The cottage is located 4.5 miles N of Placencia Village, in N Seine Bight Village on the Placencia Peninsula. The cottage is 50 feet from the Caribbean Sea on a spacious, beautifully landscaped, fenced lot. It is fully furnished and includes internet and cable TV. The kitchen is also fully equipped. There is shared laundry room with a washer & dryer. Large verandas are screened and hammocks are provided. There is a palapa with a BBQ for outdoor cooking and entertaining. The cottage is small and best suited for 2 people but a twin bed can be provided for an additional person. There is a dock next door suitable for swimming. The cottage is cooled by ceiling & portable fans as well as prevailing sea breezes.
Placencia is located in the Southern part of Belize on a 21 mile long peninsula, with the Caribbean sea to the east and Placencia lagoon to the west. English & Spanish are spoken. It is a four hour drive from Belize City or a 45 minute flight from the international airport. Placencia is one of the premiere tourist destinations in Belize. Snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and jungle trecks are all available within easy reach of the village. May and June are popular months for Whale Shark watching outside of the barrier reef. There are many interesting nooks & crannies to explore, local arts & crafts, local culture and even local dining experience. Bring lots of sunscreen!

Year Purchased: 1999
Cordy is a native Belizean born here in Seine Bight Village, and John is a Canadian from British Columbia. They met while working together in the mid--1970s’ at the Maya Beach Resort, which was one of the first resorts and dive shops to be established on the Placencia Peninsula. They were married under the palm trees in Maya Beach in 1977 and a short time later, moved to Vancouver British Columbia.
Why the Owner Chose Placencia
After 31 years of work, raising two beautiful children, (Lenny & Michelle) they began to look forward to retirement and to get away from British Columbia winters. In 2000 after years of absence from Belize, and in the wake if Y2K, they purchased a prefabricated cabin from the Mennonites in Spanish Lookout, and in May of that year located it on their property near Seine Bight Village. The ‘Love Shack’ was used for periodic two week visits, additional decks were added and other improvements were made over the following years.
