Fell asleep to the sound of barking geckos, woke to the sound of birds. Took a long walk to get some fresh produce-made some fresh juice-took a swim in the ocean. Great last morning on the North Shore. Sorry to be leaving paradise, but I knoiw I'll Be back. Thank you for this beautiful house with banana trees and a path to the beach! Love it.

Wonderful home. Great layout for communal areas where you can be relaxing in the living room, kitchen or around the dining table and still feel like you're all in the same room. Comfy couches, beautiful plumeria tree to gaze at out to huge window in the living room, great yard, kitchen and BBQ to cook great meals. The Oahu hosts were fantastic, helpful and so sweet. Beautiful pathway to beach and a close drive to great snorkeling up at Sharks Cove. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great relaxing get away with family or group of friends. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat.

What an amazing place! We came for the wedding of Ryan & Ellen in the Hawaii Laie Temple. What a beautiful service. The walk to the beach from this beautiful home was ideal. What fun to stay on the beach. Say "Hi" to Primrose for us. Make friends with her & she will stop barking!

Date of Stay: 04/25/12 Review Submitted: 05/06/12

We stayed here for my son's wedding. It was a clean and wonderful home. We had 11 people sleep comfortably. It has 2 full beds, 2 twin beds, 4 futons, a crib and then a portable mattress/mat. Full kitchen, dining room area, fenced yard, apple-banana trees, quiet and peaceful. It is far enough off the highway that you never hear the traffic--you can actually hear the ocean at night. We would stay here again! Bring your own shampoo and bath soup. Everything else was provided.

Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful review! There is a team of folks who work very hard to make our guests' stay a great experience. We hope you return soon!

Excellent North Shore Escape

Guest: Joe P.
Date of Stay: 03/20/12 Review Submitted: 03/31/12

This is an excellent option for escaping the tourists on the leeward side and enjoying Oahu's North Shore. The property is as described, a well appointed A-Frame tucked in a secluded area with one house on either side and a nice piece of jungle immediately out the back door. Louvered windows throughout provide excellent ventilation and let in the sounds of the surrounding birds which will wake you in the morning. The beach is a short walk from the back yard and while the waves are challenging for small children and the inexperienced it is perfect for the body surfing and boogie board enthusiast. The Polynesian Cultural Centre is less than five minutes away and a fifteen minute drive takes you to Turtle Bay for dinner. House is clean, well maintained, the staff we on hand for our arrival with and good information. This would be a house our family of four would be happy to stay in again.

House was wonderful! Great location and amenities. We loved the area and would stay there again. It was nice to have Jane and Mark meet us at the house and show us everything and share things to do and places to eat. With my husband and I, two teenage boys and one grown up boy the place worked, everyone had there own bed and space. The only thing missing was a christmas tree for christmas morning. Would recommend this house and area to everyone. Would give it five stars. Malaho from the McGregor's Saskatchewan Canada

Some of our favorite places on the island were Sharks Cove, Wimea Beach, Sandy Beach, the Blow Hole Lookout, scuba diving with Oahu Diving, they were very nice and reasonably priced. The Hilton Village in Wikiki was fun. They have penquins aand flamingos, parrots, turtles, etc. Spend as much time on the beaches as possible! London, Robert and Brent Saunders

Aloha! This house was great for our vacation. It was extremely convenient when visiting the Polynision Center, which is a must! The sunset at the beach is something you will never forget. Deep sea fishing @ Ko'Olina Beach is something you must do if you're the fishing type (hopefully you all will be lucky enough to catch something) And if you looking for a luau do the Ko'lina Luau. We had a fabulous vacation and absolutely loved this house. There were nine of us who stayed here and there was PLENTY of room. It was spacious and clean and was perfect of all activites, especially because it was so close tp the beach. We had a great stay in Oahu, enjoying the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waikiki, surfing, Waimea Valley and swimming with dolphins at Colina. It was a spectacular trip and are sad to see it end. Hawaii has been amazing and we can't wait to come back! Thank you! The Nielson's, Fairfield, California

This house was great! Although it was only two couples that stayed, as soon as we walked in we knew it was somewhere we could comfortably bring our kids, also what a treasure on the North Shore! We enjoyed "Ted's Bakery" several times, "Kahuku Grill", "Lei-lei's", and "Kono's in Haliwa town. What could be better that being so close to the Polynesian Cultural Center?! That was an awesome experience-one not to miss! The home was very clean when we arrived. Mark was here to greet us and show us around. He was very friendly and said to call for anything. It's so nice to have so many ammenities! Thank you! Warren and Bigger staff families, Lacy, Washington

