I have been going to Costa Rica for many years and most of my time has been spent on the Pacific coast. The area around Dominical is my favorite and when I first walked the community of Canto Del Mar I knew this was the place for my family's vacation home. My daughters love the town and the surfing. For my son it is the monkeys that play in the trees by the house. My wife and I love the wonderful people that live in the area and the mix of owners in the community. Adventure and relaxation. It is abundant here in many forms. Within 20 minutes there is world class fishing, surfing, scuba diving, canopy tours, horseback riding, ATV rental, and more. For recovery there are peaceful beaches, spas, massage, and a wide variety of restaurants including gourmet cuisine.
Canto Del Mar (Song of the Sea) is a community located 300 feet above Dominicalito beach 2 kilometers south of Dominical. Named because with the patio doors open you can hear the waves breaking below. It is a peaceful community of luxurious villas walking distance (200 meters) from a beach for swimming and surfing. Another 10 minute walk on a trail will bring you to a crystal clear waterfall in the shaded rain forest for a refreshing swim in cool fresh water. This is a highly desirable and secure community so reservations should be made well in advance.

Why the Owner Chose Dominical
I have traveled to the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica many times over the past ten years. Most of my trips have centered around scuba diving or fishing but also included other activities - Quad tours and canopy tours. Over those first few years I tried to convince my wife to make it a family vacation but she being the protective mom had her doubts even though she had made many trips to Europe in the 80’s. Finally in 2007 I convinced her to come with me to this “3rd world country” for our family vacation and we stayed in Quepos for 10 days. After the first day she asked me why we had not invested here. It didn’t take very long to begin a trip traveling from the southern end of the Osa Peninsula up to the Northern end of the Pacific coast past Tamarindo on an investment tour. Over a week I visited numerous developments and properties in different stages of design and development. Nothing had the impact of the town of Dominical and the community of Canto Del Mar. The welcoming smile of the locals and the warm greetings you receive are genuine. The views of the ocean where the mountains meet the sea, breathtaking. The cool breeze that gently flows off of the Pacific and up the hill, refreshing. The sights of Toucans and Monkeys playing in the rainforest surrounding Villa Bella Mare, enchanting. I knew I had found it. Until recently, Dominical has been a hidden jewel only known to those who would venture off of the paved road 38 km’s south of Quepos on a dirt road with stream crossings that took 2 hours. As of this writing all of it is improved and about 70% of the road is paved. The time on my last trip from Quepos to Villa Bella Mare was 30 minutes. I expect the road to be completed by December 2009 and the trip to be about 20 minutes on one of the best roads you will find in Costa Rica. There is a new “high tech” hospital located about 20 minutes south of Dominical in the town of Cortez that has the latest in equipment and a full medical staff.
The Unique Benefits at this Single Family Luxury Villa
My daughters enjoyed the surf lessons with Janice the most. For my son it is the monkeys that play in the trees at Villa Bella Mare. We have three different species that live in the area. Nancy likes the walks, fresh air and the people that we meet and have gotten to know. For me it is the adventure and abundance of activities available. We are a five minute walk from Dominicalito Beach known as both a swimming and surfing beach. Ten minutes walking along a trail will bring you to a crystal clear fresh water fall. It is a great swimming hole or a place to get a refreshing shower. Locals sometimes are there with their families for a picnic and always welcoming. Sometimes you will see high diving into the deep pool formed by the waterfall. Within 20 minutes you will find Horseback tours with Don Lulo, Surf lessons with Janice, ATV tours with Will and a Canopy tour that is operated on a wildlife reserve that is owned by Jack Ewing (Monkeys are Made of Chocolate) a very popular conservationist. Fishing is world class. Species include: Marlin, Sail, Mahi, Snapper, Tuna, Roosterfish, Dorado, and Snook among others. Scuba diving Cano Island in the Ballena National Park is among the best and keep your eyes open for whales which frequent the area seasonally. For relaxation there is no better place. Massage or yoga at Sophia’s Bamboo Dancer Studio is highly recommended. Spas are also available in Dominical. I find nothing more soothing than sitting under the Palapa on the patio with a cool drink in the evening, looking out at the vastness of the Pacific, listening to the waves gently lap the shore and a very mild breeze blowing up the ridge carrying the coolness of the evening.
A great swimming hole that you can walk to in about 10 minutes. The water is fresh and cool about 75 degrees year round. Sometimes locals picnic here and some dive from the rocks and trees above int
A great beach for walking, running swimming or surfing. A five minute walk from the villa and almost never crowded.
The small town of Dominical has small shops, spas, restaurants of many types and other services and other recreational activities.
An excellent eatery with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean from its location on the tip of Punta Dominical. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and fresh seafood is their speciality.
