If this rental was a wine, it would be Romanee Conte or Lafite. The house is incredible. Our group of four experienced travelers simply fell in love with it. The furnishings are comfortable. The beds were top of line. The house was immaculate. The view from almost every window was spectacular. The location was close to the charming little town of Sidney and not too far from Victoria. For us, it was the perfect location. The other reviews are spot on and can described it far better than my limited ability. Finally, I found Robert and Mark to be proud owners, honest people, extremely helpful and friendly. I have rented houses in Hawaii through VRBO for the last 10 years and this is the finest rental at which I have stayed.

This was our second stay at Thalassa Point. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The property was spotless and enjoys fantastic views over water and mountains. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets with a glass of wine on the deck was a daily favourite pastime. The owners were lovely people; nothing was ever too much trouble and we feel we have made new friends. If you are looking for a luxury property with unbeatable west coast views then this is the one for you. We will return!

Superb setting, immaculate home, with every imaginable item you might expect in a fine home provided by the owners. We just spent two weeks here with our 2 adult sons. Thalassa Point is meticulous in every detail throughout the home and beautiful grounds. The setting and views of Vancouver and Salt Spring Island are gorgeous . The location offers an incredible amount of privacy, yet is easily accessible to all the amenities in a short drive. The ferry to Vancouver and the Gulf Islands is 10 minutes away, the Town of Sydney and the Airport are also an easy 10 minute drive. Victoria is 30 minutes away. Beauchart Gardens and the Brentwood Ferry are 15 minutes away. We found Thalassa Point a great home base to tour this Scenic region, as well as peaceful oasis to relax and enjoy. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Ron & Mark

This beautiful house has everything and then some.  You have comfort, luxury, super clean, serenity all in one vacation.  Thank you Robert and Mark for a fantastic relaxing vacation.  It was just what we were looking for.   We enjoyed each morning and night on the deck.  I also enjoyed cooking and doing the dishes while admiring the view.  This home was so perfect, it was like "playing house" as a child.   Everything was organized and included directions for appliances etc.  Really, they thought of everything!  I rent many houses through VRBO and this house is on the top of our list. We enjoyed touring the area and returned every day to this spectacular vacation home. Thank you again Robert and Mark.  We hope to see you in the near future. Best, Cathy, Glenn, Wendy & Jay

Owner response: Although I have never responded to a guest review before, I would like to make a comment regarding these folks. In the two plus years that we have been providing our spare home as a vacation rental, we have never had guests that treated the home with such care and consideration. Any VRBO property owner who is lucky enough to have these wonderful people as guests, would be spoiled forever....as we have.

It was several months ago that we found Thalassa Point on the VRBO website and decided to inquire about booking a holiday. We were still deep in a prairie winter at the time and the sunset photo and lush greenery made the house look like it was set in paradise. How wonderful to discover that both the view and the house surpassed all possible expectations. We wanted quiet and got serenity, comfort and got luxury, all wrapped in a spectacular, everything-you-could-possibly-need package. Our week was one we had been looking forward to for a long time and will never forget, and we hope very much to be lucky enough to make a return visit.

My wife and I travel a lot and usually rent a home for a week or more. In all our travels within and outside the United States we have never stayed at a better place than the Thalassa Point Home. It is, in fact a two acre Oceanfront Oasis with views of the ocean, mountains etc that cannot be beat. The pictures on Robert's website give you some idea how incredible the views are but are not close to the real thing. Everything about this vacation home is first class. Starting with the location on Lands End a road with multi-million dollars house and million dollar views of Thalassa point. Inside the house is spotless with furnishings that exceed with 99.99% of people have in their own homes. The dishware (everday and china!), wine glasses (glasses for every type of wine if you can believe that). The furniture is as good as you will find anywhere. There are two master bedrooms suites that look on on the water and the bathrooms also face the water and are very beautiful. There is also a third bedroom that is almost as good as the Master Bedroom suites. Two wood burning fireplace and two more gas. A great office and two major living areas on each floor. Everything conceivable thing you need is at your touch--no thinking requried because the owner Robert has already thought about it. Speaking of Robert--wonderful guy who is there to welcome you and lives next door in another million dollar house and is ready to assist and help you plan your visit. In addition to all the above you are only 20 minutes from victoria and 5 minutes from Sidney a very beautiful seaside town. The bottom line is it doesn't get any better. The only problem is that the house and the view are so incredible you never want to leave to visit the rest of Vancouver Island!! Congrats to Robert and his partner because this property is first class and by far the best rental deal we have ever encountered. I guarantee you that this property will far exceed any expectation you have--and the price is right for living in a million dollar property with a million dollar view. The rating system allows for the max of five stars but this is a 10 STAR property. We will return............. Al and Rhonda Tiedman (rented May 22-29, 2012)

The home at Thalassa point is beautifully decorated, completely furnished with everything you could ever need, and is located in one of the most spectacularly scenic locations I have ever been. Located in the countryside of North Saanich, you are surrounded by farms, vineyards, and forests. Residing on Lands End you are on the northern tip of the peninsula with sweeping views of the water. We enjoyed watching the boats and marine life and listening to the waves lap the shore, as we slept with the windows open at night. The home is serene, private, secluded, and inspirational. We love to cook and found everything we needed to create fabulous meals during our stay. Cocktails on the deck during sunset are not to be missed. Shopping and dining are conveniently located 10 minutes away in Sidney and downtown Victoria is an easy 25 minutes south of the house. We just came back from a remarkable, soothing, relaxing vacation and look forward to our next visit to Thalassa Point. If you are looking to escape from the daily grind with all the convenience and luxurious comfort you could hope to find, Thalassa Point is the place to go!