Thank you for a home away from home. We were able to gather all of our family here comfortably. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen where we enjoyed some delicious home cooked meals together. We also enjoyed sitting around the large table for games & visiting. The laundtry facilities, BBq, & close proximetry to the beaach made our stay pleasant & convenient. We were able to enjoy the beach "Pounders", try some fishing and watch the turtles from close range. We enjoyed early morning walks & runs & even had a whale sitting from "the point". Thanks to Jane & Mark for their hospitality. Mark greeted us even though we arrived late and showed us around. They were there to help us with any questions or concerns. The only problem we encountered was a toaster that only got warm. Jane & Mark had it replaced before we knew it. Great house in a great location. Thank you so much. Our trip to Hawaii was fabulous! We were happy to use your clean and spacious home. It had everything needed here. It was great to go for walks on Pounders Beach and we found the Hukila Beach just north of here was perfect for our family. Laie is such fun, yet somewhat lazy spot. It was great to get away from the crowds of Honolulu. Jane and Mark were great, they were never further than a phone call away and always willing to help with suggestions on where to go and what top do. We loved going to Haleiwa and watching the turtles. Matsumoto's is a must on a warm day. The Polynesian Cultural Center was a favorite too-and so very close. Hanauma Bay, whale watching, Pearl Harbor, and ssearching for Souveniers at the swap meet will all be wonderful memories. If you're looking for a peaceful, lush location we suggest you visit senator frog's plantation on Kaneohe. Mahalo for everything!

We loved this comfortable and quaint little beach house (actually not so little :)) all 10 of us, 2 families enjoyed the stay! Our favorites were the North Shore, especially Waimae Bay! Sharks cove had abundant fish and other sea life. Haleiwa was fun finding turtles. We did Dole Plantation, P.C.C. as highlights! Hanauma Bay, Waima Valley (falls) was beautiful. Share ice was a delicious treat several times. We never had to leave the island! Found it all here in Oahu! Thank you Jane and Mark for your hospitality, the shop vac and helping us to make our stay here complete! Mahalo! We'll see you again Hawaii!

Very disappointed in the house

Guest: Rick (Oshkosh, Wisconsin)
Date of Stay: 02/03/11 Review Submitted: 03/15/11

I would not recommend this rental to anyone. The house looked clean upon arrival, but by the first morning there were dead cockroaches on the floor. We even saved one in a bowl so the managers could see how big they are. Also, the place had more than just a few geckos running around. They were all over the place. Plus there were ants. We were constantly washing the kitchen and bathroom counter tops and tables because of fresh poop from some kind of critter. The information sheet listed a "security system" in the house, but it did NOT work! It only had a security system box hanging on a wall in the house and the managers of the place said they knew it did not work. This did not make any of the four of us feel safe staying there, especially since there are bums living in the rock ledges less than 100 feet behind the house. You walk within 20 feet of them on the trail to the beach. I see the owner has now removed the "security system" from the amenities sheet. There were broken, cracked and missing jalousie windows, which by the way, did not lock. No curtains on several windows. Stains on comforters on the beds. It's also a real stretch to say you have views of the ocean! We rented the place for nine (9) nights, but after five days we just couldn't tolerate it any longer and left the rental early. The owner does not respond to our letter of complaint and has not refunded any money for all of the inequities of the house. Save yourself the heart ache...don't rent this place.

Owner response:We work very hard to welcome our guests with a clean house and try to accommodate their needs. This group came from an extended stay on another island and were grumpy and miserable upon their arrival. Unfortunately during the time of their stay, Hawaii had heavy rains. It rained every day and we were told they were leaving because they were tired of and disappointed with the rain. The security system DOES work, if someone wants to use it they have to ask for a security code to be programmed for them. Geckos are everywhere in Hawaii, pest control companies will not harm them. We spray constantly for the bugs, as you mentioned you found dead bugs (Hawaii is in the tropics) but during heavy rain they are more persistent in coming into the house. That is why we leave bug spray in the kitchen and in the garage. Jalousie windows are not made to lock and it is not necessary in our area. We would be happy to replace any jalousie panes that are brought to our attention. We are consistently making improvements to our house and we are now in the process of replacing all the first floor flooring. Our property backs to conservation land, the public is not allowed in this dense vegetation. We do not have curtains on these windows because the view is outstanding and there is no need for privacy. As our pictures show we do have curtains where they are needed. We have never had a problem with the safety of people or belongings. All beaches throughout Hawaii are open to the public. If anyone causes any problem you notify the authorities to take care of it. I have never heard of any problems in our area or around our home

