The building design is unique in its architecture, and the challenge to "live lightly on the land" is on-going.

With three swimming pools, saunas, tennis courts, a 18-hole championship golf course, and 45 miles of hiking trails that meander along the coastal cliffs, through meadows and forests, there is no shortage of outdoor activity for your Sea Ranch vacation. Why the Owner Chose Sea Ranch

Sea Ranch is without equal. The ocean, mountains, wildlife - a little something for everyone in one of the most pleasant and tranquil climates on the planet.

The Unique Benefits of this House

A four mile hike to Two Fish Bakery is definitely on the agenda to start each morning. The hike begins after stepping out the front door and into the coastal meadow which surrounds house. Slowly the pounding of the surf receeds as you make your way from the ocean and into the trees and up the ridge. Tall redwoods tower over head while ferns blanket the ground. Once conquering the ridge, a well-deserved sticky buns awaits at Two Fish and pleasant downhill walk home.

Great home for our vacationing family...!

We loved our stay! The house was beautiful, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the hot tub views were amazing! We brought our 3 week old, 2 year old, and family dog...plenty of room for everyone. The house had good ocean views and was a short walk to the trail, which leads to beach access. Will def. rent again! Thanks!

Always apprehensive renting a place unseen. This property was more than we expected. Clean, inviting, felt like home. Everything was just as advertised. Hiking and trail availability were outstanding. Weather was a bit inclement but, we read books and relaxed (isn't that what we were supposed to do?). We would certainly recommend this place and hope to return.

Very roomy and comfortable house, even for 5 people and a dog!

Great house, secluded location, responsive and friendly owners! Even though it's just a 2 bedroom house, it's laid out in such a way that 5 people (3 adults, 2 kids) and a dog never felt crowded. Nice amenities, attention to detail, and comfy furnishings make this one of our favorites, and we've been renting vacation homes in Sea Ranch for the past 6 years. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and look forward to returning in 2011. Thanks!

We really appreciate all of the attention to details that you and your wife obviously went through to make stays here enjoyable and comfortable. I have rented vacation houses for many years and can honestly say that your house is one of the best that I have encountered. Not only are the accommodations, furnishings and amenities nice, clean and comfortable, but all the little "homey" furnishings scattered around make your place feel very welcoming. The binder with all of the information is just amazing. I have never seen anything as well organized and instructive as that in a vacation rental. I mean, you even had instructions on use to use the light switches! The kitchen is well stocked with everything one needs to cook. One little suggestion is that it would have been nice if you had a dish drying rack available. We don't always like to use the dishwasher, especially when something just needs rinsing, so we hand washed quite a few things everyday and placed them on a towel on the counter top.

Such a great place!

The two of us and our Golden Retriever spent 8 days here. It was our first visit to The Sea Ranch, although my wife lived about 30 minutes north here at one time. The house is wonderful - larger on the inside than it appears. The beds are comfortable. The owner has provided a DVD player along with a home theater system, so watching a DVD becomes a fun event! The neighborhood is very quiet; you cannot hear the highway at all. It was fun to sit out in the chairs further out in the back yard and just gaze at the ocean. At night, there's no light pollution, and the stars are plentiful. The owner does have a small telescope available. The hiking at The Sea Ranch is very nice. I recommend going to The Hot Spot, which is a beach area on the South Fork of the Gualala River. Deer graze in the meadow and even come into the back yard. And one morning we saw a fox on the little mound off to the right! The nearby Twofish Bakery makes excellent pastries and breads. The Kalamata olive loaf, only made on Saturdays, is fantastic! We were sad to leave and return to civilization, but we are already looking at our schedule to see when we can return.

Supper Vacation House

This is one of the nicest vacation rentals homes I have every rented. Everything you need is there you only need to bring yourself and food. There are plenty of pots and pans and they are not all pyrex, it fact they have some top quality frying pans. The large binder was filled with information on how to use things within the house to all the things to do in the area. The owner even provided multiple copies of maps to take with you and you didn't have to worry if you forgot to put it back. The book also provided a lot of information on what to do in the area. The house is very well decorated, we felt very at home. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and it was a great place to take walks, talk, and share a bottle of wine on the deck. We when to the St Orres Restaurant, about one mile above Gualala, for our 40th anniversary dinner. The restaurant is wonderful, quaint, quite, and great food, although a little pricey. Our daughter and her 8 yr son came up for a few days and he had a wonderful time, taking hikes and playing on the beach. I would highly recommend this house to anyone that wants to get away and relax. Also Keith the owner was great to work with, responded to emails and phone calls quickly when I had questions before renting the house, he also quickly returned the deposit money, no waiting 4 to 6 weeks.

Perfect Get Away

Guest: Jen (Sacramento Area)
Date of Stay: 06/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/12/10

Great house, well furnished and plenty to keep you busy aside from the ocean, trails and everything else in the area. My kids are 10 & 11, my husband passed away last July, so this was our "getaway" and it was a perfect choice. The drive from the Sacramento area was nice and it didn't take too long to get there. Getting around the area of the Sea Ranch was exceptionally easy, especially for someone who is directionally challenged, as myself. The owner returned a call within 2 minutes when I had a question, his communication via email prior to our vacation was excellent, and the price was reasonable and affordable. The yard was large and we saw several deer, a rabbit & a fox and several different types of birds, including the hawks... my favorite. The porch was stocked full of fire wood and there were even fire starter bricks inside near the fire place. We didn't use the stereo system, but only because the peace and quiet was so enjoyable. The second bedroom had a "king" which was two twins pushed together... this did not create a problem for us because the kids slept in that bedroom. It's unfortunate someone built a house right in the middle of the awesome view of the ocean, it was a little disappointing (and no fault of the owners) but you can still see the water from the yard. The hot tub was nice and relaxing and easy to use. The owners left a card and bottle of wine on the counter and also have created a very handy binder to guide you in using the appliances. The binder also included menu's, places to go and several maps of the area. The beaches were all close by and we found some more accessable than others. Black point beach is a short walk, but no place to bathe in the sun. Pebble beach was one of our favorites, a short hike and you're there, with lots of wildlife to view. Shell beach was beautiful but didn't have many shells and it was quite a bit further to get to the water. The sand was soft and there was a lot of it... not a good beach to go to on a windy day, the sand hitting your legs stung a little bit. The area was beautiful and the small towns north and south of Sea Ranch were great places to visit. Bones Roadhouse in Gualala is highly recommended... especially for breakfast. I would definitly recommend this house/property to anyone looking to stay at the Sea Ranch.

This is a very comfortable and well-cared-for home in a lovely setting. The configuration works perfectly for two couples. The bedrooms are similar in size and configuration, with nice views, and private baths. The beds and linens are the best we’ve ever had in a rental home. Throughout the house the extensive artwork and décor perfectly complement the surroundings. Wireless Internet and a good (iPod compatible) sound system were bonus features that we really enjoyed. The kitchen has ample windows with views of the sea and meadow. It is well stocked and the appliances are excellent. If you are planning to cook keep in mind that nearly all of the pots and pans are Pyrex. You’ll have a great time walking the bluff trails where the scenery is so beautiful it defies description. Afterward relax on the deck and watch deer, fox, rabbits, hawks, and other wildlife across the meadow. There are plenty of other day activities including hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, wine tasting, and browsing the galleries and specialty shops in town. In this rural area things shut down early in the evenings so teens and twenty-somethings may get a little restless but the home is well stocked with movies, games, a telescope, puzzles, and books.
