Romantic, rustic hideaway in a true "oasis in the desert". This casita is part of a property on the national historic register. Los Terrones Adobe Casitas is located on historic Guadalupe Trail in the Village of Los Ranchos. Authentic adobe construction with exposed vigas (beams) and brick floors throughout, huge picture windows on the east side which look onto acres of green lawn and mature landscaping where roadrunners and other birds love to linger. Perfect launch site for hot air balloons.
The larger bedroom has a queen-size memory foam bed, desk, nightstand. The second "Blue Room " bedroom has a twin bed, nightstand, and wardrobe. There is a rollaway bed for an extra guest, and a crib that can be set up for infants. The small kitchen is comfortable and completely equipped. The bathroom has a shower and authentic Talavera hand-painted sink. Authentic southwest decor and old world charm prevail throughout. Please be aware that our casita was built in the 1870s, and as a result, the doorframes are lower than those in modern constructions. On the west side of the property is a private, fenced yard with table, chairs, and a gas grill surrounded by trees and bordering Guadalupe Trail.
This casita is located on 6.5 acres of green meadows canopied by huge 100 year old cottonwood trees in a semi-rural environment called Los Terrones. Peaceful and quiet yet conveniently close to the freeway, this property provides easy access to all parts of Albuquerque and surrounding areas. Perfectly situated for balloonists, the Balloon Fiesta Park is only 5 minutes to the northeast. We are only 15 minutes from the airport, 1 mile to the Railrunner train stop, and 45 minutes by car to Santa Fe. Old Town Albuquerque and the Aquarium/ Bio park are just a short drive south down Rio Grande Blvd. Bike paths, a health food store and the “antique mile” along 4th Street are within walking distance, and it's a short drive to Casa Rondena Winery and large shopping malls across the Rio Grande.
Please call Jan, Tony, or Tim for more information and extra availability.

Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque
This unique property belonged to my grandparents and I always enjoyed visiting it in my youth. It is a piece of paradise, a semi-rural setting hidden within a metropolitan area which makes it close to nature but also close to all the conveniences of the city.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love the easy access to all parts of Albuquerque and New Mexico while enjoying the tranquil, green, natural environment and historic ambiance. The trip to Santa Fe, which we enjoy visiting often, is very short, whether by car or the Railrunner train.
The Los ranchos station on the Railrunner line, which goes to Santa Fe northbound and to Belen southbound.
This trail runs alongside the Rio Grande Bosque for several miles. The northern end is near Alameda Blvd. and it stretches south past Rio Bravo Blvd.
Every weekend, fresh local produce, handcrafted items, live music, etc.
Owner's Map of Albuquerque
As an Air Force brat I grew up all over the world, but my heart always belonged in New Mexico where my grandparents lived. My wife is a native of New Mexico and we both enjoy traveling.

We stayed here during the Balloon Fiesta. The balloons came right over the place! We loved the house. It was very clean. Small but more than adequate. It has a small but full kitchen. Morgan the property manager was vey nice, very helpful. She keeps the house stocked with coffee, tea, toiletries, sheets and towels. The internet worked very well. I would definately recommend this property.

I spent the month of November 2010 living in this wonderful casita, and I loved it! The casita is comfortable, cozy, and colorful. It was so peaceful and private. The kitchen is very well stocked. The back yard is adjacent to a neighborhood street, but it was very quiet. The setting is lovely, with large cottonwood trees and a view of the Sandia Mountains. There are great places for long walks nearby, either in the neighborhood, or along the acequias (irrigation canals). The location is close to restaurants and shopping, and convenient to the rest of the City, but it feels like an oasis away from the noise and traffic. I was on a work assignment in our downtown office, and the commute to downtown was very easy. The casita is very well maintained, and Morgan (on-site manager) was very responsive and helpful. I really enjoyed my time in this charming casita, and would go back in a heartbeat!

What a wonderful place to stay! A charming casita, with lovely touches and furnishings, clean and beautifully maintained. Very nice property manager too. Close to Albuquerque and just minutes away from the train stop to Santa Fe. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with the accommodation! Highly recommended.

This is the nicest VBRO property we have stayed in. The casita is well maintained and very nicely furnished with quality Southwest furniture, dishes and decorations. Initally the property seemed a bit remote but it is really quite close to everything. Morgan was very helpful with directions, suggested activites and even a historical proscective. A perfect place for us to end our vacation. Thanks so much.

Okay place--well done up and very clean inside, but rather pokey outside and had maintenance issues

This place is an immaculately restored 130-year-old adobe, with new appliances and good plumbing, and is also nicely decorated. It's nice and quiet, and the owners are pleasant and attentive when you need them. Good marks there. Three downers: 1. The swamp cooler started making a noise like ripping sheet metal on the third, fourth, and fifth nights there. Each time, the owners were right there in the morning, but the repairs didn't last and it didn't help the sleeping much, whether the cooler was on or off. 2. There's really nowhere to sit outside. There's a very small enclosed yard, but it's all gone to weeds and the small metal table and chairs are uncomfortable. 3. Compared with other VRBOs in the ABQ/Corrales/Los Ranchos area, it's on the pricey side for what you get.

We just spent 5 nights in this comfortable, charming casita and loved every minute of our stay. I was amazed at how quiet and private it was, yet close to everything in Albuquerque. It even worked well for our 2 year old daughter who loved playing in the enclosed backyard. The grill was a plus! We will definitely return next summer for another visit.

History and charm and New Mexico warmth literally ooze out of this casita's adobe walls! We woke up early to catch the famous hot air balloons while still lounging in bed with coffee, had fun in Old Town and at the Tamaya Resort and an incredible day and evening in Santa Fe. No matter where we went, the casita was always a welcome home to return to and provided everything we needed for a unique and relaxing stay. Thanks Jan, Tony and Morgan!

I took my two teenagers with me to stay while I attended a conference. Tony and Jan were both very welcoming. The children were safe, happy and comfortable. The Sandia Tramway, Old Town and Petroglyph National Monument were both easily accessible from the property. There are also several beautiful wineries within a couple of miles. The price was very reasonable. We will visit again when in town.
