It had been my fisrt trip to the Florida pan-handle area and didn't know quite what to expect. My mind had been blown away. My wife's uncle had rented the house for a small family reunion and when we pulled up to this beautiful property, all i could think was WOW!! The house could not have been in more perfect shape. The rooms were huge, nicely decorated with beach themes, the kitchen and living areas were especially nice and big considering i am a chef and cooked almost every night. The locals were wonderful, the fishing great, and the closeness of the beach was also a treat. My wife and the other ladies in our party would be at the beach all day, while the men fished right off of the dock in our back yard. I loved the island itself-it sometimes felt like we had our own private little paradise!!! A few little tips for new travelers going to the island...Try Lynn's Seafood for all of your retail seafood needs, Harry A's on the Island- Delicious food!!!. And if you want great Mexican, check out Pepper's in nearby Apalachicola. What a trip and thank you for all of the wonderful memories!!! I will cherish them forever. Always- Phillip Vamvakides + Family

Owner response:Phillip, Thanks for the kind words. My family spent a week at the house at the end of the summer and also had a great time. My 8 year old caught a small flounder off of the dock early one morning and I will not ever forget him running off the dock to tell everybody. All the best to you and yours. We had a great time at the house. The long outside dining table made it easy for everyone to eat together and enjoy the outdoors. St. George Island is one of my favorite places to visit and relax, and this house is now my favirotie one on the island.

My family stayed here the week of July 4th, '04. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we ever spent at the beach. Our other trips have been to Panama City, Myrtle Beach, etc. St. George's Island was so appealing to us because it was so much more private (less commercial). We were afraid the kids wouldn't like that as much, but all of them loved it. The privacy/security of the plantation allowed all of them to walk and ride bicycles without the worries of 'party' beaches. We were there with our inlaws (the Rochelles) and some other family friends and all of us are already looking forward to '05. The accomodations are top-notch and there was plenty of room for everyone. The fishing was pretty dead around Bob Sikes Cut and on the beach, but that was true all over the island according to the bait shops. I guess the middle of summer is one of the slower times for fishing. We did catch quite a few trout off the dock at night fishing under the lights. I can't say enough about the vacation we had. My in-laws generousity and your beautiful residence allowed us to have a great week at a great place. P.S. I hope the hurricanes this summer didn't damage your wonderful place. I thought about you every time I watched the news and tracked the storms.

Owner response:I am very happy you were able to enjoy our vacation home. We are happy to be part of your families vacation. The Island was not really hit by the stroms to badly. Our house had only one outdoor fan damaged. We enjoy the house as much as you did when we get the chance to go down. Thank you for the kind words. Charlie Minter 850 519 3266

Great vacation, I got my limit right off the dock for speckled trout. Will be back next year. I recommend to anyone who likes to get away.

Amazing home and amazing vacation!!! Can’t say enough. The ENTIRE family enjoyed the trip. Staying at the home were both sets of in-laws, our 3 children, my wife and myself and there was more than enough room. The master bedrooms, each having their own deck, really made for relaxing evenings where everyone could retreat away to their own area while the children played in the children's playroom downstairs, complete with VCR and TV. The beach at St. George was beautiful and the water was pristine. It was the first time our kids saw an Osprey and dolphins in the wild. After the men came back from a charter fishing trip, the outdoor cooking and cleaning area made it much easier for having the “fish fry” compared to doing everything inside. One day, we ventured over to Apalachicola and enjoyed famous Apalachicola Bay oysters and had a chance to eat the “world’s largest fish sandwich”. What a treat! Needless to say, when we decide to go on another beach vacation, we will definitely come back.

Owner response:I have chartered an offshore boat myself from "Reel'em in Charters" on the Island. Dolph (the captin) picked us up at the end of our dock which is right on his way out. It helped us because we only had one car there at the time.

Really enjoyed the 5 star accommodations ... so much so that we are already planning our return vacation. Couldn't believe how close the porpoises came to the pier while we were fishing and we even had a chance to see a few deer run behind the house, which were both highlights for the kids. The beach was beautiful and the water was inviting. My wife and her sister loved tanning on the sundeck on the front of the house. I enjoyed watching, from one of the many decks on the back of the house, the shrimp and fishing boats pass through Bob Sikes Cut on their way to the Gulf, which made for really beautiful pictures. The pool added a nice touch. The kids loved it all. Thanks again!!!!

Owner response:I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the kind endorsement. We would be glad to have you back.

Absolutely gorgeous! The private deck that leads out from the top floor bedroom, overlooking the water, was my favorite place...what a view in the evenings! The kids are still talking about that weekend!

Owner response:I am glad the kids enjoyed it and hope they caught some fish.

One of the most beautiful vacation homes I have ever visited. The location is perfect allowing the ability to use the boatlift and dock just steps away from the house. The kids loved the beach during the day and the screened-in pool during the evening. The decks on each level of the house make for some of the most amazing views I have ever seen. Sunsets will never be the same.

First class accomodations, easy and convienant boat lift, relaxing pool, easy access to beach, spectacular sunsets and the wildlife on the bay was incredible; ospry, porpoise, pelicans, etc. Kids had a blast fishing off the pier while we watched from the many decks. Ground floor cooking area a real plus! Highly recommended, we'll be back! Most versitile vacation spot in the plantation.

Owner response:I am happy that you enjoyed your stay.

FIRST Class accomdations, spectacular views and sunsets, very convienant boat lift, wonderful pool and short walk to the beach. To be able to fish/ski in a moments notice, and then swim in pool or gulf all with little or no effort proved extremely relaxing. The wildlife on the bay was incredable, ospry, porpoise, pelcans, etc. Highly recomended, we'll be back!

This house was completed in September of 2002 & has just recently been put up for rent. The furnature is new and high quality. With the direct beach access and your own private bay front beach, you are able to get the total St George Island experence. Please enjoy the house and come back to this guestbook to let people know what you think.
