The layout of the home is perfect for extended families, groups of friends or executive retreats. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms; Master w/King Bed and Jacuzzi bath and 2nd bedroom w/King Bed and separate bath. Downstairs has 3 bedrooms 1) w/Tempurpedic King mattress, 2) Queen bed and 3) 2 extra long Twin beds that can be put side by side and 2 large separate baths. Downstairs also has a laundry w/Washer/Dryer, entertainment room w/double and single pullouts, storage/workroom, entry foyer with Circular Staircase and airlock entry. Three of the five bedrooms have their own TV's (3 are Flatscreen). There is a double and a single pullout plus a foam floor mattress. Sleeps 10 in beds plus 2-4 in pullouts. We stayed at this property 12/29-01/02 with the party of 13 that included 3 little kids and 2 teenagers. There was enough space for everybody!!! The floor plan is very well thought through and we were not bumping heads in hallways or bathrooms. The second floor with the kitchen, dining area, living room and another area with smaller table suited us great. Men took over the smaller table every night the game of cards, kids were playing in front of the fireplace by the Xmas tree. Dishwasher is very good and quite so we were able to run dishes couple of times through the course of dinner and did not need to yell over it. The kitchen is well stocked and we always had enough dishes, cups and silverware. Some of the plates are chipped but there was enough for us to use anyway. There was not too many wine glasses which Helen (the owner) said will be fixed. Location is great - it took us 10 minutes between the house and slopes of Squaw wich is great especially at the end of the day when we all tired. You can be at home in the hot tub within 20 minutes! Communication with Helen was great - we got all the information on time and she was kind enough to let us check in earlier so we had extra time to put up all the New Year decorations. Separate note about heated floors!! that was our overall favorite feature of the house!! we were all walking around barefooted including kids!! it also helped with drying our ski clothes - just drop them on the floor and they dry and warm by the morning. Overall - great experience worth every penny!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Our daughter recently was married near this beautiful home at Squaw Valley PlumpJacks. Many guests were from out of state, and not familiar with the area, so we invited 11 attendees to stay with us for the weekend, and the house was perfect. It is exceptionally clean, and has everything you would ever want to be comfortable. Lots of private bedrooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space for children to hang out. Easy for cooking with every imaginable gadget in the kitchen. The different locations for TV's and family time kept everyone from getting in each others way. The guys watched football while the ladies found lots to do in Truckee and Tahoe City. Excellent location, with beautiful decor. I can see us returning for winter skiing.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My husband and I rented this beautiful home for a family event being held at High Camp, this past summer (2010). This home is very comfortable and people friendly. Entertaining was a cinch because of the roominess and wonderful kitchen. The surrounding area is just as beautiful, and full of wildlife...there were even bear sightings nearby. All in all we would highly recommend this home to anyone traveling with a family or group of friends, who enjoy a home away from home atmosphere.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We highly enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful. Very spacious and more than enough room for 7 adults and 1 child to spread out and feel comfortable. The living room was a great place for all of us to be able to hang out together, and it was also a bonus to have the downstairs living area as another retreat. The kitchen was fantastic and a good place for us to gather to cook family meals. It is conveniently located a couple of minutes from Squaw Valley and close to Tahoe City. All in all, highly recommended as a vacation getaway!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We rented this fabulous house for a mom's weekend getaway a few weeks ago. It was perfect! The home was incredibly spacious and comfortable and accommodated our large group very well. The location could not be beat - just minutes to Squaw. The beds were wonderful too. Helen was extremely helpful and very professional, she made the rental process very easy. This house is spectacular, and I couldn't recommend it more highly! We rented it last weekend with 4 couples and 4 single guests (12 in all) and had a fantastic experience. It has that perfect blend of luxuriant comfort and cozy warmth that is hard to find. Everyone in our group kept commenting on how beautiful and roomy the house is, and the giant living room is perfect for spending time together with a large group. All the beds are comfortable, and the cleaning crew does a great job of making you feel like the house is brand new and you're the first to stay there. Everything is designed well - the hot tub and bbq are outdoors, but covered, so you can enjoy being outside without having to spend an hour digging off the snow. The rooms are very spacious and everyone thought the beds were particularly comfortable, and the bathrooms clean and fresh. It also has a great, modern kitchen and huge stove, which makes it fun to cook up a meal for 12. And perhaps most importantly, it's less than a 5 minute drive to the base at Squaw Valley and less than 10 minutes to Alpine. I'm not sure you could find a better place to stay - if this house fits your group size and budget, I wouldn't hesitate to rent it (unless of course it's at a time when I'm hoping to rent it again :-).Did you find this review helpful? We loved this house! It was perfect for our group size (4 couples) - everyone had enough space when we wanted down time. The large great-room was wonderful!! It's a large house but feels cozy! About the owner: Our active family was coming up to Lake Tahoe to ski or enjoy the summers almost every weekend and holiday from the Bay Area. Our dream was to have our own home right in Squaw Valley. We started with a tiny two bedroom condo in Alpine Meadows, but finally we designed and built our dream vacation home in 2005- Squaw Valley Manor. My son Brian went on to be a Junior Olympian and ski team coach at Squaw Valley and is now in graduate school in San Francisco. My daughter Jessica is now a veterinarian in Las Vegas. I reside in Reno, Nevada just a 45 minute drive away. We love our home, but our need for it has lessened. Therefore, we are pleased to share its wonderful amenities and location with discriminating vacationers.
Why the Owner Chose Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley):
The location and setting could not be more perfect. Squaw Valley Manor is only 5 minutes or 2 miles from the Village at Squaw Valley and 1 mile from the Resort at Squaw Creek. There is no Highway 89 traffic to deal with when getting up to ski in the morning. You are already in Squaw Valley. Alpine Meadows as an alternative ski resort is just up the road off Hwy 89. It is 10 miles from Truckee and 5 miles from Tahoe City. There are nearby biking trails along the Truckee River. There is a shuttle bus at the end of the street. The home sits on a bright sunny LEVEL location with fabulous views of Painted Rock.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is a luxury executive estate with upscale furnishing and amenities conveniently located only 5 minutes from Squaw Valley Ski Resort or 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Floors are heated as is the three car garage. The hot tub sits on the covered rear deck with gas barbeque. Beds have luxury linens with down comforters and Egyptian cotton sheets. The kitchen has granite counters, Thermodore range with grill, Monogram built in refrigerator, Bosh dishwasher, trash compactor, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and everything needed to create wonderful holiday meals. The custom circular dining table seats 8, seating for 2 at the adjacent bar and a smaller table for 4 nearby. All bedrooms and baths are spacious. Four bedrooms have their own TV's. Baths are travertine and marble with a large Jacuzzi tub in the master bath. There are two living areas, the upstairs great room and the downstairs den. Both have their own surround sound entertainment systems. Included are laundry, game room, two Extraordinaire fireplaces, entry airlock, foyer and circular staircase. The setting is quiet in the exclusive Painted Rock Estates area.
