Hidden in the private garden of an historic 1850s house on William Street, this writer's cottage is the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. Wrap-around French doors open to the private pool and deck on one side; to the orchid garden and outdoor dining patio on the other.
The cozy cottage has vaulted ceilings in the great room and two bedrooms, which are great for two people; good for four if you really love each other. It boasts local and international artwork, an outdoor shower and a secluded claws-foor tub for romantic soaks beneath the stars.
It has been featured in Florida International Magazine, on numerous Key West house and garden tours and is the setting for the author's most recent book, "Cats I've Known." Because felines live on this property, guests must be cat friendly, but rental rate includes cat caretaker, as well as pool man and gardener.

Barbara Bowers is an author and an award-winning journalist. Her travel and feature articles have been published in magazines and newspapers nationally; locally she writes a Sunday column about houses for the daily newspaper. She has lived in Key West since 1988 and only rents her cottage when she's traveling.

This is more than a vacation rental; this is my personal residence, which I rent periodically when I'm traveling on a writing assignment.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
I travel the world writing for magazines and newspapers and I have never found a city or location that I prefer more than Key West. The 2-by-4-mile island has more than 200 restaurants, with at least 100 within walking distance of my property. Cars are unnecessary because bikes get me to the nearby grocery store, beaches and more.
