    Potter's Cay View on map

Potter's Cay, Nassau, Bahamas is not an island; it is in fact a fish market and commercial dockyard located beneath the Paradise Island bridges. It's also the place where all the action is happening: the mail boats leave weakly for the Out Islands, and the Fast Ferries leave daily for Harbour Island, Eleuthera and the Exumas. Potter's Cay is the place to go if you want to eat some spacial Bahamian food: conch salad, conch fritters, peas and rice, and so on, and it's fresh as the day it was caught - same day in fact. The road beneath the Paradise Island bridge is a real fresh market: dozens of stands where you can watch the conch being brought in from the fishing boats. You'll see how they

Cabbage Beach -- Jet skis, Parasailing, Banana Boat rides View on map

If you are looking for a nice beach on Paradise Island, this one is it. It is moderately crowded to completely empty. There is a public pathway to the beach next to the RUI hotel. take the path through the trees over the hill and down the dune to the beach. . This leads you to Cabbage Beach. As soon as you crest the hill you see people haggling, selling drinks, renting lawn chairs, but if you look to the right, the beach is an open expanse where there are very few people. This is truly a beautiful white sand beach near the Atlantis Resort open to the public. Since this beach is public, there are no lifeguards, no restrooms and no amenities except locals selling drinks etc. Seas can

Historic Downtown Nassau View on map

Join the Cruise Ship crowd and visit the World Famous Straw Market, Senor Frogs along with all the other shops, vendors and eateries. The heart of downtown Nassau is best described as the six blocks of Bay Street plus the parallel Shirley and King streets to the south between the British Colonial Hilton on the west and the Parliament Buildings on the east. This section of Bay contains a series of upscale duty-free shops aimed at the thousands of cruise ship passengers arriving each week. While the straw market located here sell arts and crafts, the department stores sell collectibles, fine arts, perfumes, jewelry, clothing and other items some ranging into the thousands of dollars. Cross streets run up into the hi

    Arawak Cay View on map

This is an area down the road from Downtown Nassau, just past Junkanoo Beach. It's a collection of seafood shacks and serve great food and drinks and very reasonable prices for Nassau. At night it takes on a real party atmosphere and it is very crowded. Parking can be difficult at night, especially weekends. During the day, the vibe is calmer and less raucous. It's fun either way. And if you like fish, conch and shrimp, then you would like this area.

Blue Lagoon -- Swim with the Dolphins View on map

One of the best beaches in the Bahamas can be found at Blue Lagoon Island, also known by its official name Salt Cay. Frequently called the “real” Bahamas, Blue Lagoon has been an interesting part of The Bahamas' history and is one of the most well known of Nassau’s natural attractions and tours. Located just three miles from Nassau, it is now the home of the dolphins and sea lions of Dolphin Encounters and is owned by a local family. This incredibly beautiful island has had a fascinating past and continues to be the number one attraction in Nassau/Paradise Island for activities with families and is wonderfully enlightening and educational excursion suited for children and adults alike. Marching Flamingos at Ardastra Zoo and Conservation area View on map

Ardastra Gardens is New Providence Island’s zoological garden. Privately owned, the zoo and tropical gardens are home to a variety of birds and animals, many of them endangered species. You can wander the tiny pathways through the lush tropical undergrowth, where you’ll see the endangered Bahamian parrot, jaguar, assorted monkeys and sloths, raccoons and other nocturnal animals. Ardastra Flamingos: Ardastra is home to a flock of pink flamingos. And these are flamingos with a difference. Ardastra’s are the only trained flock of flamingos in the world, and they perform daily for the public. Their trainer barks orders at a covey of flapping soldiers who line up as if on parade. Then they march back and forth

    Queen's Staircase View on map

Nassau's most visited attraction is the Queen's Staircase. Climb the 65 steps, recently renovated, carved out of solid limestones by slaves in the late 18th century, between 1793 and 1794. It is reported that slaves were forced to cut through rocks with axes and other sharp hand tools. This 102 foot staircase was named in honour of the 65 years of Queen's Victoria's reign. Construction of this monument is still regarded as remarkable. For practical purposes, the staircase provides a shorter route to and form Bennet's Hill.

