This is the perfect place. The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed, including beach towels, beach chairs & an umbrella, snorkel gear and coolers to take to the beach. There are board games and books too! We could walk to everything in town which was great. The house looked just like the pictues and Leah was great to work with (Thank You Leah!). Things we loved: The show "Ulelena" at the Maui theater 3 blocks away, The Old Lahaina Luau, The Sugar Museum, Kaanapali Zip Line, Mama's Fish House- pricey but great food and a beautiful view. Our favorite restaurants in town were Kimo's and Longhi's. We ate lunch at both places and went to Longhi's twice and went to Kimo's a second time for the Hula Pie. I would definaly stay here again and would recommend it to freinds & family.

My two girlfriends and I came to Maui for three days in March, and had a terrific time at the cottage. We didn't have any trouble with noise in the morning, and enjoyed our coffee together on the lanai in back. It was so peaceful and inviting. The location was perfect for us, as we loved perusing the art galleries, and it's such a walkable little town. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked and a pleasure to use. I would highly recommend this charming little cottage to anyone visiting Lahaina.

Quaint cottage with modern updates. Well maintained. Owners were easy and pleasant to work with. Location is right in town, literally within steps of everything, so it is a great location. Parking in town is hard to find yet this home has private parking! The home is well equipped with everything we needed. Yes, about 7-8 AM on some days there are trucks coming past the home, including a garbage truck or two emptying dumpsters, but we were awake by then, so no problem. I would consider that type of activity typical in town noise. If I want a downtown Lahaina location, I would definitely try to rent it again!

We stayed in this charming house for 10 day's. Like others have said, It was very clean, well maintained and really well equipped. All the beach stuff was great, lot's of towels, great tub and shower, hardwood floors, newer appliances, updated kitchen and the beds were Very comfortable. Loved the satin sheets. It had a gingerbread cottage feel to it with lovely molding and great lighting fixtures. The parking out front can't be beat. Being in the middle of Lahaina makes it so easy to walk to restaurants and not worry about driving home if you have a drink.Sitting out on the deck in the morning was lovely . Leah obviously has tried to make this house and yard a little oasis in the middle of town. I must confess that I was a little concerned when I drove down the one way street when I arrived. It felt a bit like an alley with a number of other small structures appearing to be in bad shape. There is a tall apartment building beside the house where the walkway faces towards the main windows of the house. There is a bit of a privacy screen outside of the living room window.Another nice little touch. At night many people leave their doors open and you can hear people visiting or watching t.v but not loud or in a bad way. Like a community . The graffiti on the bathroom wall can still be seen under the paint job. It sort of gave us pause. It also looked like the front door had been jimmied . Having said that, we felt totally safe. We didn't see drunk or homeless people going by , as described by someone else. I would absolutely recommend this house to people who are comfortable with being in the middle of things and don't want a gated community feel AND most importantly, who are early risers. For 7/10 days we had the garbage trucks wake us no later than 6 a.m. The 3 industrial sized dumpsters right beside this lot , are VERY noisy as they get emptied. You can also hear them being opened and closed throughout the day and into the night. One of them is directly beside the bedroom windows. Ear plugs did not help.Than there is the guy who blows leafs with his power leaf blower. He starts equally as early. I only saw reference to the noise in a couple other reviews . Perhaps the house is so nice and has so much going for it that others feel it makes up for this early morning alarm system. If it wasn't for the dumpsters I would have given this house an excellent.

You won't regret a minute of your stay in Maui! Close to everything, yet peaceful & quiet..the perfect combination. The house has everything you need for at home comfort.Having the laundry room is a huge plus..we got home from vacation with 1 small load of laundry. It was a pleasure! Plus everything you need for the beach is there.Snorkel equipment, beach chairs, coolers, etc. All of your bases are covered. As for the area,it's phenomenal.Restaurants galore, beach just blocks away & more retail than you have money.Just beware of the deals for activities on the street. There's going to be a time share/vacation deal attatched to those great prices they offer you.Just buyer beware.Pay the full price for your activity & be on your way.So that being said,we LOVED the house & location & would rent it again in a flash.Rent with full confidence that you will get the most value for your dollar & absolute joy of the paradise you're staying in! If this is a 5 star system we give it a 6.Mahalo!

