My sister and I stayed here during first few days of our trip. Being just a few miles from Hana, it's a perfect location to explore this side of the island. The cottage is conveniently close to the road, but far enough away so we weren't bothered by road traffic at all. The area has a private, isolated foresty feel to it with lots of surrounding greenery, and a view of the ocean. It was a full moon so we got to watch it rise, which was wonderful. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the facilities were perfect, clean and well kept. Having the beach equipment was very useful too, we really appreciated that. Loved the grassy area just outside, great place to practice yoga. Didn't realize there was a gardener until we came back one day and the grass was mowed. I loved the seclusion and the fact that there weren't people all around, like the resorts on the other side of the island. Felt like we had our own space. Yet a few miles down the road we could be surrounded by people, so we didn't feel alone. Amanda was wonderful and easy to work with. If I visit Maui again, I will definitely stay here, and will recommend to family and friends. Mahalo Nui, Amanda!!

This was a perfect place to explore the Hana area and the house itself was all I could have asked for. In all of that I agree with the other reviews. My only problem while there was that from 8am-noon on my first day there, I was made aware that this is a working flower farm and had to listen to the sound of weedeaters for those 4 hours. This was going to be my rest and catch up on jet lag day, and this was not to be. Close to noon I did go out and ask when they would be finished, knowing it was not their fault, just doing their job. They were very polite and said they would be finished at noon. For many out exploring this would not be an inconvenience, but just be aware that this could happen. All that being said, I would still recommend this place to stay for all the other great reasons. Oh, and by the way, there is a fruit stand just down the road and a place to buy fresh fish - both were delicious and quite reasonable.

Owner response: Aloha Janice & thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage, despite the early wake up. Our sincerest apologies! Our flower farm policy, for work with weedeaters & the leaf blower, limits use between 10:00am - 4:00pm for guests' quiet enjoyment. Our regular yardman who comes 1-2 times a week was on vacation & the couple he had helping in his absence mistakenly came early to our property. They felt terrible for the oversight! Thank you again for your kind words & for keeping me informed. Our guests' comfort is very important to us. Besides that, it sounds like you found all the right spots during your time in Hana:) Mahalo Nui & happy travels! -Amanda
My husband and I stayed here for one night when we did the "Road to Hana" trip and the accommodations were wonderful! It was very private and everything we had hoped for. Amanda was great to work with - Thanks so much for helping to make our first trip to Maui absolutely amazing!!

Peaceful retreat on Maui
Peaceful retreat on Maui
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and found it very difficult leave this wonderful place! We love the East side of Maui and found this cottage a great base for exploring or just simply relaxing and taking in the beautiful view from the lanai. I felt that there was a lot of thought put into providing us with everything we might need, we were surprised it was so well stocked... there were beach mats, a cooler, even aloe vera for our sunburns! TIPS: I definitely recommend picking up any food or drinks you think you will need before you leave Kahului. The small store in Hana is pricey and lacked many things we would have liked to have. Also, if you decide to make the trip to O'heo gulch or hike the Pipiwai trail (which is gorgeous), try to check out Ae's Thai food truck a couple minutes down the road, it is the best on the island. We really enjoyed everything about staying here and felt it played a big part in making our vacation perfect. We will absolutely return on our next visit. Mahalo!

This is a great place to stay when exploring the Hana side of Maui. We concur with all of the reviews and did not see a trace of any ants :-). We live on Oahu so know that ants come with the territory. The only thing I would recommend, if you are planning on having breakfast or dinner in the well stocked kitchen, is stocking up on groceries before coming to the Hana area. There are two markets in Hana town but selection is somewhat limited. There are two restaurants for dinner after 5:00p.m.- Hana Ranch and the Hotel. Before that you can find a great Thai meal at a little outdoor cafe across from the ball fields in town and next to the Hana School. There are also many fruit/food stands along the way and the Clay oven at the stand 3 miles or so from the cottage does offer pizza on Friday and Saturday evenings. For Sunday dinner look for signs that advertise plate dinners at Koki Beach. This was good and quite fun for our Sunday dinner. There was live music and it's a great way to talk story with some of the locals. Lastly, bring an umbrella so you will be prepared for rain showers, especially in the evening. It's part of the coziness of the location. Aloha!

We highly recommend staying here, it is a wonderful location for exploring this part of the island, & has everything needed to make your stay easy & comfortable. Amanda & Debby were awesome to work with. We would happily stay here again if we get the chance. Don't see this area in one day, you are really missing out if you don't stay longer, & this was the perfect place to stay to do it!

This is much more of a house than a cottage-very well appointed and quite nice with upscale appliances and nice dishes. We happened to be visiting during a very rainy time in late February and the small river next to the house rose dramatically with the flash flooding coming down from the high country. We enjoyed the views of flowers and lush tropical plants from our windows. I loved soaking in the deep tub in rainwater that's supplied to the house. The owner, Amanda, did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The house is clean and the pictures are very accurate. Mahalo Amanda!

After a day of geocaching and sight-seeing along the Hana Road, we finally came to our destination. It was more than we expected -- we'll furnished and delightfully appointed. As we missed getting to the recommended Thai restaurant for dinner, we found our way to the Hasegawa General Store for some dinner fixings and name back to the "cottage" for dinner. Worked just fine. My wife and I spent a week here in the nice cottage. The cottage is just past Nahiku road on the Hana Highway -about 6 miles from Hana. It is well situated to explore te Hana area. We also went to 7 sacred pools twice from here and the venus pool(highly recommend). We loved red sand beach and Waimanapnapa Park. It is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking our meals here. There is TV,movies, internet, free long distance here.We had a great Pizza cooked in an outdoor oven at a roadside side banana bread stand about 3 miles away at the welcome to Hana sign. We used the beach chairs many times at Hamoa bay and Koki beach. The property is very quiet at night and has a jungle feel to it. The stream was dry when we were there. Had a problem with the garburator and Amanda took care of it right away. Amanda was very nice to deal with and we wish we could have met her. Good value here. Mahalo Amanda.
