This property is situated directly on a large, secluded lake just east of Gaineville, Florida. The lake is known for its productive fishing and the town of Hawthorne, Florida describes itself as the "large mouth bass capital" of Florida. The property is "old," unspoiled Florida characterized by lakes and trees covered with Spanish moss. It is 18 minutes away from author Majorie Kinnian Rawling's home in Cross Creek, Florida.
There is a million dollar view of the cypress swamp across the lake from the large sunken living room and front deck. A wonderful hot tub sits on the deck just outside the door to the master bedroom. The deck is huge and is perfect for hosting a pre or post game Florida Gator football party.
The focal point of this beautiful 2400 sq. ft. getaway lodge is a spectacular sunken living room with a massive stone fireplace and floor to cathedral ceiling windows overlooking Redwater Lake. There is a twin bedroom overlooking the water and a large third bedroom/den. The master bedroom has a large bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. The large kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and microwave and an adjacent utility room with washer & dryer is just off the kitchen. The stone and frame construction make for a true lakefront country getaway lodge. The property is 20-25 minutes from the University of Florida and the #1 fighting Florida Gator football stadium.

Why the Owner Chose Gainesville
We have lived in Florida for many years, but have always loved the quiet beauty of the lakes around Gainesville. Not far from Majorie Kinnan Rawlings home on Cross Creek, we found a spectacular home on pristine Redwater Lake in Hawthorne, Fl. This unspoiled lake is just 20 minutes from the University of Florida. We love Gator football and we love the quiet life on our lake.
The Unique Benefits at this House, Lakefront
Our 2400 sq. ft lakefront home is on private Redwater Lake which means it is owned by the properties surrounding the lake. We have 250' of lakefront with an unspoiled view of a cypress swamp across the water. The lake is 650 acres and is known for it's bountiful large mouth bass, catfish and bream fishing. All this quiet beauty is only 25 minutes from Gator football in Gainesville and a short drive to Ocala and Palatka.
From the intersection of SR 20 and US 301 in Hawthorne, drive due east 3.3 miles to Gordon Chapel Rd. Turn right on Gordon Chapel Rd. going due south for 2.6 miles to Herman Rd. Take a left onto Herma

We are a retired couple who love the Florida lifestyle. We have a house in Ponte Vedra, FL a short walk from the ocean, but we enjoy getting away to the "quiet" Florida near the unspoiled and uncluttered towns in the north central lake district of the state. We have owned a number of businesses here, and, while we do a fair amount of traveling, we always look forward to getting back to the seclusion of Redwater Lake.
