer all our questions and provide recommendations.

Just got back from 10 days in Kaanapali at Honua Kai. The unit was gorgeous, very upscale & high end finishes. Huge lanai, with water & mountain views. We were enchanted with the property - lush & luxurious. The owner was extremely helpful in speaking with us, and gave us terrific recommendations for everything from restaurants to massage therapists. Would DEFINITELY recommend this to others. We were extremely happy with the unit & the resort. Plus the location was perfect. We travel quite a bit, and this was one of the nicest places we've stayed. What a wonderful time we had in Maui at the Honou Kai!, And what could be better than waking up to a beautiful blue sky and having a coffee out on the biggest balcony we've ever seen! Everything in this condo was modern and clean just like the pictures show.Lots of room for a family of 4. We found everything we needed from cooking gadgets to beach toys to the drawer with all the kids movies. The boys loved that! The pools at the resort were amazing and unlike some places we have been we were always able to find chairs available. Chris was always very quick with responding to emails and even sent us many recommendations of things to do and see in the area before we went. We had a memorable 9 days!! ! Mahalo, we hope to return again in the future!!!

Condo Lives Up To Its Promise

My family and I recently returned from a Thanksgiving vacation in Maui. We were very fortunate to stay in this wonderful corner unit condo, with beautiful views of the ocean from a very large lanai. The doors to the lanai were actually more like a "glass wall", as a huge section of the wall opens up to allow the outside environment in. The condo itself was first class all the way around, very comfortable and outfitted with everything that a family might need, including a full-size clothes washer and dryer, which was very convenient. This condo also comes with beach/pool toys, towels and chairs, which were greatly appreciated. The swimming pools and grounds were very pretty, with easy beach access. Duke's Beach House Restaurant is onsite and offers good food and entertainment, with breakfast and happy hour providing the best value. The location of the resort is centrally located, with easy access (10 minute drive) to both Lahaina town and Napili Bay. The condo owner and his property manager made absolutely sure that we had a great stay and they took care of our needs before and during our stay. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a "turnkey" vacation and I hope to stay here again in the future. Happy Holidays!

We really enjoyed our stay and the condo was so beautiful! It was everything that we hoped it would be, and we really liked the corner location. The large lanai was such an added bonus. We couldn't have made a better choice. The owner was great to work, was very upfront and honest. He gave us a lot of tips on what to do and where to go. The Honua Kai resort was wonderful and having Duke's restaurant on site was very convienient. I will definately stay here again, when returning to the island.

Great Condo; Great Owner

The wife, 3-year old and I had a great time at this condo. The place was immaculate when we arrived. Decor is exactly as shown in the pictures and very comfortable. The balcony is huge. The whole place is very well equipped with kitchen supplies, towels, toys for the beach/pool, etc. The grounds are very nice and of course right on the beach. The pool has a 6" deep section that's great for toddlers. We met many parents and their kids splashing around there. Dealing with Chris the owner was a pleasure. He was very professional and timely in all our communication. He even honored the agreement we had reached when he then got a higher offer for the same dates. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say. I would wholeheartedly recommend Honua Kai in general and this condo in particular.

