This was our second stay the casita. It is very comfortable and the owner made us feel at home. The bed was so comfy we wished we could have taken it with us. The location is great. The neighborhood is quiet and within walking distance to the Farmers Market, Whole Foods and many other destinations. Parking was easy in and out. The casita is lovingly decorated with many Southwestern touches with make guests feel they are having a real Santa Fe experience. We hope to be back again next year. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Santa Fe, while perhaps a bit gentrified, is a great city in which to stay because it is just a short drive to so many other scenic and interesting Northern NM attractions (You must try a meal at Antonio's in Taos!) The casita was exactly as pictured and provided for nearly every need. It was clean enough for me (which is a high-bar,) except for one issue that was a big bubble-burster....For whatever reason, it did not meet my, or any, standard of a non-smoking unit. In fact, the residual cigarette-smoke odor was enough to sting my eyes. There was a HEPA air filter provided and a high window to leave open during the day. My daughter, who has asthma, was recovering from a cold, and this was not at all helpful. The parking indicated for our use was occupied by another vehicle that never went anywhere during our stay. We had to angle-in and pull out of a tight alternate space suggested by a not-too-friendly neighbor whose spot I had taken, thinking hers was the red car and that maybe the spots were interchangeable. The air mattress, while it held air, has seen much better days. There was no level of inflation which made it comfortable, so the one night it was in use we just used it as a flat mat for blankets. Then there was the other neighbor who thought it was too noisy for me to do a couple of loads of laundry in a quiet front-load machine. He or she stopped my laundry mid-cycle, leaving an angry note about how these machines back up to his/her bedroom. How was I to know?! I am not, by nature, an inconsiderate person. I did not have an opportunity to meet the owner. We spoke about my concerns on the phone. None of this would make me rule-out another stay. All-in-all, it was a 3.8 out of 5.0--pretty good, but with a few problems.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review regarding your recent visit with us. We take all guest issues seriously and do our very best to resolve them. When this guest complained of the smell of smoke, I offered to come by to see what could be done to correct it. The guest would not allow it, saying her children were sleeping. Both myself and our housekeeper did not smell smoke in the casita one hour prior to our guest’s arrival and did not smell smoke immediately after their departure, thus we could never confirm whether or not the smell of smoke was indeed there during this guests stay and we’ve never received a smoke complaint before or since. The casita is non-smoking. As far as the laundry issue, every night I received phone calls from the other guests, stating that laundry was being done continuously from early evening up until two a.m. and then it would start again at six a.m. For the comfort of all guests in our casita, laundry hours are clearly posted and these were constantly ignored. Once again, we appreciate the time taken to submit a review!

