Fun for the Whole Family!

The first thing we noticed was the enormous porch. There was plenty of room for our family (7 adults, 5 children). We spent most of our time on the porch, which had a grill, tables, rocking chairs, and sound system (bring your favorite CDs). There were bikes, but we didn't use them. A rustic, warm, wood-filled home greeted us when we entered the lodge. After children went to bed, our evenings were often spent at the kitchen table playing games that we brought. Tim & Cindy provide some games and they certainly have plenty of books on the bookshelves! If you have a favorite knife or need a crock pot or favorite pan, bring it with you. We did have a problem with the microwave on the first morning, but Tim & Cindy responded with a new microwave the same day. You can often see them around the property, as they own several rentals in the area. They are super friendly and very interested in making your stay easy and memorable. I almost forgot... the dishwasher didn't work and looked like a nuclear accident when we opened it. I guess that might knock the lodge down to 4.5 stars. However, we didn't mention it to Tim & Cindy, who might have done something about it. We brought disposable dishes and utensils, so it wasn't an issue for us. The funky layout of the lodge is fun for the kids. There are 5 BRs, 4 baths, 1 balcony, 1 screened porch, and one enormous front porch, all on different levels. Don't forget the hot tub and pool table right off the kitchen. The bedrooms are decorated nicely. Adult couples and grandma each had our own rooms and the kids took the Family Room. It didn't feel crowded at all, thanks to a rollaway in the closet. We weren't bumping into each other due to the roomy layout. Helen. The town is within walking distance if you're in good shape. Since we had children and wanted to do many things during our stay, we drove and paid for parking, which was reasonable. Of course, we went tubing! Tim & Cindy have 9 tubes (I think) that have back rests. Talk about keeping your neck from being sore after holding it up for hours... without a back rest. How nice! They will drop you and pick you up. Money saving and time saving. We also spent time at the communal park by the river. It has a fire pit, outdoor games, and even a miniature golf area for the kids, sort of. We lounged in the chairs, waded into the river, and spoke with people tubing down the river. Relaxing! If a rustic, slightly worn charm is what you're after, the lodge is the place for you.

The house is rustic but interesting and comfortable. Our week was spent in the river tubing (tubes provided by our lovely host), hiking the trails and enjoying a marvelous town. Our only complaint: the weather was extremely hot and the air conditioning minimal. We were told it was a rare warm spell. We enjoyed sitting by the river in the evening sharing a glass of wine with our host who were always ready with helpful information. It was a relaxing yet eventful vacation.