We stayed a week at this wonderful condo. owned by Chris and Cheryl Burns in October. After spending quite an extensive time on research with different hotel/condo options in Maui, I decided to spend our time in Maui with this condo at Honua Kai. I was in contact with Chris throughout the time I had wanted to book until it was time for our trip. He was very informative and attentive to our wishes and questions. The resort was the best. Dukes, which is right on premises, was visited frequently by us. The food and the staff couldn't have been any better. We used the grills provided by the pools, as well as the pools and of course the beach. The condo was the cleanest and well appointed I had ever stayed in. The lanai, which opens up the whole condo, was beautiful and spacious. The couple who stayed with us had not seen where we would be staying and agreed upon my recommendation and suggestion. They were very pleased. Our friend who would rather stay at a hotel resort rather than a "condo" couldn't have been happier. She stated this was a resort in every sense of the word except for the fact the "room" was nicer than any hotel you could imagine. The beds were so comfortable, the furnishings beautiful, and very nice and spacious bathroom areas. The pictures are exactly as they show only better in person. Off the lanai, you can see the inside of the property (which is beautiful) and a part of the ocean and pool area while the other direction is the gorgeous mountain. Yes, we did see rainbows over the mountain. I would not hesitate and look forward to booking this condo. again and would definitely recommend this to anyone who may be staying at this "resort". The pools were great. The beach was beautiful, but I will say there isn't a lot of flat sand area leading into the water. Please don't let this deter you from considering this property as this is the way it was all along the area for all the resorts. The water was beautiful and the beach was extremely clean with soft sand. There is some coral in the water right in front of the property which made it great for snorkeling! Also, the Aina Market, which is located in the building of this condo. was great to grab things each day. It was very reasonable compared to other stores in the area and such a convenience. We visited everyday either for fresh gelato, breakfast, or a bottle of wine and fruit. Again, this unit was the best. We loved our stay here. Mahalo, Karen

Amazing Unit at Honua Kai!

My family had the pleasure of staying in this unit for 8 days at the end of August 2011. We were all extremely happy with our accommodations in this lovely, modern, spacious unit with its idyllic view of the ocean and swaying palm trees. The unit itself is equipped with everything you need from spices for cooking, to Boogie Boards to Sand Toys for the kids. We didn’t have to think about ANYTHING which is the goal while on vacation. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond when we needed it and it was a wonderful experience from the day we inquired about the unit until the day we actually departed. The resort itself is too gorgeous with several large pools, hot tubs and cabanas. We were very reluctant to leave this property which for 8 days afforded us the best family vacation we have ever had. When we come back to Maui, we will definitely stay in this unit again. There is NO NEED to even look at anything else. This is true paradise waiting for the next lucky renters. Mahalo!

We had the chance to stay at Honua Kai for 3 nights when our other condo was double booked. Lucky us! We thoroughly enjoyed the amenities that this unit offered. First, the kitchen and all it's appliances are dreamy. There are big LG flat screen tvs in each room (nice!). The bedding was high thread count and pure white (plush). The view from the large balcony/deck is also great. There are several pools that you can choose from. There are also several hot tubs near each pool. Duke's restaurant is on-site and they have great breakfasts. Also a nice workout room in one of the buildings. Too many great things to list them all here. You must go and see it for yourself!

The Best of Both Worlds

My family had the good fortune of spending twelve wonderful days days in this unit. I mention the number of days because the thought of spending that amount of time with my family (although I love them dearly) in a small hotel room and having to eat out for every meal, is really not appealing to me-- even in Maui. But by renting a beautiful condo unit in a beautiful setting with the bells and whistles of a high end resort- we truly did experience the best of both worlds. The unit itself is immaculate. It is very obvious the owners take pride in their property and have gone out of their way to make the condo as comfortable as possible for their renters. The "activity closet' is filled with every possible water toy you could think of to make your time at the beach as relaxing (with comfortable beach chairs) or as active as you want (boogie boards). There are movies and games in the event you feel like a night in. The beds are very comfortable and the large lanai is perfect for morning coffee, reading a book after a day at the beach, or for cocktails watching the sun set. In short, we had a wonderful time. The complex is beautiful. Drinks at Dukes is always fun and for those who live by the motto "it's 5 0'clock somewhere" happy hour with live music begins at 3:00 every day. We had a negative experience at Dukes for dinner one night, but overall the food is good and the convenience of having a full service restaurant right on property outweighs any negative. I definately recommend this unit to anyone with a family who is looking for the conveniences of home while on vacation in paradise.

Absolute Paradise

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we chose Maui based on recommendations by friends. The accomendations were superb....words can not even explain. The location is wonderful and you have perfect views of the mountains and the ocean from the very spacious lanai. The condo is perfect for families having two bedrooms and a pull out couch to sleep the little ones. It is full of accessories for the kids....movies, games, and beach toys. The overall property is very spacious and even during the peak hours at the pool you are able to get lounge chairs at one of the many pools within the resort. The one pool has a water slide that was a big hit for our kids....they spent hours going up and down it. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a clean, well maintained condo which is fit for family.