Thank you for the use of your home. Lovely home witch was so comfortable, roomy & well appointed. It was perfect for our family of 7 for this beautiful week in Oahu. We appreciated the towels, boogie board & lawn chairs. Loved Pounders Beach & took some guest hikes-Hanula loop (close by & 2 hours not too difficult), Kaunalo & Pu'u Mahuka Hera as well both with great suggestion. Watching the surfers at pipeline competition was awesome. Property managers Jane & Mark were very helpful & Pleasant. Other favorite things we did- a day at Lanikai Beach ( we think its the most beautiful beach on the planet) Best cruise in the yellow Catameran on waikiki to see whales and Dolphins. Dinner at Kona brewing co in Hawaii Kai (good!) snorkeling at Hanama bay ( a must do!) We will take wonderful memories home with us. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Great House. Not so great experience

Guest: KP (Sydney, Australia)
Date of Stay: 08/08/10 Review Submitted: 09/13/10

The staff were amazing in organising the accommodation. They were accommodating in the time difference and were willing to assist when i needed extra stay. What lacked was the hawaiian help. After numerous attempts to contact the care taker, i had to rely on contacting the mainland staff for help. I didn't have an address until 2 days before my flight when i thought maybe i had been scammed. Upon arrival, there was a mountain of garbage from the previous stay and dirty biapers on the lawn. The neighbours apparently take the garbage out every wednesday. They never did and the garbage piled high yet again. This is not the fault of the owners nor does it reflect on the amazing house. But the caretaker needs to do his job or be replaced. The home itself is large, accommodates easily and comfortably 10 people, the kitchen is amazing, and the feel of the place is lovely. There are no views of the beach though but it is a short walk away. Overall i have put fair due to the caretaker being slack in his responsibilities and the diaper situation alone was awful. Also, i had moved addresses since leaving a deposit and had informed them of such and they charged me $40 US dollars to cancel the check they sent me to return my deposit when they sent it to the wrong address. That also made this a fair experience.

Owner response:Thank you for your comments. We have made improvements so that our Hawaii property managers contract our guests 7 days before their stay to confirm all travel information. As you stated in your comments we do have backup numbers so you can always find someone to help and we will make that more clear to guests in order to avoid alarming anyone unnecessarily. Upon arrival our guests are greeted by our property managers, given keys and have a walk through and orientation of the house and grounds. At that time we catch any problems or concerns. At your check in nothing was amiss. Your email of the dirty diaper came 7 days into your stay and we did come out and clean it immediately. Our neighbors have a small dog that does carry its treasures into our yard occasionally. The picture in our ad is the view of the ocean from our lanai. We can also see the ocean from the kitchen, main living room and the upstairs loft of the house. We try to send out the refund of the security deposit within a week of the guests’ departure. You notified us of your new address after the refund check was mailed, you asked us to stop payment on the check and mail out a new check to the new address. Unfortunately our bank has a $40.00 stop payment fee.

We enjoyed our stay and the house was layed out great for all 9 of us. There were a couple of things that we wished were different. 1.) The bed in the living room. It is a futon not a sofa bed, which is what we thought. 2) not having AC in July was a little uncomfortable. Otherwise a great place to stay. The owners and managers were very easy to work with.

Place we recommend for breakfast is the Hukilou Cafe..its the best and only a couple of minutes away. And get the POG drink from the market!!! Cant wait to come back!!! Much Aloha

We stayed in April (rainy season in Laie, but still dry on the other side of the island). The house was clean and private feeling. Lots of room to spread out. We took seven people and there was plenty of room. We felt fairly dealt with as far as customer service went. Eat at Papa Ole's; Snorkel at Turtle Bay resort (they are required to let a set number of public parking spaces be filled each day and it was free.) Get the local grocery card the first day you get there. We stopped and shopped at Costco on the way from the airport too. There is no air conditioning and the beach view is limited but nice. We had a really nice time at the house.

This house and location is so much more than the pictures and decription can tell you. Perfect area near Pounders Beach...literally a 1 minute walk from the house to the shore! House is beautifully maintained. Definitely will stay there again and would certainly recommend to friends. Besides Pounders Beach (which is a great location for body surfing and boogie boarding), the house is located near the Polynesian Cultural Center and public lands that are great for hikes to beautiful waterfalls. Close to North Shore attractions for great beaches and surfing venues...snorkling close at Pounders Beach or other beaches...Honolulu within 30 minutes for shopping and big city attractions. This is the place to stay in Oahu for an incredibly memorable family vacation!

Owner response:Thank You for taking the time to write a review. We want the folks who stay at our house to love it as much as we do and have a wonderful holiday! We look forward to your return. Aloha