The Senate meets upstairs in the center building and the building to the left houses the office of the Leader of the Opposition. Queen Victoria’s Statue, erected in 1905 from funds donated by the public who held her in high esteem, is in the front of the Senate building. 'Special Offer' Ferry Boat Ride from Paradise Island to downtown Bay Street where the Straw Market is located. To receive this 'Special Offer' we have a minimum stay of seven nights and this offer is for four adults. Please see photos and request 'Special Offer'when emailing us.

There is a Five Star, world famous resort called Atlantis, located on the very popular Paradise Island. Visit the restaurants and shops at Marina Village, tennis, swim with the dolphins or participate in various tourist sea excursions. Tourists can buy a day pass for $135 per adult and $80 per child and be able to enjoy all of its facilities including the Water Theme Park, slides, underwater aquariums and gorgeous beaches.

A visit to Blue Lagoon Island is highly recommended where you can pat the Sea Lions and swim with the Dolphins.Guests can spend a whole or half day on the beach on this excursion.

There is a full day 'Family Island' trips/excursions on the 'Bohengy Boat' (also called Bahamas Fast Ferries) which takes approximately 2-1/2 hours to travel to family islands like Harbor Island, Eleuthera, where there are more gorgeous, secluded beaches with pink sand.

Please find below 12 suggestions for 'Things To Do In Nassau' as follows:

1. The Straw Market - Start your vacation at Nassau's Straw Market. It's in the middle of town, and it's very popular with visitors.

2. Bay Street - If you're looking for bargains on designer clothing and other luxury items, you'll be delighted with the duty-free prices in Nassau's prime shopping district. Dance your way from store to store, with music from the steel drums at the nearby Straw Market

3. The Pirates Museum for families with kids seem to really enjoy this adventure.

4. Have your wedding or anniversary celebration at one of our gorgeous beaches or one of our Oldest Churches called Christ Church Cathedral in downtown where Prince Harry recently visited.

5. Ardastra Gardens - One mile west of downtown Nassau, you'll find one of the area's most enduring tourist attractions. A conservation center run by people who consider the animals--especially the flamingos--their companions, not pets. The Gardens' must-see attraction is their world-famous Marching Flamingo show which takes place three times daily. As their guide shouts commands, 30 or more flamingos perform in unison. No visit to Nassau is complete without a visit to this quirky site.

6. Fort Charlotte - While you're at Ardastra Gardens, visit nearby Fort Charlotte, the largest and most interesting of Nassau's three colonial forts. It features a waterless moat, a drawbridge, underground passages and even a dungeon. Be sure to look for graffiti etched in the walls by soldiers who were stationed here. Although this 18th-century fort isn't especially beautiful, you'll be glad that you brought your camera for the picture perfect views of Nassau Harbor. Admission to the fort is free, as are the regular guided tours .

7. Queen's Staircase - While you're touring the town, be sure to climb the Queen's Staircase. With one step for each year of Queen Victoria's life, the top of this limestone staircase offers one of the best views of the area. Considered one of the world's top ten outdoor staircases, it's also a short walk from the top to Fort Fincastle, built in 1793. This is another spectacular lookout to capture Nassau's magnificent landscapes in photos.

8. Junkanoo - If you're in Nassau in December, get ready to party at the annual Junkanoo festival.

9. Underwater splendor - Snorkeling is one of the many ways to enjoy the crystal clear waters that are just outside your door in Nassau. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, you can rent snorkeling and diving equipment, take lessons, go on a guided underwater tour, or set out on your own.

If you're not a swimmer, you can still see the underwater landscapes that make Nassau so famous. Glass-bottom boats and a floating underwater observatory are just a few ways for you to see the many exotic fish and fabulous coral reefs in Nassau's tranquil turquoise waters.

10. Shipwreck Cruises - For the ultimate adventure, hop a boat and sail to a deserted island for lunch, snorkeling, and exploring. Several companies offer exciting planned adventures for adults as well as families, with different destinations and themes. Whether you're interested in a leisurely cruise or a high-speed ride on a world-class powerboat, you'll find a wide range of water adventures waiting for you in Nassau.

11. Paradise Island - Cross the bridge or take a water taxi to Paradise for an unforgettable adventure.

12. Versailles Gardens and Cloisters - These are part of the Ocean Club resort on Paradise Island, and are well worth seeing.

The Bahama Islands are magnificent, and Nassau is their crown jewel. Whether you come here for the many attractions or simply to relax at our Oceanfront Villa.