My family has made it a point to visit Maui on a yearly basis. We usually stay in the heart of Kaanapali at one of the local high end resorts. Upon searching for a place to stay, I found the ad for Chris Burns' 2 bedroom/2 bath condo at the Honua Kai just north of Whaler's Village. We booked our trip and stayed in Chris's condo. The condo was beautiful! The kitchen had stainless appliances and granite counter tops, the living room was quite roomy with a a queen size sofa bed and floor to ceiling windows. There was a master bedroom with a deluxe bathroom and a second bedroom with a king bed and a door to the main bathroom. We ate breakfast every day on the huge lanai with views of the mountains and ocean. We spent most of our evenings in the same spot watching the sunset. The grounds at the Honua Kai are beautiful. The pools and hot tubs were perfect for all ages. Not only do they have a quaint little coffee shop/deli in the lobby, but Duke's restaurant is on the property and serves the pool. We found ourselves either eating in, or ordering from two amazing places i.e. Cilantro's in Lahaina or Pizza Paradiso, just north of the condo. I have to say that this was the perfect spot for myself, husband and two teenage kids. I would highly recommend this unit. We look forward to our next visit!

We stayed at a rental property in Honua Kai. It was on the 4th floor and had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Chris Burns, the owner, was extremely helpful, quick to respond to any and all questions and made you feel secure about the rental he was describing. Initially, I was a little uneasy about renting from somebody I had never met but within several conversations, Chris made all my concerns vanish. He is extremely trustworthy and very dependable! The Condominium was absolutely gorgeous, in great condition and very clean. It had a closet with all kinds of gear, boogie boards, beach towels, wagon , several pool toys, pails, shovels and there was even several bottles of extra sunscreen. We have a 1 year old so having all the pool toys came in handy! The rooms were spacious with lots of closet space and both bathrooms were huge with double sinks and lovely, deep tubs. My mother was traveling with us so it was nice to have our privacy! There was also a beautiful deck that was huge, over 500 feet. One side had the view of the mountains and the other side had a view of the ocean and palm trees. I would drink my coffee out there every morning! There was seating for 6 as well as separate tables for coffee and such! There was a restaurant on the beach called "Dukes", right on the property, about 3 minutes from our Condo. The food was great and so were the prices. The atmosphere was relaxed and it was so nice to look out at the ocean while eating! It was also convenient, traveling with a one year old it was nice having this as an option. There was also a market about 30 seconds from our Condo with a little bit of everything. Lots of organic products! They had the most amazing Gelato, YUM!!! I did not even think I liked Gelato but I was wrong. It is made by a women who now lives in Maui and studied for many years in Italy on how to make amazing Gelatao!!! I almost forgot to mention that our unit also had a PACK-N-PLAY AND HIGH CHAIR!! Many of the other units I inquired about did not have theses in there units. Once again, this just made our vacation more convenient. I can't begin to imagine having to pack and carry a pack-n-play with all our other baby gear!! The beach was beautiful and the pools were amazing. If you told me we were the first people to ever occupy this condo I'd believe it. It was immaculate and even better than I had hoped. The location was perfect in every way and the beach was better than I thought it would be from other reviews. Black Rock was walking distance for snorkeling and there is a grocery store right across the street to stock the full size fridge. The rooms are plush and these guys have a closet stocked full of beach and pool toys - even a wagon to haul groceries from the store or a ton of kid stuff to the beach. Because it's a corner unit, the lanai (deck) is extra huge. Decent view of the beach, unprecedented view of the mountains and total privacy. This unit has it's own wireless internet (free) and they even stocked it with lots of bottled water. We were ready to move in for good! I think this is such an incredible value compared to the hotel rooms - you get three times as much space and two huge bathrooms each with separate walk in showers and soaking tubs. Seriously - I want one!!! You're far enough out away from Lahaina that you probably want to have a rental car and that's going to cost you an extra $10 per day for parking but it's under ground which is nice. Duke's restaurant was always busy and take-out didn't work out as we'd planned one evening, but the lunch we had there was great and they have a really good late afternoon happy hour menu that is a good deal to intercept. What can I say - we were blown away! And the kids already want to go back next year. If we do, I won't bother looking elsewhere, this place is a palace for a (relative) song! I didn't use the community BBQ area, but it looked really nice and I wish we had (it's down by the pool). Definitely a family atmosphere with quite a few kids playing in the pools and on the beach for our trip, and the owners were very accommodating in changing up the second room king bed into two twin beds for our kids. There were five of us and it was more than enough space. We didn't spend much time watching TV, but there are three brand new big screen HDTV's in the unit! It's really posh and everything is brand new.

