  My husband and I stayed in the Sago cottage @ Petronia Palms for a week this past January. Sorry for the late entry; just forgot to do it! We really liked Sago cottage. Sago cottage is small but that is the only negative and if you know that going in, you will not be disappointed. It is clean, cozy, has AC, and an amazing amount of supplies for your comfort such as a flat screen t.v., cable, refrigerator, cooking stove, pots, pans, utensils, coffee pot extra blankets and towels,etc. What we liked the best about the cottage is the compound in which it is housed which is quiet, beautifully landscaped (with an obvious effort to maintain the surrounding trees, etc.) and has a nice heated pool. The Petronia Palms complex (of which Sago is one of the cottages) is an easy stroll to all of the excitement of Duval Street, yet we never heard any of the noise when sitting out on the deck @ Sago Palm in the evenings. The deck is not covered at Sago, but that was never an issue when we were there. If if is rainy, you may feel cramped indoors. There is a nice hammock on the deck and your own gas grill. The property manager Christine and her right hand gal Alex are very congenial and helpful. If you have any questions about where to eat, where to go for live music, these gals will know.

  Owner response: Thanks for the nice words. But? Yes, the Sago Palm cottage outside deck is now covered. Just had to go through all the typical Key West Red-Tape and an entire year, so I could finally build the tastefully done outside roof. Take a look on this site, there it it is. The Sago is small, but is the price. We / I try to provide everything that could possibly be needed. I do always check my pricing, compared to my neighbors prices.   This is the cutest cottage and an incredible place to stay in Key West for the money! The owners will do anything they can to help you during your stay. We cannot wait to go back!

  My boyfriend and I just got back from this property. We stayed there for 4 nights before we stayed at another key. The property is absolutely beautiful and is very close to all of the action. We stayed in the smallest cottage; which is all that we needed because we didn’t spend much time at all in the cottage. It was perfect and clean. When we were there, we mostly hung out on the deck and it was beautiful. So was the pool. We also got to check out another one of the cottages; which was a lot bigger and was gorgeous!!! If you are looking for a nice place to stay and don’t need anything too big, stay at the little one. If you plan to spend a little more time in the cottage, pick one of the more spacious ones. Either way, you will be very happy. Everyone does a great job to make the property perfect for you. In addition, Ted had bikes for us to use and we used them just about every day; which was extremely great. However, if you don’t want to bike, Duval is very close and you won’t have any trouble getting around by foot. To sum this up, the property is beautiful. The cottages are very well kept and clean. You have the ability to cook out on grills if you would like. Can't beat the price for being so close to everything! We had a great time and will definitely be back... We might even bring some friends and rent out a couple of his beautiful cottages at the same time!

  As a Conch who likes to come home whenever possible, I can promise you my new place to stay will be at Petronia Palms with Ted and his crew. Kevin and I stayed in Ted's smallest cottage, for a very nice price I might add, and couldn't have been happier. We would wake up in the morning, sit on the porch in our pajamas, drink coffee, surf the net for news on our phones (WiFi available for free) and we knew we were in paradise. The pool is marvelous, the foliage is spectacular, and there is even a Spanish Lime tree (ganipas in other tropical places) on the premises. Look for the round green colored fruit on the ground in the back of the premises, bite into the tough flesh and viola...a melon like color, an indescribable taste, and an overall delicious experience. Regarding the mosquitoes--I am not sure if any were even there, since I knew what the mosquitoes are like in Key West, all of Key West, we brought repellent and wore it everyday. Welcome to the tropics! The cottages and rooms are within walking distance of just about everything, but if you need to get out to the surrounding area you may rent bikes at the corner of Simonton and Truman for a very reasonable price and encounter a bunch of happy locals in the process. We biked around the whole island, and we had a blast in the process. Biking is the way to go in KW. Our stay at PP's was quiet, safe and fantastic. Thank you, Ted and crew! We will be returning, and we have recommended your place to everyone we possibly could.

