Best Secret at Kirkwood

First time here, but we'll definitely be back (best deal for $ at Kwood!). We've rented homes and condos in village and this is by far the better spot; secluded home on the meadow with awesome views of Redcliffs and ski mountain. Great windows and views with a great wood stove and plasma TV in great room. Shuttle picks you up so no driving necessary. Lots of cool rooms in house gives good privacy for all.

A group of us rented this house last year and had a great time. We found the house to be cozy and comfortable. There's plenty of rooms to sitck everyone. While the sun was still out we sat out on the deck and had cheese and wine. Great view! Also-it's also nice that the shuttle comes to pick you up right in front of the house. Good value.

This is a duplex with dangerous access in the winter

Guest: CL (SF, CA)
Date of Stay: 02/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/16/11

We had a poor experience at this house. This is a duplex, not a single family house. A caretaker lives in the other apartment in this house and the walls are very thin. The main stairs to the house are carved in ice and VERY dangerous - they are literally carved in a wall of ice and nearly impossible to safely pass at night (NO KIDS!). Finally, the owner gouged us on the housekeeping and a slightly broken picture frame.

Owner response:This unhappy guest damaged the property, did not clean under the Housekeeping Rules stated in the contract, and kept referring to a Duplex when the property is zoned single family.

Kirkwood Experience

Guest: Gunnar (SFO)
Date of Stay: 12/01/10 Review Submitted: 12/17/10

Great layout in home on the meadow looking directly at Red Cliffs. Having the ability to walk right out to the meadow for snowshoeing, nordic skate-skiing and hiking with the dogs was great; way better than a condo in village. Wood-stoves are a great touch and we enjoyed the warmth and atmosphere of a real fire.

Beautiful home with lots of privacy. The wood stoves and deck under the stars really make you feel like your in the mountains. Shuttle service is 2 minutes to the lifts and you can walk to the kirkwood in through the meadow..... Thanks Paul!

Lots of windows looking out to Red Cliffs and The Wall...cool place. Sectioned off so large groups have lots of privacy. Our dogs stayed out on deck while we were skiing. Good, comfortable home and way better than condo price at village area. Thanks Paul!

My fiance' and I absolutely love coming to Kirkwood, and this place is the perfect place to bring our dog! We hate traveling without him. I loved showing up to a cozy, toasty home and the wood burning stoves were all fired up when we arrived. The kitchen is probably the only thing not upgraded, but it had great views of the meadow and there were flat-screens and bose stereo's everywhere. Thanks Paul, we'll be back for sure...

We are long time N. Shore Tahoe residents & we've discovered the perfect getaway in Kirkwood. We like living on N. end, but k'wood is simply the best mtn. w/ always great winter snow....What a great kirkwood home, on the meadow and creek, which was far better than the cramped condos by lifts. Our dogs had more fun than we did! Very cool place with great friendly owner (Paul). I think he's the "Mayor" of Kirkood! Highly recommend.