AMAZING VACATION

From the moment we drove up to the Honua Kai I knew we made the right choice in accomodations. It is a beautiful place. The bellman brought up all of our luggage AND all of our food (we went to Costco beforehand) and unpacked all of our food for us. The condo is spacious, bright and very well maintained. The pictures are spot on. It had everything we needed from beach toys to wine glasses. I loved waking up in the morning to have my cup of tea out on the lanai and soak in the gorgeous ocean view. The staff at the Honua Kai is extremely friendly. Chris promptly answered all of my questions and was very professional, he makes everything seamless. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it really does suit all ages. The only downside to all of this is that we did not stay long enough!

Paradise Found!

What a great place to celebrate two special birthdays and an anniversary. We dubbed our trip "Hawaii 50" for these events. The condo was perfect for two couples with the two separate suites and a large living area. The kitchen had everything we needed and being able to open up the lanai was fantastic. We sat out for coffee and breakfast every day and ended every evening out there as well. We have already recommended this condo to several friends. The location worked well for everything we had planned and we really enjoyed the beach and the pools. Having Duke's restaurant right on the grounds as well as being so close to many other great restaurants was very convenient. We enjoyed working with these owners. We've used VRBO before and this has been our best experience!!! Thank you again for letting us stay in your vacation home.

Perfect "Girls" Trip!!

A girlfriend and myself brought our High School Senior daughters to Maui for one last Spring Break Trip before college. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The unit was amazing! And the views....to the left we could watch whales in the ocean and to the right rainbows every afternoon. Snorkeling from the beach was very good, beautiful coral, tons of fish and we saw turtles daily (one day even a Monk Seal swimming near the beach)! This was my 10th trip to Maui and my first time at the Honua Kai, it is the best place I have stayed! I will recommend to anyone planning a trip to Maui!!

This beautiful condo made our first (not last!) trip to Maui a wonderful 2 week family vacation. The size, the layout, the additional family amenities made our stay perfect. We were welcomed and given the grand tour of our "vacation home" and it was love at first sight. The photos are "exact" ... AMAZING property! Having the playpen and booster chairs and all the beach toys - the movies & games in the condo was awesome!!! The wagon was wonderful for transporting the kids (3 & 2) and all our beach gear. The views from the lanai were breathtaking! We saw whales everyday (my favourite). We drove the amazing Hana Coast. We dined at Duke's on the property and Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina to name a few! Lahaina is such a quaint town with lots of history and the enormous banyan tree too. The Luau in Lahaina was a highlight. Shopping is fantastic in Waileia and Whalers Village just down the road. Supermarket was within walking distance. The little ones loved the pools, waterfall & the rock pool. You must see it to believe it!! Something for every age. Grass for picnics or for playing catch. Beautiful beach by day and gorgeous sunsets by night. Thank you so much Chris & family for such a memorable stay!

