I am an Artist and a professional Designer of textiles, wallpapers and whatever else comes my way. My home reflects my love of antiques and tranquility. After decades in NYC I purchased this property and have been enjoying the beauty of the Hudson Valley ever since. There is always something new to explore in the area and my life reflects a simple lifestyle off the beaten track, yet part of a fascinating artistic community. Ever since leaving the City I have especially appreciated the abundance of Nature all around me-in my own backyard, hiking the gorgeous mountains and enjoying nearby lakes and the Hudson River. I love to travel and in recent years have been on Safari in Tanzania which stimulated my love of photography. Last winter I spent a good deal of time in Belize and my artwork, as well as my home reflects all of this.

We needed to rent an extra home for visiting family to Woodstock. This property was totally charming, the property is magnificent and well-cared for - also minutes to the village and many local restaurants and attractions. The owner was completely honest on every interaction and clear about what was required for the stay. The house was very clean and since the owner is an artist there were lovely paintings and artwork throughout this historical home. If you want a real getaway from hectic city life, this is absolutely a great choice.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

What a great house! It was PERFECT for our group. We caught a few fish on the fly rod, had a nice cookout, and got over to Levon Helm's studio for a concert. We had a blast in Woodstock and that was in large part thanks to this house providing a great atmosphere for the trip.
Recommended for:Age 55+, pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We were 2 families (3 adults and 3 kids) and we stayed in this house over the recent Memorial Day weekend. We absolutely loved it and didn't want to go home! The house is a lovely old farm house and furnished in a very attractive and laid-back way, and the yard is huge and gorgeous and wonderful for running/playing/jumping kids. We were so relaxed and happy hanging out in the house and yard that we barely went anywhere else during our stay -- just into town for 45 minutes. Also, the separate studio area (up a separate staircase) was a perfect set-up for me with my 19 month old because we could get up early and not wake up anyone else, and he could take his naps undisturbed. I look forward to returning to this lovely get-away for another stay before too long.

My family and I gathered at Laura's house for a few days during the Christmas Holidays this past December. It was a wonderful, perfect time, with grown children and new spouses hunting for a tree (I think they found the last one available in upstate New York! ), making fires, and creating delicious meals. The house is set up just right for people to mingle in the front room, or to wander elsewhere for some quiet. This old farmhouse has much charm, both on it's own, and also with the artistic and warm touches of Ms Katz. We really liked that it felt earthy and welcoming - we weren't afraid to make it our own! It was not pretentious at all, but it was obvious the place is loved. To top off our stay there- the snow fell on Christmas night, with our sons out romping as they have forever when snowballs can be made. It was a pleasure doing business with Laura and I liked her quick replies to questions I had, and her attention to little details that she felt would make our visit be the best it could be. I would definitely recommend this house for a family gathering in the winter,but could imagine it in warm weather as well.