This casita was perfect for our Fall getaway. The casita is very spacious for two people. As noted in a previous review, the couch is soft and comfortable. We loved putting our feet up after a day of walking around town. I loved the DirectTV, and there is also an extensive DVD and contemporary novel library available for perusal. The bathroom is large and the counter space is ample. The bed is quite comfortable as well. We enjoyed our welcome gift, and the blue corn chips were fresh and delicious! The only note is the lack of air conditioning. We were in Santa Fe in October, and we did get a little warm at night. It wasn't unbearable, but it was warm. However, we still loved the casita, and would stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This trip to Santa Fe was a last minute decision for us, and Alexis was very easy to work with. The casita was clean and comfortable, photos are accurate. The kitchen is large with nice cookware and dishes, making it easy to prepare meals. The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed morning coffee on the patio. The location is an easy walk to many Santa Fe attractions. Great Farmers Market on Saturday at the Rail Yard. The welcome basket with chips, salsa and coffee was a nice touch! We would stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time visiting Santa Fe, and this condo greatly contributed to our wonderful experience. The pictures do not do it justice, it is so clean and well-kept, with everything you could need. The living room is very cozy with its comfortable couches and kiva fireplace, which we made good use of. We appreciated the ample counter space in the kitchen and bathroom (we tend to over-pack and then need to spread out), and it was nice to have a desk for our laptop. The welcome basket was a great touch as well. The bed is so comfortable too! While we didn't walk many places, we certainly could have - the casita is in such a convenient location. It's very close to several grocery stores and a drugstore, restaurants, and the plaza. We couldn't be happier with our decision to stay in this casita and we're already trying to figure out when we can return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This spacious casita is filled with natural light, reflecting the bright colors on the walls. We stayed over Christmas and had a fire every night, comfy sofa and chair. We brought our own little tree, but found a small one in the closet which we also put into action so it was very festive. Everything we needed was in the kitchen, with directions to the grocery stores left for us as well. Bed was very comfortable, lots of hot water in the bath. Owner was very accommodating with early check in and left us a very nice gift basket with coffee and chips and salsa. No complaints what so ever. There is a train from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, so you could fly in and take the train and walk to the casita if you didn't want to rent a car as it is just a few blocks to the train station. We had a car and the casita offers a parking space, but that is just an idea. You can walk from the casita to the square etc., but it was pretty cold so we drove closer in and parked then walked to Canyon Drive for the Farolito walk on Christmas Eve. We really like Cowgirls restaurant. this was the second time we went and it was as good as the first time. The farmers market on Saturday is also a fun thing to do.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The casita is great! It is a great southwestern home which looks great inside. The pictures do not show how big it really is. This would be a great place for a couple looking for an extended stay because of the size and amenities. The kitchen is huge and well stocked. The fireplace was a great place to cozy up at night. The bed is comfortable. It's about a 15 minute walk to the main plaza and everything else is very conveniently located as well. The welcome basket was a nice touch too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Just got back from spending 4 days in Santa Fe while staying in this spacious casita. My wife and I loved everything about this cozy place. We had a nice fire each evening since the weather was chilly at night. Our bed was quite comfortable and so was the couches for watching TV. The location really was in a great area of town. Fifteen minute walk to The Historic Square and five minute walk to the Railyard Station. Canyon Road , where many art galleries are, is only a brisk twenty minute walk. We loved our stay here and recommend it to all. Thanks so much Alexis for allowing us to rent your lovely casita.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the casita in April and just had a fantastic time! The place is absolutely beautiful and the amenities were great! One thing is that the photos don't completely capture just how great it really looks. Alexis and Meg were really responsive, and always ready to help out. A quick phone call and they were right there with suggestions on everything from restaurants, places to see, to some really great galleries. The house was very well appointed and it was absolutely spotless (kudos to their housekeeper). All in all, my wife and I had a wonderful trip to Santa Fe, and we would definitely recommend staying at this casita! We would stay here again and again! Thanks, Alexis and Meg for making our trip to Santa Fe a great experience in a new town!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed in this unit for 17 days in December. It was extremely homey and nice--the bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I've slept in away from home! As others have said, it was spotlessly clean with plenty of fluffy towels, etc. Alex leaves a thoughtful welcome gift when you arrive. The location is also good: right across the street from the Sage bakehouse, and just a couple of minutes from the Railroad district. The sofa is also very comfortable, and the living room in general is a great place to hang out in the evenings. I was also pleased to find the kitchen fully appointed--I made a cheesecake one night and found everything I needed (mixing bowls, electronic mixer, spatula, etc.). The best thing, however, is Alex's responsiveness and helpfulness while you are staying in her unit. She was quick to suggest activities and food adventures, and even lent us a cooler to take on a mini camping trip. The one downside of the unit is that there isn't much natural light. However, I would say that this is greatly outweighed by the positives. I highly recommend the place, and would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Casita Colores for three nights in mid-October 2010. We can do little more than reinforce all the previous, positive reviews. The casita is luxuriously spacious, clean and beautifully decorated (the photos don't due it justice). Alexis is a very responsive host. The unit lacked only one thing on our arrival (firewood) and Alexis had some at the door within an hour of our telephone request. Why wouldn't you want to stay here? You are on a totally quiet, secluded, dead-end street. It was totally safe and beautiful. Everything was within easy walking distance (15 minutes to the Plaza, 10 minutes to Whole Foods, 15 minutes to Trader Joe's, etc.). The only time we got in the car was when we left town for day trips. And all for a fraction of the cost of most hotel rooms in the area. We were so comfortable that it was hard to leave. Thanks, Alexis, for a great stay!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I just got back from a four night stay at this Santa Fe Casita. This is a very spacious unit, and is well decorated. The unit is situated at the end of a dead-end street, and is hard to see from the road - however, once you are on the property, you get an appreciation of the privacy, and how really quiet it is in this neighborhood. The property is located just a block off of Paseo de Paralta, which is the main loop thoroughfare throughout Santa Fe. We did not walk to the Plaza from the unit, but we could have easily done so, as it is only about a mile. We enjoyed most having the extra room inside the unit, as well as the private sitting area outside the unit. I would highly recommend this unit if you are looking for a larger than average accommodation, ground floor, and an easy to work with owner.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

In the fall of 2009 my wife and I visited Santa Fe, NM. Rather than stay in a hotel, we opted to rent a condo. This was one of the best travel decisions we've ever made. The condo is terrific!! Very clean, newly remodeled and nicely furnished. The privacy and convenient parking are a real plus. Close enough for us to walk downtown. The owner of the condo was very helpful in advising us of the local restaurants, art galleries, and many other Santa Fe attractions. We plan to visit Santa Fe again this summer and definetly will stay at this condo again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/4

As a gallery owner, I make several trips a year to Santa Fe and I have stayed at Casita de Colores every time I went there in the last year. The experience has been outstanding every single time! I did notice that the pictures do not come close to conveying just how spacious and lovely the casita really is. Both of the owners worked in the hotel/hospitality industry and it really shows! The casita is warm and inviting, with a great attention to detail. I have stayed at other vacation rentals nearby and at best they are small and cramped, with little more space than your average hotel room. This casita is LARGE! There is a lot of room to spread out and three or four people could stay there and not feel like they are on top of each other! The owners (Alexis and Meg) are available at a moment's notice for help or suggestions on where to go or what to see, and unlike most owners who live out of town, both are Santa Feans. The casita is close to the Plaza (I was able to walk there in under 10 minutes) but on a quiet side street and there is ample off street parking (if you've been to Santa Fe, you know how hard it is to find parking, especially during the festivals). All in all, I can't say enough great about this casita and I will continue to stay there each time I visit Santa Fe!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in Alexis' charming casita for a week in October and absolutely loved it. The casita is MUCH bigger than it appears in the photo and extremely clean, neat and newly decorated. The location is excellent for walking to the plaza, about 7 blocks, but at night we did drive. It is also convenient to the freeway for trips. The bed and bedding were wonderful. Alexis had an over the top basket waiting for us with wine, chips, salsa, candy, wow. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Casita de Colores & certainly hope to return. - Oh, yes, Alexis is the most responsive hostess you will ever have; just mention something you need or have a question about or she thinks you might need and she is there immediately!Did you find this review helpful?
