Wonderful home for a big family! Beautiful beach almost all to ourselves. This was the perfect place for our family vacation. Plenty of towels for everyone and very well stocked with dishes, etc. A little chilly for swimming but played beach volleyball and enjoyed the sun. Also got to see dolphins almost every day! One of the most relaxing vacations I've had! Beautiful home with great owners to work with.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I have stayed here before with my husband's family, and I loved it as much this time as last time. We went with my family this time and there was plenty of room. The beach had eroded a little since the last time, but they had people working on it. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our 3 generation family of 16 adults and 3 children stayed here in July 2012, and had a great time. The house is literally right on a quiet beach, with 2 breezy decks, and everything we needed to make meals and spend time getting to know each other. The kitchen is a little chaotic, but workable, with plenty of dishes, etc. There was parking for our 7 cars and even a small RV. The house itself is overdue for standard maintenance both inside and out…if you have young children, be especially mindful as there were missing spindles on both deck railings. The front hand railing was not secure and we narrowly avoided an accident when it fell to the driveway. On the day we arrived, we noticed several pieces of damaged furniture which we did not report immediately to the owners. Our deposit was not returned, since we had no proof that the damage existed upon our arrival. If you book the Obsession, or any other property of this nature, be sure to look over the facility carefully and document anything in question on the day you arrive.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: Rarely do we get destructive renters. We will never rent to these people again. They did alot of damage to our property. The deposit did not begin to cover the damages.

This is a great property! We took a group of high school graduates to stay for a week and they absolutely loved it. The girls took over the upstairs and the boys took 2 of the downstairs rooms and my wife and I had the master bedroom - it was perfect. It does take about 20 minutes to get back to Gulf Shores, but it was nice being out and away from all the people. Very relaxing. I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here in March of 2011 and had a great time. The best thing about this place is its location. It can accommodate many and we weren't stressed out that the kids would ruin something. It is family friendly!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was my first experience with VRBO. We have been coming to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach for over ten years but had always used local reality companies. Our experience was fantastic. Reality companies have charged me almost twice as much for properties not near as good as the Obsession. This rental is a great value. We were vacationing with my parents, my in-laws, and the families of my brother and sister. We had plenty of room for everyone. The layout is excellent with ample bathrooms and a nice dining area just off the kitchen. And the House is so close to the ocean! No crowded beaches like those staying in condo's. The lot next to the obsession is actually vacant. There are oil rigs in sight but they actually were kind of neat to see out on the waters at night. The sunrise from the magnificient decks are remarkable. The Obsession is not a new home, but a fantastic value and well maintained. I hope to return with my family on our next visit in a couple of years. We had a wonderful time. We will definately be back if the owners will have us. They seem to be wonderful people! We truly enjoyed you opening up you vacation home to us earlier in July, 2010 for our vacation. You home is so beautiful, well-furnished and has a gorgeous view of the Gulf. We arrived there with great expectations but we were unsure of the condition of the beach given the news media reports of oil coming to shore. The beaches are beautiful white sands for miles in both directions. There were no oil odors anywhere to be found. People were scattered on the beach sun bathing, swimming and surfing. All of the others we met on the beach were asking the same thing, “Where’s all the oil?” Your house felt more like a home. There was more than enough room for the four of us to have privacy but yet come together in your family room as a group. The air conditioners kept us comfortable and the kitchen was well furnished. Perhaps the most enjoyment was sitting on your decks and watching the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. Again, thank you so much for the use of your home. We look forward to coming back next year. I am so excited to have found this house again. I looked several months ago and the previous leasing agency would not tell me who had the house now. Anyway!!! My husband and friends vacationed at the Obsession from 1996 through 2002, with the exception of 1997 due to hurricane damage, and would not consider anyplace else. It is not the fanciest of houses but it is the most user friendly property around. Not a bad view in the house and the deck and porch make it ideal for those who come to the house and do not leave until they checkout to go back home. Wonderful property and can't wait to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Becky and I had our first date on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico 35 years ago. We have always returned to the Florida Panhandle for vacations. With my family in Mississippi, we finally decided to buy a beach house between Atlanta and Jackson. We have loved the Gulf Shores area and are spending more time here as retirement draws near. Currently, I practice law in Cumming, Georgia (just north of Atlanta) with my son, Parker. All of our grown children love coming to the beach and we are grandparents of twins and another granddaughter.
Why the Owner Chose Homes, Single Family:
The beach in this area is much more secluded than areas closer to Gulf Shores. We have some restaurants nearby but it is only a 20 minute drive into town.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The spacious double decks with beautiful beach views are what most people love about our home. The upstairs view is breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. Dolphins come by regularly and are fun to watch. The beach is secluded because there are no high rise condominiums, only houses and duplexes. The water is clear and the bottom is easily seen for a long way out in the water.