Our stay at the Honua Kai simply could not have been any better. An outstanding property, both the condo itself and the amenities of the Honua Kai Resort. We are recommending staying at Chris' condo at Honua Kai to all of our friends and colleagues who are thinking about a trip to Maui. The condo was new, clean, spacious and had everything one would need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. It is an amazingly beautiful property both inside and out. We particularly enjoyed the spacious lanai and the folding wall of windows which provided such a unique connection with the gentle ocean breeze and the warm sunshine. We also appreciated the professionalism of Chris. He promptly answered any and all of our questions and made the rental process exceedingly pleasant. Without a doubt this is our favourite place in Hawaii and it will be difficult to stay anywhere else in Maui now that we have experienced Chris' wonderful condo at Honua Kai. Thanks again Chris!

As we began to plan our trip to Maui, we found it very difficult to find a spot to accommodate two couples. We kept running into a master suite and then a double or a master suite and then twin beds...until we stumbled upon Chris's condo! It has 2 master suites (but if needed, you may transform one room into twins)! We looked over the pictures and fell in love! It was all we had been looking for and much more! We made a call that night, 8pm on a Sunday night and Chris called right back! His correspondence and follow thru was outstanding throughout the entire process! When we got to the resort - it was breathtaking and so beautiful! Our room was just as we pictured. Fabulous! The kitchen was great and we cooked quite a few meals in there! And not to mention the extra beach items that came in handy almost every day, towels, chairs, boogie boards, it worked out well. We enjoyed the pools and spas and Duke's! Oh and we loved the Viking bbq's outside down by the pool - we probably bbq'ed 3 or 4 nights! It was truly a great experience! I would definitely recommend this spot to friends, family and YOU! Maui is so relaxing and beautiful and this condo will just elevate that experience!

Fantastic stay - family friendly 5-Star Resort

Stayed at this fantastic resort in late January of 2011 and was very impressed by both the unit and the resort. The rental unit is very spacious and the lanai has amazing views, we never ate inside. The owner made it easy to bring a baby to the unit providing many of the larger items that are hard to pack and fly with. The unit photos are accurate. The resort is in a great location, seemed safe and within walking distance to a store and other restaurants, had no rain in the 10-days. The beach was very good but we did not spend too much time on the beach with a baby, more lounging at the pool and the kids area. The grounds are very well maintained and the various pools are refreshing providing lots of options for both kids and adults alike. Dukes restaurant on site has excellent food and is reasonably priced, not crazy about the cost of the cafe near the lobby but they do have great desserts. I recommend going to Maui in January or February as we saw whales jumping out of the water from the swimming pool and the beach. Chris the owner was great to deal with very professional. My only negative was leaving paradise to go back home to winter! Cheers from Western Canada

I was a little nervous about renting from an owner since I have never done so before. After a couple of emails with questions, I received a personal call from Chris, which made me feel better about the transaction. Chris was very good with correspondence, always emailing back promptly. All details were accurate and precisely detailed with anything I could think of to ask. Once we arrived, we called the contact person on the island & she met us at the resort. All 5 of us, me, my husband and our 3 children (ages 20, 14 & 10) all said, "Wow." There are really no words to describe our entire vacation. The room was perfect with extra amenities that helped a lot at the beach. The kitchen was fully equipped and the whirlpool tubs were great! The lanai was our favorite place to sit every morning and every evening. Beautiful views! The pools & hot tubs were great. The beach was beautiful, everything was amazing! Dukes restaurant on site had good food and a friendly atmosphere, very convenient. We snorkled right outside the beach, and also booked a trip through concierge to Oahu (Pearl Harbor) & a snorkeling trip to Molokini, which were both incredible! We saw several whales on the way to & from Molikini & our last day at the beach we saw a turtle & a whale from the beach, I appreciate all the information and assistance from Chris & his family for helping make our 15th wedding anniversary the most incredible so far. We will most definately be going back!

Absolute Paradise!

