Our home is ideal for up to four, mature, conscientious adults looking for a relaxing get away.
Enjoy turn-of-the century charm with modern amenities and a spectacular setting in our brand new arts and crafts home! Guests will enjoy two bedrooms (one queen, one full), one and one-half bathrooms, a formal dining room, reading nook, adjoining kitchen and living room with gas fireplace. (Note: guests do not have access to third bedroom, attic, or basement.) Our northwest and southeast balconies offer breathtaking views of the Collegiate Peaks and Midland Mountain – perfect for enjoying tea or coffee in the morning sun, or a glass of wine at sunset.
Enjoy wildlife viewing from the porch, with common sightings including deer, fox, chipmunks, mountain bluebirds, yellow warblers, and humming birds. Just a stone’s throw away are river-front hiking trails, mountain biking and fishing, plus a new city bouldering park is across the street.
Special features of our home include: Carrera marble countertops; floors of strand-woven bamboo, and natural linoleum (a historic and green building product); interior door hardware salvaged from Denver’s Standish Hotel (ca. 1904); dual-flush commodes; a cast iron soaking tub; and an antique iron bed that has been in our family for several generations.
Special requirements:
• Responsible party must be at least 30 years of age
• No guests under the age of 18
• Maximum of four registered guests
• No un-registered guests allowed in home
• No pets
• ABSOLUTELY no shoes to be worn inside home - a revered cultural practice that is also good for hygiene and cleanliness, and not scratching our bamboo floors :)
Note: periodic maintenance visits (e.g., watering of plants) will occur.

Why the Owner Chose Buena Vista
We chose to settle in Buena Vista, and specifically in the South Main neighborhood because this is a warm, small town, easily accessible from Denver and Colorado Springs, with fantastic year-round outdoor activities. Buena Vista is an undiscovered gem surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks and beautiful wilderness areas. South Main is a picturesque, new urban neighborhood where we have regular impromptu gatherings with neighbors, we are steps away from climbing, fishing, hiking, and biking - and a short walk from great new businesses, like an art gallery and microbrewery. It's like being in a Norman Rockwell painting.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home is perfectly situated literally steps away from the Arkansas River and a short walk from historic downtown Buena Vista. Our neighborhood is adjacent to world-class rafting, a whitewater kayaking park, miles of beautiful river-front trails, and our house is across the street from a new, scenic bouldering park. Just a short drive away are hundreds of rock climbing routes and myriad hiking trails that lead to gorgeous alpine lakes and 14,000 foot summits in the Collegiate Peaks.

Our home is full of meaningful elements inspired by turn-of-the century residences we know and love in Colorado, California, Ohio, and the Northeast - but built with modern, green amenities and materials. We worked on the design for three years with friend and architect Kenny Kraft of North Carolina. While this is our primary residence, when we are not home we are happy to offer it to kindred spirits who share an appreciation for fine homes and splendid settings.
