Fabulous condo for couples. Although the pictures are accurate, they can't do justice to the real thing. The view is simply awesome. We stayed 18 days on this island visit which was long enough to start to feel like home and there was no better place to be in this condo. It has every convenience. We especially enjoyed our mornings on the lanai watching the humpback whales put on a show. The best underwater pictures I took of the sea turtles were taken right out front in 3 feet of water. They were there every day! The location is close to very good snorkeling at Kapalua Bay and Black Rock. We enjoyed meals out at Betty's Beach Cafe and watched the free luau show next door as we ate! Another restaurant highlight was the Hali'imaile General Store out near Makawao. It is a bit out of the way but worth the drive. Warren and Annabelle's Magic show was also fabulous, can't believe we missed it on previous visits. All this and more is near the condo. The manager at the complex is very friendly and goes out of his way to be helpful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just returned from a 15 night stay and can not wait to return. We have been to Maui many times before but this was our first stay at Hoyochi Nikko. The beach was small but very nice ocean access and snorkeling. Plenty of turtles to see and snorkel with. We had no real problems with the unit but Pam contacted us to make sure everything was fine once we arrived. She and the on site manager Kenny were available if and when anything was needed. The view from the Lanai is great! Looking right at the ocean with the islands of Molokai and Lanai in the background. The sunsets and dawn were terrific from this unit. The full moon on the water created quite a view as well. We sure did enjoy having the washer and dryer in the unit. Made life a little easier. The only thing negative I can say is the parking is a bit tight but had no real problems with it. We would go back and stay in this unit again. There was room enough in the unit for both of us to be comfortable for 2 weeks. If you are the condo type and not the resort type person you will enjoy this place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently stayed in Pam & Jay's place for only a week (wish it could have been more!) What a great spot for the ultimate relaxation! Very intimate place right on your own private (although there are no "private" beaches in Maui) - this one sure felt like it. The condo has every amenity that you could want or need and is very well kept. Cleanliness is huge for us and their home is very clean. Thanks for your journal noting the highlights of Maui - even though we have been going every year since 93 its nice to find out about a beach we have never been to! Thanks again and hopefully we will be back one day! Take care, Tracy & Colin, Coquitlam BCRecommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon. Everything was exactly how it is in the listing and Pam and Jay were wonderful to deal with. The parking spot is a little tricky to get in and out of, gets better as you get use to it. Most of the time the unit is cool with the breeze coming in although sometimes even with the breeze and all the fans on it was just a little hot in the unit, but why are you still in the unit you should be outside its Maui! The view is amazing and the beach in front of the condo is great for swimming and snorkeling, just not for laying on due to the tide, but that is ok, just lay on the sand plot just off the beach at the condo. We had visits from the turtles every day and night. We did notice that everyone from all the other condos seemed to flock to the beach at this condo as it seemed to be better than theirs, oh well all beaches are public. The unit was clean and the kitchen was enough to let us make some of our own meals which was great for saving some money. The town of Lahaina is only five minutes down the road and has whatever you need. Costco is like a half an hour away(we got lost finding it). As far as attractions and resteraunts, we would recommend doing anything with trilogy excursions as we went snorkeling and on a sunset sail with them and loved both of them. We went parasailing with UFO and that was cool. We went to cold creamery for ice cream, mmmm. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere and stopped in at bubba shrimps after spending the day on front street, man we are glad we did. After two weeks in HI this was one of our best meals and great service. Also went to Sea house to eat, food was good but atmospher a little uptight, we werent sure when we got there if we were allowed to talk! We also did the old lahaina lua, that was great. If we ever make it back to Maui we would be looking to go back to this condo in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If you are lucky enough to find this place book it now!! This condo is everything it's billed as. This is a slice of heaven. We had the best weather the entire week we were there. The snorkeling at the condo was great! Saw many fish, turtles and even an octopus. The other condo renters had stayed here several times before. So if the dates you have are available I would say book right away. You CANNOT go wrong with staying here.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I love this place, like no other! The moment you open the door into the unit, you see the ocean just out front, the ocean never leaves you....you look at the blue ocean from the moment you wake up till you close your eyes at night, and even then the ocean waves sing to you in your sleep! The comfort and coziness of this condo makes you feel right at home. The snorkeling and swimming just out front of the condo is amazing, you will swim with the turtles and be amazed. The gardens are beautiful and meticulously maintained with aloha. The managers, owners, and guests are filled with the aloha spirit and are a joy to share pupus, cocktails, and laughter while watching the beautiful Maui sunsets. I highly recommend staying in this "little slice of heaven" and let all your worries be washed away. You deserve it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: What more can I say? Obviously Alyson felt the "aloha" spirit while at our Maui condo!

