We fell in love with Colorado's crisp clean air, crystal blue skies, wildlife and laid back pace as children. Our dream mountain get-a-way was realized in 2006. Designed by Colorado Architect, Patrick Steven's, and built by George Villanyi this home truly embraces, grandeur, nature and comfort. The lot is 1 acre with glorious views of the ski area and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. We have seen foxes sleeping in our back yard and moose grazing on our landscaping. We are thrilled to share this paradise for the first time this ski season and believe that you will be delighted by our accommodations and appointments. Spacious and open are the finished 4000 square feet of living area. We are located an easy 15 minutes from the ski area, and just 100 yards from miles of wilderness trails. You will find games, 62' Plasma TV, a distributed sound system, movies, hot tubbing and books to help you wind down from your custom tailored day.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Winter Park Ranch

My husband is an avid skier and has tackled the toughest terrain in the USA. We chose Winter Park as our skiing home base for the consistent quality of their ski conditions, the variety of trails, the excellent ski school for family and friends, and the close proximity to the Denver airport. It is less than a 2 hour drive from terminal to our front door.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Not only is the Winter Park / Mary Jane downhill facilities marvelous but we are located 100 yards from the "Red Gate" which is the access to the Rocky Mountain National Forest where cross country skiing and snow shoeing, hiking and biking are a dream. But wait there is more; a tubing hill, snow mobile rental, Sleigh rides, and dog sledding are just five minutes from home. A popular attraction is our 7 person hot tub but if there is true pampering on the menu the 5 star, Devils Thumb Spa and Ranch, is but a 15 minute ride. Their restaurants are wonderful as are many in the area. All of which are detailed in our home notebook.

A
Red Gate

Walking distance to entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Forest for hiking, biking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Access all the way up to the continental divide.

B
Safeway

Grocery conveniently located by entrance to neighborhood.

C
Devil's Thumb Ranch

5 star Spa, cross country trails, horse back riding, delicious dining.

D
Winter Park Ski Area

Location of main base lodge, parking, ski school and summer park daily activities.

E
Mary Jane Ski Area

Entrance to Mary Jane mountain connected to Winter Park. More advanced runs with above tree line access.

F
Ski & Snow Board Shop

All kinds of winter and summer rental equipment available.

G
Tubing Hill

Needing more excitement? Sail down this open hill on tubes and enjoy the rope tow up.

H
Grand Adventures

Snow mobile rental. A variety of mountain tours available.

Owner's Map of Private Homes, Winter Park Ranch

Our family loves the mountains with all of the beauty and sports they have to offer year round. Our children started skiing when they were 5 and now as teenagers they ski like their daredevil father. The variety of activities with summer boating on Grand Lake, white water rafting, hot sulfur springs, hiking, biking fishing, just scratches the surface of summer then on to winter where limitations are self imposed. We have found the mountains a perfect place to un-wind our whirl wind schedules and spend quality time with family and friends.

Christmas

We spent the holidays is this home, There were 14 of us; six were children and teens. The decor is what you would expect in the mountains, very roomy, and with a very large kitchen so we could all cook together. We also played games and watched movies. We skied, watched fireworks on Christmas eve, and had a wonderful time together as a family. We took walks on the trails near the home. This was our second stay it was lovely.

The pictures do not do this property justice. The architecture was top notch in this home. The view and privacy was excellent. We visited in July with four sons (ages 5, 9, 12 and almost 15). It was in close proximity to horseback riding, golf, white water rafting, delicious restaurants, Winter Park (alpine slide, trampolines, mini-golf, zip line, maze and mountain biking). Several churches were nearby as well, including a Catholic parish within 5 minutes. You definitely need a car though as nothing is really within walking distance as it is at the top of a sizable portion of a mountain. The home can easily fit 14 people. The showers had gorgeous tile work with glass doors, plenty of closet space and the roomy gourmet kitchen came in very handy with several cooks in the kitchen at once. Even our sodas tasted better with the clear ice maker to chill or drinks. Our sons loved the urinal off the mud room, playstation and the jacuzzi on the deck over-looking the mountains. I loved the large washer and dryer within the mudroom and the cubbies, hooks and bench in the mudroom simplified what can be a shoe and jacket clutter mess. The three car garage provided plenty of space for golf clubs and recreational gear. There was even a shop vac to touch up your rental car! There were plenty of TVs in the house and was exquisitely decorated. The owner was responsive via phone and email to a couple of questions that we had about the electronics. The property was very clean and well-maintained, towels and sheets were provided, including dedicated ones for the jacuzzi. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Extraordinary!

We loved our spring break stay in the beautiful Colorado home! As two families traveling together, we greatly appreciated two master bedrooms and multiple, spacious living areas. This home is beautiful, thorugh and through, with spectacular mountain views. Close to everything, we enjoyed quick runs to the store, the tubing hill, Winter Park skiing, and (of course!) Hernando's. Working with Ed, the owner, has been a real pleasure. We would highly recommend this home and hope to stay again in the near future!

Spent Dec 24, 25 & 26 in this beautiful home. Two masters and hot tub were great features along with a view to die for. Giant log beam construction was impressive. Property was as described and we would certainly stay in this property again. Owner very easy to work with.

Family Thanksgiving Get-Away 2010

Guest: Linda & Bob (Terre Haute, In)
Date of Stay: 11/24/10 Review Submitted: 11/30/10

This spectacular home was everything we had hoped for. The setting on the mountain side was gorgeous & the house itself had all the amenities that we needed for our large family get-together. It was close to the ski areas, shopping, snowmobiling, etc. & the hot tub was a wonderful way to soothe sore muscles after a day of activities in beautiful Colorado. The setting was so lovely that we used it for our 50th anniversary family picture. We would recommend this home to anyone looking for a great family retreat; we would definitely consider returning