  I have to respond to the complaint about the mosquitos. I was staying in the Date Palm when this family of three checked in. I had been there for a couple of days and the mosquitos were not any worse than any other tropical location where we vacation. In fact, they were not as bad as the place we live in Alaska. I think this family just did not read the listing very closely or believed that they could stay in a small studio which sleeps 1 or 2 and they wanted a way out of their contract. I was there when the Mosquito Abatement Service came and since I was interested I walked around with him as he checked for standing water and tested for mosquito larvae--he found none. Our experience at Petronia Palms was wonderful and I hope this review does not keep anyone from a great vacation at this delightful place.

Those 3 folks that tried checking into a cottage that only allowed 2 at max. had lied and tried to get in thinking they could sneek in another person and get in on the cheap. I, (the owner) was never told that they were trying to sneak in an additional person , in a cottage that is only a small 220 Sq. Ft. studio and , as advertised, sleeps 2 and no more at max. They have since then, even after Breaking their signed contract, been lying all over the internet and have given me no other choice, but to consider suing them. I have worked real hard on making my compound the perfect place to stay, and I have never dealt with such unreasonable flat out liars. They never stayed and got their money back and have done everything they can do, as lying goes, to ruin my great reputation. And, on top of that? I can't even get their darn lies off the rental sites. Thanks again for your honest comments. I really appreciate it! From the owner of Petronia Palms."

  I just went to look about finally writing a nice review for the Sago Palm Cottage. I happened to see some person, totally complained about the cottage and it appears she did not even stay there. Now I did, for the month prior to this person's comment. I just loved the Sago Palm cottage. For the price and the location, no one can beat it. One short block from Duval Street too. The cottage has everything provided, just as the larger cottages, which are also owned by the same person. I was able to peek in all the other cottages, and he has spent a small fortune in each of his cottages, doing complete updates, such as tile work was being done at the time I was there, re-doing all the outside decking. He was even adding additional living space to my cottage, to make it that much more comfortable. I must say, having a private deck, access and free use of multiple bicycles, my own BBQ, wifi, cable, etc. what a deal. I should say, the owner does have two private parking spots too. I parked there, myself. This compound is a hidden gem. The pool was awesome, and most the time, I had it to myself. And I need to say, what Mosquito's? I was in the same cottage that this other person wrote about too. I almost hate to tell everyone about it, as I am planning to become an annual returning vacationer. I already booked my month for next year. Look at all the pictures, this owner has done everything he can and still is, making this compound a great place to stay. Thanks to the owner and his property manager. You made my stay a wonderful one.

  Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. I have spent a fortune to make this cottage, as well as my others as nice They can be. This week, we tiled all of the countertops in every cottage. All the tubs and showers are being re-glazed. The outside decking, is completely being redone. Of course all this work is being done to not impact anyone's stay. For example, all the tile has/had been cut prior to installation, at another location and not in/on the compound. Other upgrades only take place, when there are openings in-between stays. All the Bicycles, which are provided for free have been completely re-painted and serviced, which is done on a regular basis. I have done constant improvements, and do everything possible not to disturb any vacationer's stay. I will be updating some pictures with newly completed projects. I am sure most can tell by my pictures, that this compound has a lot to offer and is as cute as it gets. Thanks!

  We loved our stay in the studio. Small, but has all the amenities you could ask for. Could get a little tight for a coulple staying longer than a week. However, would be great for a single staying longer. Cute & cheerful decor. Nice little deck w/ grill. Beautiful grounds & pool. Great location, close to everything but on a quite local street. Very clean. Security door to the compound is nice. Would stay again.

  Owner response: I appreciate the nice comments. I have addressed the tight quarters. The cottage has been widened and is just about complete. There will be new pictures to show this soon. This does only sleep 2 folks and the price is lower than any of the neighboring locations,which they don't offer kitchens, like my cottage. But this is cottage is in a prime location, being only 1 block from Duval Street. Thanks!
