The Suites at Steele Point: The main house welcomes you with an open, airy feeling. The villa features patios, courtyards, indoor and alfresco dining areas, and air-conditioned suites, all with private full baths.
The raised living area has a large L-shaped couch, a flat screen TV, stereo system, CD collection, and IPOD docking station. The Hibiscus suite is adjacent to the main living area with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. Our Frangipani Suite is our master suite with 360° views of the entire peninsula. It is the highest point on the estate and our newest addition. A lovers delight, set at a discreet distance from the main house with a king bed, a private bath, and outdoor shower.
On the next level down is the very secluded Gardenia Suite with a king bed, and a private sunbathing deck with two large lounge chaises where you can relax to the sound of the soothing surf. Just under the Gardenia Suite are the Orchid and Palm Suites. Each is a king bedroom suite at sea level. Both are flanked by very private stone terraces and balconies to catch the cool sea breeze. Enjoy the view from your verandas over looking spiral stairs that lead to two private docks, and a private beach cove in the Cliffside. The docks are ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Every detail in this custom home is a masterpiece of design; a collection of fine art and original sculpture adorn this property inside and out. Year Purchased: 2000
In 1968 Irene and her husband Stuart honeymooned on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. The rest is history... In the early 80's they introduced their young children to not just St. John but the US and British Virgin Islands. Although the dream was to move to St. John and begin a new life in paradise, it was not until 2000 that Irene, and her daughter Christine, and son Justin, together purchased the 8 acre peninsular estate known as Steele Point.
Why the Owner Chose Steele Point
Named after the gorgeous peninsula which it rests; the opulent property lies on eight gated acres and occupies the entire western tip of Tortola, an island surround by the most beautiful sailing waters in the world. Built atop a 90 foot rock headland offering a 360 degree panorama of ocean and islands, Steele Point offers unobstructed views of the opalescent waters below. The structure is a dazzling triumph of structural grace and ingenuity, attributes that prompted it to be featured in magazines, including Architectural Digest when it was initially built. Quite simply it was a most intriguing opportunity for the family to own not just a piece of paradise in the British Virgin Islands, but also one of the most impressive properties anywhere in the world.
The Unique Benefits of this House
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Oh and did we mention the view? The peninsula itself is one of the many headlands that make up the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Beyond the channel is picturesque St. John however, the view from Steele Point is of the 7,000+ acres of undeveloped National Park. If the aforementioned views were not enough, from Steele Point you can also see BVI National Parks, Great Thatch Island, Sandy Cay, and Sandy Spit along with eight other islands. Another unique feature of this property is living on the very point of the peninsula where quite literally the Atlantic and Caribbean converge. Furthermore being part of the Steele Point Estate this villa is directly in the center of not just the U.S. or BVI, but all the Virgin Islands. Everything wonderful that the Virgin Islands has to offer is equidistant and easily accessible. Lastly, because the peninsula is a gated estate you have the privacy of a private island, but the convenience of being on BVI's main island.