If you get a chance to spend your vacation in the Burns' Condo in Honua Kai - DO NOT HESITATE! This was a first trip for some of us and a return trip to Maui for others - but ALL of us agree - this is the place to stay! The condo is impressive from the moment you pull up to the lobby. Open air lobby with indoor/outdoor seating, a lovely cafe, work out room and so much more! The elevators are readily available at all times of the day to take you to and from your amazing home-away-from-home. The Burns' condo is beautifully decorated and has all the amenities you could possibly want . . . dishes, appliances, super comfy bedding, blowdryers, full screens to allow the wall of windows to be open at all times, and even boogie boards and beach towels! While the interior is impressive, the REAL gem of this unit is the lanai. With views of the ocean on one end and the mountains the other, this corner-unit lanai was the highlight of our stay. The outdoor furniture allowed our family to eat outdoors every day and enjoy the stunning views and soothing breeze. The pools, ocean front and access to Dukes were all fully utilized and appreciated as well. We did take time to tear ourselves away from the property and enjoyed the Pride of Maui snorkel tour, the Old Lahaina Luau, Eco-Adventures Zip Line, and the Ulalena Theater Show. We enjoyed a lovely day walking and shopping the streets of Lahaina - Cheesburger in Paradise - AMAZING Mai Tai's and delicious pork! There is something for everyone in Maui! The only drawback to our entire stay was having to leave. Chris Burns provided us with quality service from beginning to end and made our long-awaited, highly anticipated family vacation a dream come true. Thank you, Chris & Family!

One of the most beautiful condos we have ever stayed at. The little touches in the unit made us feel right at home the minute we walked in. The view for the lanai was awesome. You can look at the oncean on one side and the mountains on the other side with the most spectacular rainbows ever! Anything you could want to do is either walking distance or a short drive away, including shopping, dining and our favorite.........golf. We would LOVE to stay here again on our next trip to Maui

We loved our stay at this condo. The unit is beautiful with a great ocean and mountain view. The living room is so light and airy. The kitchen is well appointed with all the 'gear' you would need to cook any meal. The toy closet is well stocked with boggie boards (we left 2) and all kinds of beach gear including towels. If you are looking for a top notch family vacation this condo is the only way to go. Owners are above and beyond helpful and will provide you with a wealth of info re: the island of Maui. The condo is fully stocked with pool/beach gear for all ages. The pack-n-play and booster seat were an added bonus. They also have a ton of dvd's and some fun games. The views are spectacular. You will find yourself spending most of your time out on the lanai. The condo itself has high end finishes, is very spacious including the bath/bedrooms and beautiful decor. The descriptions are spot on and actually when we got there things were even better. The location couldn't have been more perfect. It truly is centrally located to everything on the island. The resort as a whole is by far the best in the area. The amenities were perfect. The common area's immaculate and well manicured. Multiple pools and the beach was amazing. We swam every day right off the boardwalk of the resort. Duke's has great food and beautiful island views. We had an amazing time while at Honua Kai.

we looked for weeks to find a place to stay in maui.we were travelling to maui for our 30th., wedding anniversary,and our niece was getting married.it is mind boggling to see all the vacation retals that are available,having never vacationed in maui before.we kept coming back to honua kai pictures.after emailing chris and setting the dates for our vacation,now we had to wait for the time to come.was it worth it,the pictures are absolutely perfect.everything you see is what you get.this condo is so clean,so large,it was amazing.we swam,snorkled,swam in the pools,and ate at dukes restaurant right there.you cannot say enough about this condo.large gorgous bedrooms,and bathrooms.after the wedding,we had friends over for a drink,the first words that were uttered were "wow"what a beautiful condo.this may have been the first visit to maui,it will not be the last.save yourself all the looking around at "all those other places",and take it from "all" of the reviews on this condo,this is the place to stay.one of the big factors in staying with chris,and cheryl was all the positive reviews.the huge lanai was fantastic for early morning sunrise,and afternoon coctails.mahalo chris and cheryl for allowing us to stay in your home away from home.

I don't generally give 5 stars but the condo did exceed our expectations. Beautify, new, and clean condo in a great location. The owner and receiving staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They answered all of our inquiries very promptly. Condo does a great job of utilizing the outdoor space. We would open the lanai doors as soon as we woke up to taking in the fresh, warm mornings. When we ate in, we always ate outside on the lanai. The condo and resort was excellent for our family with young kids. There were plenty of toys and games to play with in the condo. Lots of pools to choose from. We spent most our time at the beach which was not crowded and had good snorkeling opportunities. This was our first trip to Maui and we have already recommended this place to our friends.