All the comforts of home in a way better location. A great house, very cozy. Owner was very accomodating. It's great to be in the middle of town with everything in walking distance. No worries from the neighbors. A great vacation that was absolutely made better by having a house to ourselves vs a hotel box. Loved it.

My wife and I and another couple stayed here for 8 days. What a great place to call home for a vacation. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout, and a backyard and lanai large enought to entertain friends(which we did on a couple of occasions). We will be calling Leah again on a return trip to Maui. I read a poor review on this property and could'nt disagree more. This home has all the charm you would want in a vacation property. Centrally located one block off of Front street, walking distance to shops eateries, what more could you ask for? The property is for sale and apparently bothers some prospective vacationers, but should not. All the proof I needed that we picked the right place was when I heard our wives giggles of delight as they entered the home. Leah was wonderful to work with and look forward in doing so again. As for dining out, the Aloha mixed plate was my favorite in Lahaina and Wow-wee Maui near the airport. Again, 771 Luakini St. is the place to stay in Lahaina. This place oozes aloha

This property is darling, clean, well maintained inside and outside. Modern kitchen, new landscaping, very soft comfortable beds. Owner very helpful including video preview, maps of the area, things to do. Steps to Front Street through the back garden and adjacent parking area. NOISE POLLUTION in early morning @6:30am each day~adjacent property directly next to bedrooms holds several large garbage dumpsters that are noisily emptied by lifting and banging them into the garbage trucks. Same property is a public parking lot used all hours day or night. Terrific place for early risers and/or deep sleepers! Otherwise, not so great.
Owner response:We appreciate your comments and are happy that although it was a bit noisy during your stay, you still had "a wonderful week in Lahaina staying at 771 Luakini St! " Adding, "The cottage is sweet and cozy and we enjoyed it very much." It is great to be in a house located right in the heart of lively Lahaina town! This is our first comment received regarding a noise factor and we do make every effort to check in with all our guests to hear any feedback they have so as to improve their vacation experience.

Thank you for making our staying in Maui like HOME! It was a perfect place for our family of five. The location was great for walking to get dinner, shopping and entertainment. We had planned on cooking every meal but could not resist the nightly dinners out. We did cook one night and ordered pizza from Lahaina Pizza Co for our boys while we enjoyed a night out. Our boys are teenagers and we felt comfortable leaving them in the house. Waking up every morning to cooking breakfast was GREAT before heading out to the beach or an activity. Foodland was the place to shop and we only went there twice. You only need to pack light for your trip having the washer and dryer worked out great for us. For our next visit to Maui we will be booking this home again! Thanks Leah for your help in making our stay GREAT!!!! The Taylor Family Rocklin, California

Dear Leah; I was going to email you to tell you that we absolutely LOVED being in your house while in Lahaina - it is a sweet, special home - an oasis of peace and calm on a quirky little road! The house was comfortable and we all loved the furnishings. It was our pleasure to be there. It was a pleasure doing business with you as well. I wish you all the best. Jean PS I loved looking at the little pictures in the bathroom and bedroom by Kristen Bunney. I just happened to stumble on her gallery in Makaweo, and bought a small giclee of Haleakala - great memories. Be well, jas

We came to Hawaii to celebrate my wife's retirement, we brought my daughter, son in law and grandson who was 18 months. This house was perfect for us. The inside was so nice and renovated but the best part was the location. It was located within walking distance of the main strip which made it so nice to be able to walk to all the restaurants and shops. One day my wife and grandson stayed at the house while we went to the zip line. It was great my wife was able to get out with my grandson while we were gone and didn't need a car. Highly recommend this house, Leah was so helpful with everything. I actually left a pair of my shoes at the house the day we were leaving. Leah called me on my cell phone and drove to meet me so I could get my shoes back before we left. Excellent customer service! Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful.

