We visited Maggie Valley for the first time, and really enjoyed our stay. Jim and Michele were very helpful, and the cabin was very clean and spacious. We really enjoyed the large basement with gas fireplace. We took a day trip to the Cataloochee Valley to hike and see the elk. What a great experience! Soco Falls is another must-see - only 20 minutes away. We definitely plan to return to this cabin and Maggie Valley - most likely for skiing this winter.Did you find this review helpful? My friends and I planned a weekend snowboarding trip, and we rented this cabin because it had a lot of functional space to accommodate 4 adults and a 2 year old. The location was great - right at the base of the mountain. The property was very clean and had good sized rooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was very well stocked and had pretty much everything you could need for either a casual breakfast or a three course meal. It really felt like a home away from home. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a weekend getaway!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We loved the cabin. It was very nice, well maintained, and lots space. Appreciated the information you provided about the area including places to visit and eat. We took you up on several of your suggestions and were not disappointed. Lots of little things that added to our stay like the hamper in the bedroom to put our dirty clothes in, selection of movies etc.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had tried to rent Maggie Memories several times but it was not available. We finally succeeded and spent 10 days there recently. It was well worth the wait. Everything in the cabin is as described and then some. Within the first hour of being there, we felt like we were home. The cabin was spotless on arrival. All amenities were supplied, especially a well equipped kitchen-even a magnified make-up mirror! White linens-soft and smelling divine-were on the comfy beds and in the baths. There is a selection of DVD's that would last a month! We can't wait to go back-the location is so perfect for any season-very easy access yet you feel like you are nestled in the mountains. Thank you Jim and Michele. You are very gracious and thoughtful "hosts".Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I met here to get away for a long weekend and it was the perfect setting. Multiple living spaces made us feel like we weren't on top of each other and the views were amazing in every room. My mom is very picky about cleanliness, smell, etc. and this cabin exceeded her expectations so much that she began talking about our next visit on our second day! Very clean and had everything we needed. Michele and Jim were very welcoming and helpful throughout our entire stay. I highly recommend this cabin for any getaway or vacation you are planning.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin was perfect for our long weekend in the mountains. There were 6 adults and a 2 year old in our party and there was plenty of space for everyone. The two living areas was a really nice perk. The house was clean and had everything we needed for a nice getaway weekend. Even more importantly, the cabin was very close to skiing/snowboarding. We wished the temps were colder while we were there, but we made the most of the weekend and had a great trip! The owners were great to work with too- they always responded very quickly to my emails and answered my many questions. We are already talking about staying here again next year. Thanks for a great weekend!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We found the cabin to be very comfortable and warm. Everything is there, more than what you would expect in a rental cabin. Rooms are spacious and the kitchen was easy to work with. Fireplaces were a great touch and kept us warm during the cold evenings and mornings. Great views out back from the 2 decks. One thing was that it was easy to get to and drive even during snow. Jim and Michele are at your service via phone or email if you need them. We hope to be back there soon as we miss the place already.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at this place. We all had a huge smile when we arrived, it was so warm and cozy. Very nice touch to walk in with beautiful music playing and the fireplace lit, ready for us to just relax. The beds are sooo comfortable, I pulled the cover up to my nose and totally relaxed with the sweet smell from the bed sheets. The decorations are precious and view from all windows and deck are awesome. I was shocked how well the kitchen was stocked, made me want to cook a meal. We all slept well and we left with huge smiles. The care from owners the house really shows. We will be back.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Maggie Memories is a wonderful place. Jim called not long after we arrived and asked if it was as we expected-we expected views and fresh air, but how could we have expected church bells as if carried on the breezes and a wispy rainbow after a distant rain? The front porch is great for reading and looking at views with rockers and benches. The back decks looks over the valley area and looks toward Mt Lyn Lowry where a the side of a cross glows in the night sky (we did go find a front view one morning), and mountains that change day to day. The house is comfortable and has plenty of room, upstairs and downstars are equally wonderful. A lot of thought and care have been taken here, the beds are comfortable to recharge the batteries after a busy day; there is plenty of seating for tv watching and even a sitting area downstairs for visiting or reading. There were touches we were still discovering as time was winding down. The cabin is set up so that the views are the focus, drawing you outside at every available moment. (My 87 year old mother wants me to make sure to mention that she found it very elderly friendly--porch and deck on the main level have no steps). Maggie Memories is surprisingly convenient to everything, when you look at pictures it seems remote but it is close enough to make a quick trip to the store for missing items, you don't have to plan to be gone for 30 minutes. Hwy 19 gets you to Cherokee and toward Waynesville. Breakfast at Joey's a must--lines tell the story. So Jim, I need to change my answer or at least qualify my answer. Maggie Memories was not what we expected, it was more. We look forward to going back sometime. Thanks for the Memories (all pun intended).Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful family vacation! We can't wait to return to Maggie Valley and Maggie Memories! Our family of six arrived at 10pm, after driving all day, to a well lit home with soothing music playing. It was so welcoming! We loved the house right away. Plenty of space for each of us! It truly was like home away from home! Everything we needed was provided for us! This was the best stocked rental home we have ever visited! The area is the best! Blackberry picking, real gem mining, sliding rock, waterfalls, Lake Junaluska, Carpet golf, (such great memories ) Waynesville, what a great little town, with the best apple pastries and blueberry pie ever! The greatest restaurants and such amazing sights to see daily! It made me want to buy a home right in the same area as Maggie Memories. Such the perfect location for families it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to all the action! Thank you Thank you Michelle and Jim for the memories we have! Our son drove for the first time in his life in the Ghost town parking lot! Maggie Valley will always hold dear memories for our family!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We LOVED staying at Maggie Memories! The beautifully decorated log cabin makes one feel right at home. Jim and Michelle certainly have a great eye for detail and pay attention to all the things that make a vacation comfortable and relaxing. The cabin is well stocked with great books, magazines, DVDs, music, cooking supplies, etc. The patriotic themed bedroom downstairs is very nice as is the other two bedrooms upstairs. It certainly is like home away from home. We enjoyed taking in many of the wonderful sights around the area as well as just spending time at the cabin, eating meals with a great view of the mountains, and sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch while looking at the flowers. We wish we could have stayed longer and look forward to visiting again. The listing description is totally accurate. The listing photos of the property appearance are great, but not as great as seeing it in person. The property is super clean and well -maintained. The owners are very friendly and attentive to any questions and/or needs that arise.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Maggie Memories is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the quaint town of Maggie Valley. We scheduled a short vacation to the mountains and found the a place that accommodates the needs of our family with a spectacular view if the mountains and all the amenities you need to have a wonderful vacation. One of our four daughters wanted to make this trip memorable by getting married during our yearly trip to the mountains. Maggie Memories was a great place to make this occasion wonderful, from waking up to a wonderful view, getting ready for the wedding, to a short drive to the chapel and a wonderful experience of people who are kind, caring and make you feel like they have known you for years. Even though we didn't have the opportunity to meet the owners you felt like they were part of your family. Michele and Jim extended their hospitality to strangers and welcomed you into their home. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the master bedroom has a view of the mountains that is breath taking. I would recommend this cabin to anyone vacationing in Maggie Valley. Maggie Memories indeed makes memories you will want to remember forever. Thank you Jim and Michele for sharing your home with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed 7/2011. The attention to detail by the owners is unmatched. We have rented in western NC many times. The view was better than the pictures show. The place was clean and everything we needed was found. The place have both family gathering areas and quiet spots to read or take a nap. It is close to town yet the views are of mountains, trees etc so it seems your in the wilderness. The owners go the extra mile to help you if you ask for advice. The beds, couches etc are comfortable. The appliances, TV's, pots and pans, dishes etc are not the cheap type but high quality. I also want to stay that many cabins will require you to haul out your own trash which is messy and time consuming - these owners take care of that so you don't have to worry. The owners truley want you to feel at home and enjoy your stay in their cabin. I took the time to read the guest book there and all loved their stay. With many activies and palces to go in the area you will find that after you stay there you'll want to just stay at the cabin a few days to enjoy it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned home after spending a wonderful week at Maggie Memories in Maggie Valley. The cabin was modern, spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed our stay at Maggie Memories over the Memorial Day weekend! The cabin has absolutely everything anyone could need and the view was awesome. I can only imagine how the fall colors would look! My parents really liked that we didn't have to drive up a steep mountain to get such a wonderful view. The cabin is so close to everything and made it convenient to run out and get something without "dreading" the drive down. The way the cabin is laid out is really like having two cabins in one. It would be perfect for a family reunion. Everything was so clean and nicely decorated-we felt at home right away. The neighborhood was quiet and well kept. We've stayed several places in Maggie Valley and this was one of our favorites. The home owners were very attentive and I received my deposit back a couple of days after I got home-wow. My family and I really appreciate you allowing us to stay in your home. It was beautiful! I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Maggie Valley.