The house was perfect. The main village is right around the corner with plenty of outdoor dining. We ate at the Key Lime Bistro on several mornings. All the business owners in the village are friendly and very helpful. Found wonderful shells and enjoyed watching the sunset each night. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My family of five had a great time at Life's a Beach. Private beach is a hop and a skip away. Last day watched family of dolphins swimming around literally right in front of us all day. Very relaxing vacation house has everything you need. One day the barbecue gave us some trouble and called for help someone was fixing problem within 15 minutes! Great for kids and adults everybody would enjoy this cottage. Besides having everything you need cottage is in great condition. Never met owner but super nice on the phone. Go for it!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cottage was exactly what we needed and it was 3 walking minutes to the beach. We are a family of five and it worked perfectly for us. The property was in perfect condition and had all we needed. The owners were also were easily to reach and they even put a crib in one of the rooms for my baby girl. Another thing that was really nice for us was that the cottage was equipped with everything you need for the beach including towels, chairs, umbrella, and toys for the kids to play. The nearby area was also nice and there were a couple of restaurants you could eat really well. I definitely would recommend this house to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing time in the beach.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you and we are looking forward to having you back. Our cottage welcomes guests of all ages

Thank you for the use of your wonderful "Life's a Beach" cottage on Captiva. We had a great time and a perfect week with our daughter, her husband and their four year old. We enjoyed a mix of beach fun (body surfing, running, fishing), creative fun (writing, drawing, woodburning), and of course eating in and outside the cottage. Everything was excellent, and exactly as we had hoped. My wife called the cottage a "dream house" and loved the way you have cared for it and decorated it. If we can, we would like to return to the cottage sometime.Recommended for: Families with young children
Owner response: Thank you Kevin and I hope you will be back, we value our many returning guests and will give them first priority

Great house, very at home, and can beat the location. This place is just a short walk from all of Captiva's landmarks, beach and fun things to do in the area. The hot tub was also a huge plus as well as the outdoor shower! I'd love to come back soon and would absolutely recommend this great cottage to anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were visiting Captiva with our 2 adult daughters, our mother and our 3-year old grandson. The cottage was a perfect match for us. It was neat and clean, cozy and very nicely decorated. We felt at home right away. We walked everywhere we went and everything was within walking distance - beach, shops, restaurants, kayak rentals, etc. The outdoor decks were perfect for relaxing and visiting. We would definitely stay at Life's a Beach again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you Pam,we would love to have you back.

Highly recommend Life's a Beach. We have rebooked for another 3 week stay this Christmas. The owner is an artist and it is reflected in the cheery, friendly decor. The location is quite fabulous. Captiva is a charming island to spend time and unwind on. Don't need a car for much, there's even a Starbucks a lovely 10 minute walk away. We were really lucky and had stunning weather for almost our entire stay, so we started the day with tea on the beach and ended our day with cocktails on the beach watching the sunset. Once you've spent a holiday on a shelling beach all the other beaches seem quite barren! Hours of entertainment only a short walk away down a private sandy laneway. The bungalow was ideal for all the aging bones in our party (both human and canine) and the hot tub was a treat for them too (just human). We ate in most of the time and found the deck, bbq and kitchen to be pleasant places to be and cook in, with a well provided store just a few minutes walk away if you forgot anything. Also a walk away, the little Chapel by the Sea was a real treat for Christmas eve service. What I loved most was walking the dog before bed and hearing nothing but the wind in the tree tops and the surf on the sand. This year will be even more exciting for us as we know now what a wonderful place it is we're going to.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Diane for your review. we are looking forward to accommodating you and your family again for christmas and new years 2012/2013.

Had a great week at Life's a Beach! Cottage was cute and cozy with accurate web description. Had everything that we needed for a one week stay including beach towels, well working appliances, bbq, great front deck with Adirondack chairs and a three minute walk to a superb beach. Back deck was a little slick and shady but the trees and foliage was trimmed at the end of the week and this allowed the deck to dry out and and the backyard to see some sun. We didn't use the hot tub. Did lots of biking (had no problem biking to Sanibel where there are miles of bike trails), enjoyed shelling, sunning and relaxing. We had a car, but did not need one.The friendly town of Captiva was literally at the end of the lane. Christine was great for a quick response to all our questions!:) Would definitely like to return!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We could not have enjoyed Life's a Beach more. It's clean, comfortable, well provisioned, and wonderfully walkable to nearby restaurants, shops, water-related activities, and, of course, Captiva's beautiful beach and sunsets. You'll need the car only for going to Sanibel for an occasional meal, a movie on a rainy day, or renting a kayak at the Ding Darling reserve. Life's a Beach is the perfect, laid back island getaway.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Life's a Beach is a fantastically casual and convenient little cottage perfectly located between the beach, stores, American Realty (the property manager) and several great local restaurants. No need for a car! The sunsets from the beach are breathtaking, and seeing the dolphins swim by from the beach is a sight not soon to be forgotten. And the shelling, WOW! The backyard is almost completely private due to the beautiful mature foliage, and a perfect shady retreat after a day in the sunshine and heat of Captiva. We already booked our stay for next year-and cannot wait to return to Life'a Beach.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My 19 year old daughter stated our only problem with "Life's a Beach" perfectly: "You expect us to leave this place?" It was a perfecly relaxing week for our active family of 6 (kids ages12-19). Even on spring break the beach 200 yds down the lane was not crowded. We walked 300 yds to the east to watch the sunrise over Pine Island Sound, and 200 yds to the west to watch beautiful sunsets over the gulf. We spent 2-3 hours twice a day at the beach shelling, kayaking, body surfing, tossing the frisbee and football, playing in the sand or just reading. It was great being so close so our kids could walk back to the house or down to the beach by themselves. The house it self was great. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, island decor, modern kitchen, 2 TVs with VCR/DVD player for lazy afternoon and NCAA basketball tourney). Front and back deck secluded with lush topical plants. We especially appreciated the big hot tub, outdoor shower, beach chairs and toys, and washer/ dryer (less dirty clothes on return home). Captiva itself is very bike and pedesrtian friendly. We brought bikes and rented a scooter. Captiva has light traffic and Sanibel 3 miles away has 20 miles of dedicated bike paths. We went canoeing at Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, rode bikes 10 miles to the most extensive shell museum in the world, ate lunches out and saved money by cooking breakfast and supper in. Within walking distance are famous restaurants (Bubble Room, Mucky Duck). Souvneirs, beach gear, 2 groceries (we stocked up before we hit the island) and Starbucks within walking distance. Also can recommend YOLO sports 1 block away where we parasailed, rented scooter and all sorts of water toys, bikes, etc are available. We'll be back. It was definitely worth the 1460 mile 24 hour drive from Kansas.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have stayed at "Life's a Beach" several times in the past few years and love the place. When we go back it feels just like our home. It is beautifully decorated, perfectly located and has everything you need to be comfortable. Every time we stayed there it was for a month and we have always had a great time. Most of the time we were able to get around by just walking or biking. The beach is just down at the end of a wonderful beach road and the village of Captiva is right there. Great restaurants with music at lunch and dinner, a general store, post office, galleries and shops. The house has three bedrooms so we have been able to have our children and grandchildren with us for parts of our stays. The hot tub is a favorite of all and the outdoor decks are where we spent most of our time when not at the beach. I highly recommend "Life's a Beach".Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.