The pictures in the description are exactly the way you see this condo. The only thing missing is the turtles swimming back and forth. No hassel with elevators, always chairs to lounge on, sunsets undescrible. The condo was very well equipped with everything. New appliances. Bathroom even had a hair dryer. As Pam told me, just bring 2 swimsuits, a light jacket, and a couple of outfits. Condo is equipped with stacking washer and dryer, so we even could go home with clean laundry. Close by is the Town Market grocery store. Wished I would have found it right away. This is the place to rest!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Pam and Jay's "little slice of Heaven" was the perfect place for our 2nd honeymoon. The last time we were on Maui was in 1992....we truly couldn't have picked a nicer spot for our 2010 trip. Yes what Pam says about the steady sea breezes is quite accurate....after securely locking up the condo for the day for our adventures, we would arrive back "home" around 5pm, open up the doors and windows, as well as the slats on the front door, and within 10 seconds (I kid you not) the place was completely refreshed as if we were standing outside on the beach. Perfect! No need for air conditioning when you have that end unit! We saw several turtles while snorkeling off the local reef, along with many beautiful species of fish. We also enjoyed watching the local wildlife in the trees and grounds from the lanai during breakfast. At night after the gorgeous sunsets, we would sit on the lanai and watch the falling stars shoot across the western sky. Beautiful! The condo has everything you need to enjoy your Maui vacation...even a medium-sized cooler to pack and bring your lunch to your daily destinations (IF you choose to leave the condo....but you will see there's really no need to!). The housekeeping staff and building managers are fabulous, very helpful, and really make you feel like family. Thanks so much Pam and Jay for sharing your beautiful Maui home with us! Will go to Hoyochi Nikko again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If your looking to relax and get away from the fast pace life this is the condo for you. Very clean and well maintained, great pool, snorkeling out front with your very own resident sea turtle, "Barnacle Bob" The grounds are very well maintained also. Only 18 units very quiet. Note some light traffic noise @ night you can hear from bedroom, but with fan running it would cancel out any road noise. We are definitly returning to same condo next time in Maui, Highly recommend !!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Maui is incredible and Pam & Jay’s condo was a perfect place to stay. Being there in early March we woke to humpback whales blowing, fin slapping and an occasional breach. One of the green sea turtles of the pair who make their home just off the beach visited one late afternoon. Even two endangered monk seals appeared in the surf off the lanai. The sunsets were spectacular. The condo is well equipped and had everything we needed. (Although, for those who might be sensitive to heat it’s worth noting that the air conditioner is only in the bedroom.) The condo is located close to all the attractions, restaurants, etc. on the west side of the island. A real plus is Pam’s carefully prepared personal guide book which gives great tips about restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. We loved it.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We love knowing that our guests, like John and Donna feel as good as we do staying at our Maui "home". Their concern that the air conditioning is limited has a flip side. Good news is we're an end unit with a steady Hawaiian breezes. The 2 efficent ceiling fans add to the air flow.

This was I think our 5th trip to unit 209.It has one of the best views you can imagine. It can be private if you wish, being an end unit,or have all the company you desire by joining others down by the water! We really enjoy this unit and have already booked for next year! Thanks Pam for sharing.I just got home and can't wait to go again next year! Dale and MarthaDid you find this review helpful? Hyochi Nikko turned out to be the perfect place for us. The grounds are immacculate, just soooo gorgeous and peaceful. Unit 209 was great for the 2 of us; spotless, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The view from the 2nd story lanai is spectacular, and we pretty much had the beach all to ourselves. We did plenty of activities while in maui, yet i found myself each day looking forward to getting back to Hyochi Nikko to chill out and relax. If not mentioned elsewhere, the grounds include 2 gas bbq grills. I hope we will comeback someday.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed in Unit 309 at Hoyochi Nikko in Sept. 2009, and it is a perfectly wonderful place to stay. John and Irene, the managers keep the place running very smoothly and were always hard at work, and Jody did a fantastic job keeping the inside of the unit spic and span! We had everything we needed, and everything was beautiful. We really liked the fact that there were only 18 units, and it was very peaceful. There was a banana tree with bananas on it right outside our unit and a fresh pineapple to welcome us on the kitchen counter when we arrived. We were even included in a friendly gathering of Hyochi Nikko guests one night for pupus(appetizers) outside near the pool and ocean front. I would highly recommend it!Owner response: I'm afraid that Judi was so relaxed when she left Maui that she had forgot that she actually stayed in unit 209 not 309.

We stayed in Pam & Jay's Unit 209 at Hoyochi Nikko and loved every minute of the month we were there. It does indeed make you feel as though you are in your home away from home. We are returning once again this year to Maui as we have the past 6 years and are looking forward to relaxing in our "other home"!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
