Location: Windy Point, Lake Travis, Hill Country, Texas, USA (25 mins to downtown Austin, walking distance to 3 parks!) View Map
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)
Overlooking Lake Travis in the Hill Country, this one-of-a-kind architectural gem is off the beaten-path and at the center of things. As you approach over tree-covered hillsides which drop to the midnight-blue water below, you’ll get more the impression that you are in the Greek Islands or southern Italy than in Texas.
Since the Tram House can only be reached by tram, you’ll park at the base of the hill, climb into the tramcar, and let your horizon expand as you are carried 210 feet up the 55 degree hillside to the panoramic views of Lake Travis. Built in perfect alignment with the slope of the hill and standing at ‘treetop’ height, it is the only house east of the Rocky Mountains that requires a tram to access.
The Tram House boasts three private balconies, custom-designed skylights, and corner windows in the living room and bedrooms that allow unobstructed views. The three-level, contemporary-style home is comfortably furnished with all new décor. It has been featured in Austin Monthly and Parade magazines.
With its unparalleled views, exclusive location, modern comfort and competitive rates, neighbors and visitors alike rave about the unique Tram House. Come and see for yourself! Contact us for more information about this exceptional lake destination.

Map & Owner's Profile
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Windy Point“We originally bought our home because we wanted to live close to the lake,” explains Keith. While the Tram House is their primary residence, in order to “share the beauty of waking up to the lake every day,” Keith and Sheila often reside in the garage apartment that is located on the premises and rent out the main house. It works out well for them as they are often away on traveling adventures, or spending the weekends on the lake in their cabin cruiser, “Lady Luck.” Since moving into their unique home in 2005, Keith and Sheila have discovered many pleasures beyond what originally drew them in: Sunday drives through the winding Hill Country, the myriad nearby attractions and eateries, and the tranquility of being perched above it all. Their hope is for each of their visitors to love waking up to the lake, and to enjoy staying in the only home east of the Rocky Mountains that requires a tram to gain access!
The Unique Benefits at this HouseWe love to eat out. At the Tram House, you'll be close to famous restaurants like the Oasis (view), Steiner Ranch Steak House, Uncle Billy's Brew-B-Q, Solei Italian w/a view), the Boat House Grill, Hill Country Pasta House, Flores(Mexican), Ciola's (Italian), Carlos & Charlies, Cafe Blue (seasonal, but our favorite), Hudson's on the Bend (Exotic Game), Rudy's (BBQ), Thai Spice, Nygori's (Japanese), Rice' (Thai/Sushi) and many others. Also, we've been complemented many times for having such a fully stocked house. In other words, we provide soap, paper towels, bath towels, toilet paper, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, plates, glasses, pillows, sheets, etc. There's a lot that is provided that we have heard other vacations rentals do not provide. If you have any questions about what to bring, be sure to give us a quick call or email.
Owner's Map of Windy Point
Keith and Sheila wish you a warm welcome to the Tram House! Keith is a financial planner who, when he’s not at work helping one of his clients plan a financial future, can be found on his boat on Lake Travis. Sheila is a former school teacher, turned health and beauty coach, who also enjoys boating and traveling with her husband. Both Keith, as director, and Sheila, as vice president, are very active in the Comanche Trail Community Association that oversees the lakeside community in which their beloved Tram House is located.

Perfect place for a family meeting. We imported barbeque from Rudy's nearby, and minimized kitchen chores. The view was splendiferous, and the house and furnishings modern and classy.

Home was as described (spotless) and we very much enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for a girls' getaway. The home has great natural light and seems far away from anyone else. You feel like you are tucked away on a cliff with no one else around (even though there are homes above, below and nearby - they are not close and not easily seen). We sat out on the deck and chatted and enjoyed several meals amongst the gorgeous scenery and birds singing. At night we sat up on the top deck and it was beautiful as well. The lake level is still down so pray for rain! It is still beautiful despite seeing a bit more beach than "back in the day". We went to The Oasis for drinks one night and while it is beautiful, my opinion is that it is not the "same" as it used to be before the big fire. Much too "commercial" now for my taste, but still fun. We were able to load all of our groceries, luggage and 3 people onto the tram and only make one trip up to the home to unload. I will caution anyone with a physical disability that you still need to go up a small steep cement incline and a set of steps to get to the tram. The home is split level so there are also steps inside the home. I considered having my elderly parents visit for dinner but was concerned my mother couldn't make it to the tram. All in all I highly recommend it and hope one day to go back!

It was an AWESOME trip. My family and I booked this beautiful Tram House for my B-day this month. It was the most exciting 3 nights and 4 days ever. I was undecided due to my fear of heights to book this place. After speaking w/Keith, he explained how the Tram operates. He suggested I go to his website to view the Tram in action. The video doesn't do it any justice. Its like ur on top of the world literally. Smooth short ride to take the Princess to her castle for the weekend. Keith was very professional and kind. Our family plan on visiting again, real soon!

We booked this weekend stay on a short notice and Keith and Sheila were very gracious. Beautiful house with a great view of Lake Travis. Worked out wonderful for two couples. Will be back to stay again. As afraid as I am of heights, the tram car was not scary and even loved it. One con was the sink in the second bathroom needs to have the faucet fixed. I'm sure he will have that taken care of before our next stay. looking forward to more stays.

First trip to Austin and a chance to visit 1st grandchild. The house was wonderful with nonstop views, including a thunderstorm on the first night. Also saw a deer in the back yard next AM. Great kitchen successfully made a turkey dinner including all the trimmings. Only ate out 3 times during the week but I love to cook. Will have to return to Austin to experience the music, highly recommended by everyone.

Dear Keith and Sheila, We throughly enjoyed our time in your lovely home. We wish we could have joined you for dinner on Saturday, but hanging out on Friday was still a lot of fun. You two are gracious hosts, and we think you have a great house! Please accept this bottle of wine as our way of saying thank you for making our trip to Austin a memorable one. We are going to tell everyone in Dallas about the Tram House and let them know they need to visit.
