  Awesome house for a visit to Dauphine Island....plenty of room inside, and you will love the outside deck. Fabulous for pets, and whether you want to fish the Bay or Swim the Gulf....easy walk on either side...Full Kitchen and laundry room gives you all you need to make a great time there and be able to stay in just like home if you chose. Awesome long counter in the kitchen to eat, and visit at. You can choose to bring some of your own cooking skillets and stuff, but pretty much everything you might want is there. Only suggestion would be for the furniture to be of stronger quality , but overall our family housed 7 people and 3 dogs at Sea Dream for a week and we had a blast. Caretaker of the house was very helpful and very very nice, and the property management was quick to respond to any questions and made the process seemless. We loved our first visit to Dauphine Island and you will too.

  We have been going to Dauphin Island twice a year for ten years (always with our two dogs). This was our 4th consecutive time at Sea Dream. We think it's simply the best. The house is in great shape, (we love the new indoor/outdoor chairs and, although we were happy with the old mattresses, the new covers that arrived when we were there will be tops!) and upkeep is tremendously well done. We walk on the beaches with the dogs and go swimming in the sound; there's a "swimming hole," without rocks right next to the neighbor's dock. When the gulf's not rough we also swim there. We read and nap, then enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and this year we cooked fresh red snapper from the local market. Perfect, perfect, perfect! We always wish we could stay longer and I can hardly wait for our next visit.

  I want to start by stating that I have ALWAYS rented on VRBO for every family vacation that we have booked for the past 10 years and THIS property by far was the absolute worst we have ever stayed at. To begin with here are the things that was wrong: The roof was 4 different colors not accurate according to the pictures, and leaked at one point. The weeds were so tall (2-6 ft) we had to pay someone to mow the weeds (and mosquito's) with NO reimbursement- Housekeeper claims they were sea oats, 2-6 foot tall! Kitchen ceiling is in need of repainting and repair (from water damage) Living room coffee table needed to be thrown away, and dining room had a broken chair Dishwasher loose and needed fixed, pots and pans older than my grandma, and not enough silverware! TV was older than the moon (old tube style tv) Both the QUEEN beds are the HARDEST beds I have ever laid on in my life! We purchased bed toppers to actually try to get some rest....HORRIBLE SLEEPING CONDITIONS! No box springs just a HARD mattress! Closets without hangers to use! Hole in wall of kids room! There was 4 outside chairs broken that we had to throw away- rust on 1 of them so bad, it was terrible! Towels stunk like mildew so bad we had to rewash them immediately upon our arrival. The water heater was set so low that we had to alternate taking showers so we all had hot showers. Can you say ANTS!!! We lost an entire bag of dog food because of ANTS! Dryer took anywhere from 2-3 hours to dry a load of laundry! Contacted the owner of the property upon our departure (the day we got home) and we "were suppose to contact the housekeeper" to get the problems fixed during OUR vacation....Excuse me, but I assumed when I rent a property that it is ready for someone to use, not take notes as to what is or was wrong! I asked owner of this property for a refund (of half of what I paid) and her response ....She would pay me $200 for my problems that I experienced. It took this woman 6 weeks to cash my original check and then I had to play follow up with her because she would NEVER respond to anything! She needs to sell this property to someone that can care for it and see that it gets everything fixed. I do NOT recommend this property to anyone. The owner was very nice and friendly at the beginning and once she got paid, nothing seem to matter. Very sorry we rented this property!

  Owner response: There are a few wonderful people who live near the house and help us look after it (we don't live nearby); they feel very betrayed by these people since they are on call if anyone has a problem and these people didn't say anything until after they had stayed the week and then demanded an almost full refund for a peak summer week. When they emailed me, I of course told them I would refund them if they had had problems (which is why they thought I was so nice in the beginning) but after speaking with the caretaker and handyman and asking the guests for more information and proof of the expenses they claimed they had laid out, we discovered they had fabricated just about everything. They also never paid their total rent due before they arrived. It is very sad when people feel they can "game" the system but fortunately, almost everyone loves this sweet little house and returns from their vacation feeling happy, relaxed and rejuvenated. And that makes us so happy! By the way, we do have a brand new roof, which was put on 2 weeks after these guests departed. Please come, enjoy, bring the kids and the pups and an open heart. We guarantee you will leave even happier! --The owners, caretakers and devotees of the little Seadream House on the Beach

  Don't usually write reviews, but have to tell you we had such a perfect time in your lovely house. And - so did our two doggies. We could leave them loose to go hunt crabs, wade and just hang out outdoors. We could swim in the Gulf or in the Bay and watch the sunset at night. No mosquitos or flies or other annoyances and the kitchen is so together that cooking was fun. Comfy beds. Loverly to have no problems for a week. Thanks so much and we'll be going back after Labor Day.

  We loved everything about this vacation-- the sweet beach house, barbecueing on the back deck, taking the dogs with us on long walks and swims. The bright and airy raised cottage has the bay on one side for mellower swimming, perfect for toddlers, and the gulf about a hundred yards to the south side for wind and waves and white sand, and all dog friendly! The whole strip of unpretentious houses reminds you of other Gulf beaches before they got over-developed into concrete monstrosities. The Sea Dream house was comfortable and modern with a nice open floor plan. We also had fun exploring Dauphin Island-- checked out the Estuarium, the Fort, and the public beach with its wonderful sand dunes-- all very easy and fun. Can't wait to come back.

  We visited the Sea Dream this summer and we were so ready for some time to relax. The home is in a great location, beautiful view of Mobile Bay with your own little beach out back as well as being able to see the Gulf right outside the kitchen window. A few steps away and you're in the Gulf....either way, they are both relaxing with some of the most beautiful sunsets. As for the property itself, it needs some attention and would have been much more appealing if it had actually been cleaned when we arrived. (I cleaned the inside and the bathrooms were in horrible condition. No one offered to come do it or send someone in to do it; which would have been the professional thing to do). They have plenty of room and necessity items, comfortable enough beds and great seating in the kitchen to gather and talk about your day. It really does need some TLC, some indoor furnishings and outdoor items need replaced (end tables, grill, beach chairs - some renters were not respectful of the owners property,) and the outside needs someone to clean up around the property (lots of glass bottles, shingles, trash and boards with nails in them lying around). I think hiring an actual service to maintain and clean it may be what they need, the current people they are using don't seem dependable. We plan to go back, where we will stay has yet to be decided. Though I did not owe the cleaning fee, I felt the owners should have done more to make up for the condition the property was in when we arrived. Overall, it is a great place to go, decent price and if you have pets, they are welcome.

  Owner response: We are very dismayed to read this as Michelle did not tell us when she was there or after that the house wasn't up to par in termms of cleanliness. We do pay a service to keep it clean and rely on feedback from our many renters to let us know how they found the house and we appreciate this information. Everyone else who has stayed there said it was perfect and clean so we're going to see what happened. This may have occurred when the regular housekeeper was out of town and brought in someone else to cover for her; we will find out about that. We also have since bought other outdoor furnishings and had a yard service come round to clean up the area outside. Again, we appreciate the feedback and will be contacting this renter directly.