The house has been redone with incredible style and detail. That's about all I can say nice about it though. What isn't shown in pictures is that there is a towering apartment complex on one side, with the walkway to the apartments overlooking the living room. On the other side is a parking lot with two dumpsters right up against the house and a large light shining in the bedroom window all night. Directly behind the property are Front Street businesses and their three dumpsters. We attempted to sit outside for dinner one night and were infested with flies from the numerous dumpsters surrounding the property. The properties just a few doors down on Luakini Street looked very shady - tarps covering roofs, old air conditioners and junked cars in the yards and lots of intoxicated people stumbling down the street at night. In general, there was just a lot of foot traffic on Luakini Street. At no point did we feel comfortable leaving windows open if we were going out. Not to mention there was absolutely no cross breeze, so leaving the windows open was not an option. The two window air conditioners in the bedrooms were not enough to carry the living area. Leah did bring us an additional air conditioner for the living room. We saw evidence of graffiti in one bathroom that had one coat of paint over it in an attempt to hide it. Not sure when that occurred, but didn't leave us feeling any safer leaving the windows open when we weren't there. If you can ignore the outside, the inside is quite nice.
Owner response:Still not sure if I will ever understand this guest, she asked for her money back on the afternoon of the last night of her stay. During her stay we installed an additional air conditioner in the living room at her request. The dryer which worked the day before she arrived was suddenly unrepairable, these things happen. I arranged for dryer use with our next door neighbor. This guest did say that she wanted to be in a resort, I had offered for her to move to where ever she wished & to refund her. I wonder why she stayed if she was so unhappy. There are hundreds of condos available at all times except Christmas here on Maui. Her emails were abusive, then they would apologize for it. For a person who reads and resonates with this comment, it must have been meant for them. Maui is a place of spectactular beauty in all directions and love in all of our very different looking faces, if you choose to see it that way, or I guess we could look "different" too, depending on your perspective. Our neighbors are wonderful people and look out for us and each other. For us a new carport from Costco, must look like a plastic tarp shack in certain eyes. We get so happy about shade and simplicity. A trip to Maui is what each person makes it. We have had the most wonderful guests. Some have come to my farm and been so kind friendly and fun.

My wife and my parents stayed around Christmas in 2010. Everything worked out perfectly - the rooms are clean, comfortable, and well decorated, there is a nice kitchen (great and modern appliances!) and sitting room, and the back and front area are nice to sit and relax. The transaction was smooth and easy. Perfect for 4 people who want to stay in Lahaina. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this quaint house at the end of Oct. 2010. We brought my husband's mom & friend with us. The place was magical! We fell in love with Maui, Lahaina & this house! The lanai was the perfect spot for breakfast, the plumeria tree was alive with activity every morning. Everything about it was perfect. Highly recommended! It is exactly as pictured, having our own parking was a plus & the location is perfect for strolling to find a dinner spot close by. We will definitely return as soon as possible. Thanks, Leah!!

My husband & I rented Leah's wonderful home while visiting Maui for a friend's wedding. We LOVED this place!! The kitchen - and actually the entire house - was beautifully furnished. It was so great being so close to Front Street and all of the fun of Lahaina. To tell the truth, our friends that stayed in the beachside resorts were jealous of our find in the heart of Lahaina. Leah was amazingly gracious and instrumental in advice for making our trip to Maui truly memorable. If you're looking to truly experience the "Aloha Spirit" - this rental is a great place to start!
Owner response:Thank you, Maui is so lucky to have you guys as guests. You were so kind and it was wonderful to speak with you. I am so happy you enjoyed your Maui trip and got out and experienced the Island. We are so grateful to have the incredible guests that book thru VRBO. Come again and send all your great friends. Warmest Aloha to you.

