My husband and I had spent 2 weeks on Hilton Head Island as part of our Canadian respite before travelling north to stay on the Eastern Shores (at The Pinnacle) for a week, prior to returning to our home in eastern Ontario. This winter has not been kind in Ontario and elsewhere. In Virginia, we experienced somewhat chillier weather than we had hoped, but that was okay. The Pinnacle is a lovely, spacious home and offered an appreciated change of venue to meet up with some friends from home. Despite the chill outside, we bundled up and played a couple of short rounds of golf (winter rules), enjoying the courses at Bay Creek and its spectacular seascapes. We enjoyed making several meals (included locally acquired seafood) at the house, and using the house as home base. We visited nearby communities. We visited the lovely, pristine, stretch of white sand beach belonging to the Bay Creek property with its gracefull grassy dunes, and would enjoy these for longer jaunts with warmer temps. The area is quiet at this time: My husband and I had visited nearby 3 years ago and this was expected. We had some stellar card games during this visit at the large dining table. The bedrooms were very comfortable with nice linens. Our 3 couples each had their own bathroom; always appreciated. The gals had an afternoon at Breezes Day Spa to celebrate a special birthday and just being together... an Ahhhhh-experience. Some treasures were purchased at some charming little shops on the main street. The Pinnacle is deceptive in its photo and is much grander than it appears.... allowing togetherness and solitude as desired. We would love to visit again, whether at a similar time of year and/or during a warmer time. The Pinnacle is a very welcoming, well maintained, comfortable/cozy home that is as nicely equipped as I have seen. The setting is pretty with lots of trees and the golf course nearby, and the beach not far away.. We enjoyed this gracious home for our winter get-away.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The Pinacle is a super nice townhouse in a gated golf community, 2 min south of Cape Charles. Everything is as described, the owners clearly put in a lot of work into equipping the place with top of the line appliances and gadgets. We were particularily impressed with the quality of the kitchen equipment and the bikes left in the garage for guests' use. Two of the bikes were beach cruisers, three other ones were high end 15 and 21 speed mountain bikes, two even had front shock absorbers. An electric air pump completed the package. We biked to the beach (3 min), to the pool (even closer) and to town (10 min). The private beach in the community is smaller than the town beach, but we think it's less crowded, cleaner and the sand is nicer. You should bring your own beach towels. The ones provided in the bedrooms are super nice and not suitable for the beach. We ended up buying beach towels because some of us forgot to bring those. The pool is nice as well, but there were a lot of kids splashing around (we visited over the Labor weekend). We loved sipping coffee in the morinig on the screened porch, watching golfers on the first tee. Very Zen. The owner, Brad, was very helpful with the local advice. I hosted breakfast for 10 people one morning, ordering food - on his advice - from the Cape Charles Coffeee House. It was excellent! The Coffee House is also a nice place to have breakfast or lunch there. Great quality food and very helpful staff. We also liked Aqua restaurant for dinner. Didn't eat out more, because we loved cooking in this well equipped kitchen. Food Lion supermarket is a short drive away and well stocked. Next time we are in Cape Charles we will stay at the Pinacle again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for the very detailed review and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. For those reading this review it should be noted that The Pinnacle is a single family detached home and not a townhome.

