Graduation family

Guest: Graduation family (Lexington, MA)

Up to six rotating members of my family stayed in this beautiful home for a week so we could attend two Berkeley graduations five days apart. We had two barbeques for nine and low-key breakfasts watching the birds (including hummingbirds) and the squirrels and even a deer! The owners were friendly and helpful but we had lots of privacy. The house was just perfect for our needs. It even had a printer for our boarding passes! I can't recommend it highly enough!

One of a Kind

Guest: gc (Los Angeles)

This is truly a one of a kind experience. We loved this house. The setting is spectacular - views of Bay Bridge and San Francisco. The art in the house was inspiring and unique. The large living room is breath taking. All the rooms are accommodating and pleasant. It has a rustic edge so if you're looking for a modern pristine situation, this is not it. If you like museum quality surroundings in a vintage setting with large oak trees, views and wild turkeys , this is for you. Our daughter loved the collection of 60's records that she could play on a real record player! Also, nearby hiking trails a big plus. Owners helpful and friendly...Highly recommended!

THE PERFECT ESCAPE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY

Guest: Dennis D. (Phoenix, AZ)
Date of Stay: 02/24/12 Review Submitted: 03/18/12

Not far above Memorial Stadium on the UC Berkeley campus sits this architectural masterpiece on several acres. The grounds themselves offer plenty of opportunities for quiet reflection...in the garden or along the short trail leading to a spectacular view of San Francisco Bay. But the home is also filled with art, music, books, and other trappings of sophisticated city living. Here you are above it all...and yet somehow right in the middle of it. The living room views of San Francisco and the Bay Bridge are breathtaking;the kitchen and dining room are cool and fully stocked; all around the property are trees, fountains, and wild turkeys. My family congregated here for our mother's funeral and memorial services. There were six of us who stayed overnight in the home, but the owners were fantastic about allowing us to invite extended family and friends to the home throughout the entire weekend. The house was a perfect escape...and nobody had to drive more than 20 minutes.

A very spacious and comfortable home close to campus

The home is part of a historic grouping of three homes and sits on a large piece of property on Panoramic Way in Berkeley. The property is very well kept yet offers a wilderness feel with squirrels, wild turkeys, deer, and a variety of birds. The home is VERY well furnished with plenty of sitting rooms, interesting art, pictures, books, and kitchen supplies. There are two levels: upstairs there are three bathrooms, three bedrooms, and a large living room with windows throughout that offer a very open feel. Downstairs is the kitchen, dining room, a breakfast nook, and access to the outside patio which is also furnished. One of the many highlights during our visit was a dinner by the light of the candelabra. It is a fantastic home with an atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy. other tidbits: A) The off street free parking was great. B) The trees are very nice, but some surgical trimming offers great views across the bay. C) The owners are extremely nice D) The rental went smoothly with no problems. ======VBRO FAQ======== Q: Was the listing description accurate regarding the location? Beautiful and spacious house

Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 08/22/10

Great place to hang out with friends and family. The incredibly spacious living room is on the top floor which means you look out into the tree tops as well as getting a view of the Bay. Feels like a posh tree house. The art on the walls is wonderful - food for the soul and mind. The kitchen, while a little basic in its equipment, is easy to work in and connects directly with the large dining room and cozy outdoor dining area. The only drawback is that it's a bit of a hike (up hill) to get there from the shopping areas of Berkeley and the drive around hairpin turns is a bit challenging. However, there is off-street parking which is a big plus in this area. Very relaxing and warm space and very friendly and helpful hosts who live right next door. Highly recommended. We loved our time there and were sorry to have to leave. Emily D., Brooklyn, NY

Absolutely wonderful house, property, location, and owners

Our family had stayed in the Berkeley Hills before, so we knew how wonderful the views and setting were; however, this house was by far the most spectacular! It is a fantastic home to rent for any purpose--ours was for our daughters graduation from Berkeley--and it made the occasion so very special. Tom and Nhu are most hospitable and there to meet your every need! We so enjoyed the views we didn't want to leave the property--but Berkeley beckons with all it has to offer. The house is a great location for visitors to the college and we loved having the trails so close by. Truly a wonderful opportunity that this house is available to rent--beautifully maintained and so very comfortable in every way.

My four siblings and I were so delighted with our stay in Nhu and Tom's historic and beautiful home in the verdant hills of Berkeley. Morning coffee on the back terrace. A view of the sunset over the Bay from the living room. Supper in the cozy dining room near the fireplace. The house is spacious, bright, very clean, with a full kitchen, and lovely gardens. Loved our walked to the Botanical Gardens. It was absolutely perfect for our reunion, and Nhu and Tom are wonderful hosts, friendly and easy- going. We wished we could have stayed a lot longer than our 3 nights. Next time!

The opportunity of getting a whole family together is priceless, and we were lucky to enjoy it even more because of the personal and dedicated treatment we received from the owners, from the very beginning doing the contract until following up with the stuff we left behind. The house is perfect for family gatherings, it's spacious and charming.

I can't rave enough about our stay at the Julia Morgan House. The house is absolutely charming and the view over the city was gorgeous. Nhu (the owner) went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable. She really became a good friend. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful home...you'll love it!

The is a wonderful home - like a tree house in the woods above the University, a beautiful view of the Bay with an easy walk to town. Very comfortable and social setup both in doors and outside. Gracious owner/hosts right next door if there are any questions.

We loved the house, it is all we talked about for the last few days. The setting in the trees and all of the great artwork were great, I spent the first day just walking from room to room enjoying the view out the windows or enjoying the artwork. The bed we slept in was in the middle large room and it was perfect, everything was very comfortable. It was also very helpful that the kitchen was labeled to find things. We have rented from VRBO many times, all over the world, and yours would rate up with the best of them. Panoramic Way was a bit of a challenge, but without it you would not have the great views.

We inaugurated this lovely vacation home here in the Berkeley hills. Great place! Fantastic views and a huge improvement over hotel stays when we visit our son in Berkeley. It is one of the best and most fun places I have ever rented!