Leah's Lahaina, Maui house is really one of the great finds in all of Hawaii! My friend and I had such a wonderful stay there. We rented the 2-bedroom house for a week and we're so incrediblely happy that we chose it. I did a lot of research on TripAdvisor looking for condos and places to stay before booking the house on VRBO.com. I found out that the a 1-bedroom suite with 2 beds at one of the tourist resorts in Kannapali was quite pricey for what you got. Leah's 2-bedroom/2 bath house is very well-decorated, with a great kitchen, free Wi-Fi, plenty of towels, 2 parking spaces in front and a spacious backyard with banana trees growing in the back (so charming). There are extra little things that really made a HUGE difference in our stay including beach chairs, sun umbrellas, snorkel and body boards, a great washer machine. Those things also cost more money if you were to rent them from a local beach shop or a hotel. The house is also located 1 block from Front Street, where all the great restaurants and bars are. The famous Cheesburger in Paradise is one block away and Bubba Gumps (for kids) is just a couple of blocks down the street. Aloha Mixed Plate (rated #1 for food Hawaiian value) is down the street too. Also, a lot of other "local" food places to eat. We were there for a wedding and other friends rented a place in Kihei and Wailea. A lot of them actually kept on driving up to Lahaina to eat and go out, and all my friend and I had to do was walk out the door and go one block to Front Street. And it's just down the street from the Old Lahaina Luau which is rated the best Luau on the Islands. When they saw our house and where it was located, they were very jealous... lol... :-) When I travel, I prefer to feel more "local" so there's a Foodland supermarket down the street. Also, there's a yoga studio right down the street which is really great. And I took surfing classes at the Goofy Foot surfing school down the street too. There are boats to go snorkeling/scuba diving all by the marina. All was in very easy walking distance. In all, Leah's house in Lahaina is a steal of a deal for what you get - location, great house, and lots of amenities and activities all around. Don't even hesitate to book it if you're interested... if the house is available when you want to go, consider yourself lucky! Book it!

WOW, this property is so charming and well equipped that you will feel certain that Ralph Lauren handled the renovation and Martha Stewart completed the job! An in town center of it all location with not one but 3 coveted parking spots at your front door! And, they are FREE! So is wireless internet and premium TV. But that's just for starters. Granite, Stainless Steel kitchen, designer perfect baths, hardwood floors and enhanced and embellished trim work inside complement the cozy front porch and party sized rear deck on the outside. A "maxed out" Hawaiian Cottage. No, I am not the owner's relative but, yes, we enjoyed our trip while staying at this JEM! I have rented through VRBO.COM 10 previous times and all properties have met my expectations. This charmer exceeded all others that I have visited and I will return! The best of both worlds here. Premium beds/bedding and terrific luxury baths like resorts with the comfort of the high cost hotel villas at a fraction of their price. Everything is nearly brand new. Everything including gourment cookware to Tommy Bahama brand beach chairs, flat screen TV and your own full size washer and dryer. Even the "Junk Drawer" had new decks of cards and paper umbrellas for your cocktails. Walk to all. Terrific owners who are eager to help also make trip planning very simple. Enjoy sunsets at the waters edge only a couple of hundred feet away and the vibe of mid town Lahaina too! Return to your quiet, leafy, mixed use neighborhood home and put your feet up-just a great home away from home! I recommend this home!!!
Owner response:Thanks so much Jim. That is super kind and thoughtful of you to take the time. We get the greatest, kindest most wonderful guests at our little Maui house. Have a beautiful day. Warmest Aloha,

We stayed here for a wedding in Maui and absolutely loved the place. It was a great location...just a quick block away from the downtown stores and Cheeseburger in Paradise. It is one of the only single standing homes around and we loved it! Beautifully decorated and it has such a nice feel to it. There is a great back porch also with a yard that is great for barbequing. We will definately stay there again next time we go to Maui.