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Maggie Memories on a recommendation and we were not disappointed. We arrived at night and thought we’d have a hard time finding it but the roads leading to the cabin were easy to navigate and were well lit. We got a call from Jim the next morning and got lots of recommendations for things to do. Michelle had also given us tons of useful info before our arrival. They were both very courteous and friendly. The cabin was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen is equipped with mostly everything you need to cook. We did our grocery shopping at Ingles which is just a short drive away. At night while the kids were winding down it was nice to have a collection of DVDs to sort through. We had a great time and definitely recommend staying here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We spent a week at Maggie Memories and enjoyed one of the best vacations we’ve ever had in NC. It’s close to the Blue Ridge Parkway where we do a lot of photography, easy to find and easy to reach. Unlike a lot of vacation rentals, the way it appears on the website is exactly the way it looks when you see it in person. Loading and unloading are super-convenient. Get out of the car, walk three paces and you’re on the porch. My wife and I aren’t handicapped, but to our untrained eyes it looked wheelchair-accessible. Check with the owners to be sure. It also offers good security. It’s surrounded by other homes in a sort of cul-de-sac, with no street parking that isn’t in plain view of the other houses. Another advantage is that the door locks and unlocks with a punch pad instead of a key. That’s more secure and gives you one less item to keep up with. If you like a house with a view, Maggie Memories is about as good as it gets. Gorgeous mountain scenery off the back deck, which you can also see through the sliding glass doors and out the kitchen window. The house itself is well-kept and spotless, with all the conveniences. If you watch much TV on vacation, you won’t have a hard time finding your favorite programs. The channel selection is the best we’ve seen so far, and we’ve been visiting the area for years. The people who look after the house do a great job and are readily available if there's an emergency. The owners are friendly, helpful, and easy to work with. The only possible short-term drawback to Maggie Memories would be the ladybugs. For a brief time each year they come to visit, and get inside the houses no matter what. They were apparently at their thickest just before we arrived. The people who stayed there right before we did saw so many that the caretaker left them a small, hand-held vacuum to deal with the situation. However, the little ladies were almost gone when we arrived. We only saw about a dozen the entire week, and they caused no problem. We only mention them in case someone who reads this might have a severe case of bugaphobia. In that case, all you have to do is find out the time they pay their yearly visit and schedule around it. Other than that, Maggie Memories is just about the perfect place to stay. It was our first time there, but we don’t expect it to be our last. We just had a great family vacation at the cabin! It was very clean and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. The decor is cozy and welcoming; I especially loved the Patriotic themed room downstairs! There was plenty of space for our family of five and six other adults to sleep comfortably- either in beds, roll-aways, a couch, and one child in a sleeping bag. And the two family rooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) made movie night more convenient: we could have a movie for the kids in one room while the adults in the family room upstairs enjoyed a scary movie. And neither group heard any of the other's movie! The house is high enough in the mountain to have spectacular views, but not so high that driving up to (or down from) the cabin was any real problem on the (paved) road. As for location, we were able to do plenty without too much extra driving around. We went to Smokey Mountain National Park, Newfound Gap, and Clingman's Dome all in one day. We were close to Waynesville and spent a day shopping and eating along Main street. Lake Junaluska was only a 5 minute drive from the house. We also went white water rafting on the Chattooga; this was about 1 1/2 hours away, but there were closer rivers to choose from (ie. the Nantahala and the French Broad). But if you'd like a GREAT rafting adventure, the Chattooga (through the NOC) was absolutely worth the drive!! We spent a day hiking and tubing in Deep Creek in Bryson City, which was only a 25-30 minute drive. And Cherokee is only about 20-25 minutes away from the cabin as well with more great tubing and fun tourist shops. All in all, the cabin was a perfectly located and cozy "home-away-from-home"!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family of four, our best friends and their two children had a fantastic time at Maggie Memories the last week of Dec 2009. We brought in the new year on the slopes. The skiing and snowboarding was wonderful with an extremely thick base for December. We have skiied at Cataloochee for 5 years and their new system of creating snow makes this mountain a great place to ski with families and sooo much eariler in the year!!. We got 3 days of skiing in before we had to return to Birmingham Alabama. The house is well maintained and the owners have provided a large variety of dishes and cookware. We did alot of cooking in the kitchen because at that time of the year places can be closed for the holidays. We always had room for 3 or more friendly cooks in the kitchen. The closet in the 2nd bedroom is even large enough for one of the foldaway beds and it made a great cozy private room for our friend's 7 yr old son who did not want to be downstairs with the older boys. We all had plenty of room to roam and the gas fireplaces were so warm after a day on the slopes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin has everything we needed + more! The view is spectacular and it's located very conveniently in Maggie Valley to all the attractions and tourist areas. To get groceries we had to drive into the next town about 20 minutes away, but the blue ridge parkway, camping, trails and water areas are abundant in the surrounding areas. The master bedroom is large and comfortable and enjoying movies or just hanging out on the porch is relaxing and enjoyable. The owners are very nice and helpful, and in all we highly recommend this as an awesome stay in Maggie Valley.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2