We loved our two-week stay at this fully-furnished, immaculate home in the Bay Creek Resort. For those looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, this home and Bay Creek are an excellent option. The Pinnacle is a beautiful home filled with interesting art, many games, 3 cable-connected TVs and high-speed WiFi. It has adult bikes, fishing rods and nets, barbecues, beach chairs and umbrellas, and water noodles for those headed outdoors. The Bay Creek Resort is beautiful as well, with friendly staff working across the property. We loved our days on the golf links and enjoyed many visits to the resort's private beaches where we were all but alone. Wildlife is abundant. It's easy to catch blue crabs and hermit crabs. We saw fish, pelicans, horseshoe crabs, osprey and bald eagles nearly every day. Virginia Beach is 40 minutes away while Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg are 90 minutes away for day trips. A Food Lion supermarket is 5 minutes away by car and Cape Charles has a couple of small gourmet food shops for great meals at home. Many restaurants are nearby for dinners out. We will be recommending the Pinnacle to our friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

What can I say? Been staying at VRBO's for a number of years, and this one was one of the best. Great resort (even for non-golfers), everything was as described (or better), and we had a great time. Ages in our group went from 4 to 81. Loved having the bikes and beach equipment there, the screened porch (and fan) were very relaxing, and it was a quick bike ride/walk/drive (pick one) to the beach or pool. Close enough to Virginia Beach for a drive down (we did this twice). Had a great time. There are also some great parks in the area with interesting items in them (found while geocaching). Kiptopeke State Park has some interesting ships off the shore (worth a look - google them...), and there was a great walking trail at the Nature Preserve. If you don't geocache, this is the trip/area to get started! Anyway the stay was great - with everything you would need. One of our best vacations ever! Thank you!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We went to the Pinnacle with four kids under 8 and a set of grands and there was plenty of room for everyone! We don't golf but I would imagine that if you do - this is the place to be. We instead made daily use of the pool (complete with kiddy pool) and the private community beach. The long sand bed and small waves of the shore were perfect for our little ones and the quiet pace was perfect for us adults. The house is very well equipped with videos for adults and board games and books. The furnishings are very nice without being uncomfortable. I loved the nice touches of the extra silverware, glasses and dish sets. We always had enough for each meal. And I have never rented a house that provided linens before - that was a great packing savings and a wonderful touch! All in all this was a wonderful house for us!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family of two adults and three teens had a wonderful time at The Pinnacle. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. The house was exceptionally clean and well cared for. It was comfortably furnished, spacious, and everything we needed was provided--from plenty of fresh towels to bikes for the whole family. The kids especially loved the loft with fooseball and slot machine, and the screened in porch which was perfect for lazy mornings reading. We biked a short distance each day to the community pool, and also explored the surrounding trails. On one evening ride we encountered a small herd of deer on the path! The house is just a short drive (under five minutes, including getting all the kids into the car) to the Cape Charles fishing pier, where we watched the sunset each evening and took moonlit strolls down the beach. The owners were very accomodating--when my son accidentally left his x-box behind the owner graciously shipped it back to us at no charge. We would recommend this house to anyone wishing to stay in Cape Charles.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Everything about the house was terrific - location, condition, all the "extras" provided by the owners. Our group consisted of 4 adults, a 4 yr old and an infant, and we all loved our stay at the Pinnacle. The pool, beach and clubhouse/restaurant were all within walking distance. The Hollies section of Bay Creek is great for those that like quiet, tree filled spots to come back and relax after being out in the heat on the golf course, beach or from the pool. Once we got the layout of the house (internally) and the resort, it was almost too easy to get lost in your day. The town of Cape Charles is also very nice, and the laid back attitude was a nice change of pace. Everyone we interacted with (Bay Creek staff, residents, guests) were extremely nice. I would recommend the Pinnacle to anyone that enjoys golf, relaxing at the beach or the pool, or folks who might like heading out to explore the Eastern Shore.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We traveled with our three adult childern and their spouses for a family reunion. We were pleasantly surprised by the accomodations, they exceeded the photos on the website. Each couple had a wonderful bedroom. The home is clean and well maintained. We spent time on the porch and we even recorded a video on the porch-so it is spacious. We hosted part of a progressive dinner with two other families with childern attending. More than enough room to accomodate all of us. Pool and beach-awesome sunsets. We would recommend this property. We plan on renting again next year for Palooza 2!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We live near Annapolis, MD, and thoroughly enjoy the relaxation of Bay Creek in Cape Charles.
Why the Owner Chose Cape Charles:
Cape Charles offers visitors a step back in time to a quieter life with many stores, restaurants and services to enjoy life on the Chesapeake Bay. The town is home to one of the largest concentrations of late-Victorian and turn-of-the-century buildings on the East Coast, and the entire downtown district is listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks. Cape Charles is a resort town, where golf carts ride on the street and kayakers pull up on the beach. Since Cape Charles is located on the western coast of the Eastern Shore, the sun sets on the water every night, displaying an incredible meltdown of oranges, purples, and blues. The nights are calm and peaceful, filled with the sounds of nature everywhere.