My wife and myself, our two grown children and their spouses all shared this magnificent house. As Robert showed us around the house, I had to keep raising my lower jaw, since it repeatedly dropped in amazement. We've rented houses before that we thought were wonderful, but nothing has compared to this: spacious rooms, luxurious appointments, gorgeous landscaping and a view overlooking the water and mountains that is beautiful and inspiring. It seems that great care and thought have gone into almost every aspect of the house. As an example, the deck is walled by tempered glass panels, not wood, so the view of the water and mountains is unimpeded. There are lots of electronics (like a gigantic plasma TV, stereo systems, excellent WiFi.) It's just a few minutes drive into Sidney (big enough for 3 supermarkets) for supplies and Victoria is less than a half hour away, but you won't want to leave the house! Why bother? (Since I like to cook and the kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, etc., we ate in six of our seven nights. Even the gas grill was the best I've ever used.) So.... If you are looking for a quiet, wonderful place to spend a week (or more or less) it's hard to imagine doing better than this. The one downside is that it will spoil you for any other rental. (I'm reluctant to write this review. It can only increase the competition for rental in the future.)

We had the privilege of staying at Thalassa Point twice this year -- the first time for about 6 1/2 weeks and the second time for just over a week. In each case, it was a delightful experience and we highly recommend it. The setting is both stunning and private, the accommodation and its appointments are exceptional, and the hosts are attentive without being intrusive. It is the most beautiful and relaxing place we have visited in the more than three decades of travel. Peter Rudin & Dianne Clark Calgary, Alberta

From the moment we drove through the gates of Thalassa Point we knew we had found something special.A secluded location on the water with outstanding views across the Salich sea, a beautiful, superbly appointed house within a delightful garden setting and most helpful owners nearby, combined to give us the best experience of our holidays. We have rented houses in many locations in Europe, UK and North America and Thalassa Point was simply the most relaxing and enjoyable of all.We will definately be looking to return as our stay was all too short this time

Thalassa Point was an excellent property, in which we found it so easy to unwind and relax. The property was spotlessly clean and very well fitted out from the home media room to the cook's kitchen. The views over the water were amazing, particularly the sunsets and seals in the evenings. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble as they clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. We will be back! Martin & Jules

We stayed here for a week in the middle of August. The welcome was warm and the briefing thorough with any other questions being answered during the week. The house is, if anything, better than the description provided; we wanted for nothing in terms of facilities and equipment. The views across the bay were constantly changing and the sunsets superb every night. From the house we saw at different times seals, otters, deer, rabbits and a pair of eagles. Apart from enjoying the house we visited Sidney-by-the-Sea (a 10 minute drive), Victoria, Sooke, and Cowichen during our week there. We visited the Blue Moon restaurant, which was ideal for a first dinner when getting over jet-lag, and several others in Sidney and Victoria. If you wish to explore Victoria and Vancouver Island from a luxurious base then we can thoroughly recommend Thalassa Point.

From the moment we drove down the elegant drive to the house, we were amazed. We were greeted by Robert and shown the house, where our jaws hit the floor. The home was beautifully appointed and the views are drop dead gorgeous. This has been, by far, our best experience with a vacation rental and we have done many. The location is private and quiet and in one of the best neighborhoods on the peninsula. We were graciously taken care of yet given our privacy to relax. There are many things to do in the area and the location is a great jumping off point to hop a ferry to surrounding islands and points of interest. One can also lounge on the deck or by the fire and soak in the views and serenity of this amazing home. Thank you Robert and Mark for an incredible stay and know we will be happy to return again and again.

Hello Robert - I was going to send you a note as soon as I caught up from my week vacation to let you know what a wonderful place you have created. We loved the house, the property, and the location! We treated the house as we would our own, probably even a bit more conscientious since it was so immaculate. We used the garage as our entrance and left our shoes there and it worked out great. Greg and I stayed downstairs and Blair and Jacki in the upstairs master. It gave us a nice separation for personal space. The house was very comfortable and we all loved sitting in the living room with a fire in the evenings or looking out the window with a cup of coffee in the morning. Your grounds are just beautiful. We saw bald eagle, seal, an otter (on the lower grass) and two fawns chasing each other around the yard. We walked up the road, hiked in Horth Park, walked the sea walk in Sidney, drove to Sooke and walked out Whiffen Spit, drove up the coast as far as Duncan meandering through the Cowiche & Maple Bay and toured the BC Royal Museum. We stayed at the house most of Sunday, just to enjoy it, then went to dinner at the Chalet Sunday night where we had a nice conversation with your neighbors the Drakes (introduced to us by our hostess who we had a nice conversation with as well). We hated leaving on Monday - we felt at home immediately and all of your personal touches gave it that feeling - thank you for sharing and hopefully we will see you again in the future - Beverly

We spent one month at Thalassa Point and wished it could have been one year. From the moment you enter this stunning home set amidst meticulously landscaped grounds you are welcomed by the tasteful furnishings and designer decor, plus an extensively equipped kitchen, and abundant household supplies thoughtfully supplied by the owners. And THEN there is the jaw-dropping ocean and mountain view which is like walking into an IMAX Theatre. This truly is an outstanding Holiday Home.