Let me start by saying I have used VRBO/Home Away/Cyber Rentals etc.numerous times for home/condo rentals. Some of my rentals appeared much better in their listings than what I actually expected and received. I can honestly say everything with this Honua Kai condo was exactly as described. Communication with Chris was outstanding from my initial inquiry in January to follow-ups after our six-night stay in late July. We have been to Maui several times and experienced the resorts in Wailea and Kaanapali. There is no comparison to booking a smallish hotel room with resort fees to renting a NEW, large condo with a huge lanai in a resort. Our children enjoyed boogie boarding, the beach, pools and hot tubs. We arrived late but immediately noticed the welcoming touch of a fresh Maui Gold pineapple and a box of macadamia nut clusters. What a wonderful little surprise. Since I am a chef, I prepared our meals in the condo and at the resort's grills. It was wonderful to watch the beautiful sunsets, meet with fellow guests, all while filet mignons, sliders or pork tenderloins were grilling. Our family of five includes three older children. We were all very comfortable in this two-bedroom condo and everyone slept well each night. The air conditioning worked wonderfully. And the mountain and ocean views were tremendous. I don't know which I liked the better. Every day, we saw rainbows, sometimes three at a time! What was surprising was that we stayed in this super-clean condo even before Chris and his family did (they came three days later) and everything was in order and well equipped thanks to Michelle, the rental manager. I look forward to returning to Honua Kai and renting from the Burns once again. No worries here. Go ahead and book -- If you can find an open date!

The best way to describe our visit to Maui was incredible. What a find! Chris and Cheryl Burns have the most wonderful condo unit within the Honua Kai Resort. From the first contact with the Burns, and throughout the entire process these owners are terrific to work with. Honest and true to their every word. There condo unit sparkles with cleanliness and high class, well appointed beauty, as well as a very welcoming feel, and an extremely large fabulous lanai with beautiful views of the ocean and Maui mountains. Our entire experience was perfect. We are looking forward to our next stay as guests of the Burns Family. If you are looking for great value and a beautiful new condo, along with all around wonderful resort, this is the unit and owners I most certainly recommend. A vacation stay that was truly more than expected.

Our experience in Maui at Honua Kai was terrific. Family of four with teenagers. We loved the unit as soon as we walked in. I think all four of us said,"WOW" together. We were able to spread out and relax with the 2 bedrooms and baths. The kitchen was well stocked and the whole unit was so clean. Everything went smooth and perfect. The Lanai allowed us to see sunrises and sunsets. I loved it! The unit had beach chairs and some tubes and towels that helped out when the kids went snorkeling at our own beach area. The condo is close to Lahaina and is just perfect to away from all the overcrowded hustlle and bustle. We ran everyday on the beach pathway. had breakfast, lunch and a dinner at Dukes which was very good. Enjoyed having the small market there for a quick item or two. The grounds and pools were very well maintained and we had a lot of fun on the slide. Overall, one of the best vacations we have ever had. Definitely worth looking into and enjoy.

This was a very spacious condo that had everything one could want for a stay. Bedrooms and baths were very nice as was the living area. I loved being able to sit on such a large lanai early in the morning to drink my coffee. The concierge on the grounds was extremely helpful in planning some of our trips, We all had a fun time at the pool and the restaurant... all the locals were very helpful and pleasant. Everything was totally as the owner described and then some. We had a wonderful holiday at Honua Kai in every way. The condo has all the amenities and luxury that a family could ask for. It was so quiet and peaceful for us we didn't feel the need to get away at all. Lots of space too. The resort is beautiful and wonderfully designed. The pools were great for the kids and relaxing for us as well. The chairs and umbrellas worked for those that needed both sun and shade. Dukes was great for the time we wanted to eat out. We were fortunate to see whales on one of our last few days and on the last night our son saw a giant sea turtle sleeping right on the beach. We were able to enjoy jumping giant waves which were a huge hit for our 12 year old as well as snorkelling right there too. The boardwalk to Whaler's Village is handy for an outing too. The onsite manager who provided our keys was kind and helpful too. After renting from private owners in Aruba, Florida, and Kauai previously, I must say that this was the most awesome of the three. Thank you again Chris and Cheryl!

This condo is absolutely beautiful! Our family of 5 was totally comfortable and glad to call it home for 2 weeks! It was our first time using VRBO and Chris and Cheryl made it a very positive experience for us. Thanks again for sharing your piece of paradise with us. It was a pleasant suprise to actually find everything we might need, including spices!! The staff and concierge were all super friendly and helpful. Dukes was so amazing we had dinner there twice! Fabulous food and service! My personal favorite was the poolside service, I will miss my happy hours in the lounge chairs and sunshine! HA! We have never been at this time of year so never had the experience of seeing the whales before now! That was extremely cool. I could watch for whales from the lanai in the morning. Wow! The kids enjoyed the many hours of pool and beach time. My husband enjoyed his run in the mornings on the boardwalk, and his visits to the gym. I was too busy poolside to join him! HA! This resort far exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend!

This is a beautiful new condo. All the information is accurate and the pictures speak the truth. It is well appointed with all needed for a wonderful vacation. We greatly enjoyed snorkeling the beach right in front of the property. We cooked many meals in using the wonderful BBQ area provided by the complex and the huge lanai of the condo. The biggest surprise is Duke's the on sight restaurant which is excellent with very good prices.

After spending a week in paradise, it was very hard to leave. These accommodations were the best we have ever stayed at. The condo unit itself was beautiful with top-notch furnishings and very roomy. The property as a whole was unbelievable. The pools were the selling feature for us. We have stayed at many other places in Maui and this was by far the most enjoyable. The next time we are booking a trip, we will not have to spend the time looking for somewhere to stay, we will absolutely be booking here again. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars!!

Without a doubt this unit is a luxurious and comfortable home away from home. The bedrooms are well separated for privacy and the bathrooms are spacious and open. The deck is where you'll want to spend most of your time as it open up on the rest of the unit. Laid out with tables and several chairs we enjoyed many meals on the lanai. Honua Kai has all the characteristics of a 5 star hotel as well as being conveniently located to where you want to be in Maui. The grounds offer up several well laid out pools including exclusive area's for kids that they'll never want to leave. The beach is a boardwalk away, the beach is clean and never crowded. Kids beach toys and chairs were of great use and were included. While kids were kept busy watching their own flat screen in their bedroom my wife and I would utilize the blender to enjoy a cocktail in the evening on the lanai. We've travelled around the world and have stayed in hotels much more expensive than this unit - I can say for the first time not only did I get my money's worth, but my expectations were exceeded.......Enjoy!!

We have just returned from an 8 day stay at the brand new, and lovely Honua Kai. This was my first time using VRBO, and my first time in Maui. We were the (lucky) first guests in unit 436, and I was immediately impressed with the prompt, courteous service, and attention to detail provided by Chris, the condo owner. It was completely stress-free, and far more enjoyable than dealing with traditional resorts/hotels in my opinion. As for the unit itself, it was a very pleasant surprise. Located in the beautiful, and rather opulent Honua Kai complex, #436 is an immaculate, luxurious corner unit with an enormous lanai looking out to the ocean as well as the mountains. Loved it! The poolside area is beautiful -really nice and quiet, and the attached Duke's restaurant is terrific. The beach out front is nice and sandy - if interested, the waves are good for surfing/bodyboarding a few minutes walk to the North. Snorkeling is nice with the reef right out front - a bit rocky though, so be careful when entering the water. To be honest, the worst part of it all was packing our bags on the last day...I really didn't want to leave this place! A great experience from start to finish, and we'll be back as soon as we can:) Thanks Chris!
