Baltimore townhome description
The three story Victorian house (c. 1900) is located in Charles Village, a diverse, lively (and award-winning) neighborhood adjoining the main campus of Johns Hopkins University. The house is four blocks from the main Hopkins gate and is only minutes from Penn Station where commuter trains depart hourly for Washington D.C. (in fact, many residents commute to work in Washington DC). The main corridor of Amtrak also runs through this station providing easy access to Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, to name a few northeasterly points.
The spacious, high-ceilinged rooms are simply furnished but retain much of their original charm ... for example, tall wooden-shuttered front windows, hardwood floors, a claw foot tub, and French doors into the parlor. All the necessities of a comfortable life are furnished - from beds and linens to dishes, cookware and appliances.
The house is perfect for a family coming to Baltimore for the academic year. Or, it is a great place to stay while getting acquainted with the Baltimore housing market an individual or family planning to put down more permanent roots.

Our family (four of us) stayed at this wonderful house at this terrific location over July 4th week. It was a marvelous stay! The house is lovely and very clean; the kitchen is well equipped and we even had some friends and family over for a small dinner party. We were able to take the bus (one block away) to the train station for a day in D.C., and otherwise enjoyed ourselves in Baltimore. The house has two (2!) parking spaces in the back, which is a nice plus for this urban location. It was very easy communicating with the owners, who are delightful and responsive. We will definitely consider using this house again for future trips to Baltimore!

We stayed in this house for a wedding we attended in Baltimore. We thought the house was great! It was like a home away from home. It has everything you could possibly need during your stay. The owner Linda was so easy to deal with and was very prompt and friendly when answering any of our queries by email.. The bus down to the inner harbour is only 1 block away and there's a Starbucks about 2 blocks from the house... Which is always a bonus.. There are also very friendly neighbours which we met while drinking tea on the lovely porch. We would definitely recommend this house to either a family or a group travelling together like we were.

Charming house, charming owners
Charming house, charming owners
We got off to a rough start, missed our flight which delayed our arrival by one day. The owners were very patient w/ us and concerned about our well being. The house is beautiful and spacious, built over 100 yrs ago which retains a lot of its characteristics from that time period such as the original bath tubs, hard wood floors and wooden window and door frames, but in good working order and clean. Each room is very attractive and uniquely decorated. The kitchen had everything I needed for preparing meals but unfortunately the stove stopped working 1/2 way through our stay. The owners immediately offered the use of their private kitchen upstairs (owners use this and a private bedroom if they know their guests are going to be getting in very late, as they want to make sure they greet their guests in person and make them comfortable before they head back home) until the electrician could arrive. We were able to explore Washington DC, Annapolis and New York, and loved the fact we had a comfortable place to come home to. There is private parking in the rear of the building, a grocery store less then 1 mile away, and found this house to be more reasonably priced compared to other houses for rent on VRBO. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to rent this house again in the future.

Splendid in every way
Splendid in every way
This was an entirely delightful experience. The accommodations were very spacious and comfortable, just as they appear, and it's always a pleasure to stay somewhere with a proper kitchen; this last point was vital in our enjoyment of the nearby farmer's market. It's surrounded by a walk-able neighborhood and just blocks away from local mass transit options, too, so keep your car parked. Baltimore was better, having stayed here. We'd do it again without hesitation.

Great house but no shower
Great house but no shower
We loved the house, the furniture, the decor, the kitchen, the owners, the large amount of space, and the location. We would easily have given them 5 stars but the tub had no shower fixture or soap dish. As seniors we found it difficult and somewhat dangerous (despite the rubber mat) to use the hand shower. The listing description and photos were accurate, everything was immaculate, and we would recommend the house to anyone who likes tub baths, not showers. Eddie's Gourmet market is fabulous and so is the Art Museum. The owners were very helpful. We regret we cannot give it 5 stars.

A Wonderful Stay!
A Wonderful Stay!
We rented this wonderful home over the Christmas holiday. It was a great experience and we hope to do it again. The pictures on the website do not do the home justice. It is clean and well kept and has numerous amenities. The owners were there to greet us when we arrived and explained all the features of the home. They then quickly left saying "the house is yours!" Thank you so much for a great stay and for making our and our family's Christmas so special.

We rented during the week of Thanksgiving. The house was perfect. We had 7 people ages 1-72 staying. The rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated. Everything was extremely clean and there were plenty of towels. The common areas were great when we had guests (an additional 8 people) in for brunch. The kitchen is well equipped. We truly enjoyed our stay and the house was absolutely perfect.

Made for a perfect wedding week
Made for a perfect wedding week
My husband, daughter, son-in-law, and I stayed at this beautiful home this past week, preparing for our Baltimore daughter's wonderful wedding. We used the home's courtyard for memorable meals with our children and their partners on several evenings. We had guests for a dinner the evening before the wedding and a warm and comfortable after-wedding breakfast. Each of our guests came into this rental house and commented on the warmth and beautiful condition of the house, and guests who came for breakfast from out of town told us that it was the best wedding breakfast they'd attended, partly because of the comfort of this house. Renting this house made for a perfect wedding week for my family. The owner's attention to detail is remarkable and as we drove away, we took a picture of the home where we'd spent a week making beautiful memories as we prepared for a once-in-a-lifetime event. We could not be more grateful to the owners.

Thanks for a wonderful stay. The house was a great value and very comfortable. There was plenty of space for everybody. The university neighborhood and Charles Village had every convenience. Very easy access to downtown and convention center via St. Paul. Mark La Canada, CA

Year Purchased: 1985
About the owner: My husband is a retired civil engineer and I am a semi-retired writer. We lived in this house for 25 years and will continue to maintain a small 3rd-floor apartment for weekend/occasional use.
Why the Owner Chose Baltimore:
Originally, the house was purchased as a home for us and our children who were not yet grown. Its location is ideal for folks, like us, who like a city with proud civic institutions--great universities, hospitals and medical schools, libraries, symphony and chamber orchestras, a zoo and museums in addition to our wonderful Inner Harbor with innumerable activities, restaurants, water taxis and cruises and so much history (including a lighthouse, the USS Constellation and Chesapeake Lightship). And so on!
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
We enjoy concerts at the Myerhoff, theater at Center Stage and Everyman's Theater, the Maryland Zoo, the Maryland Science Center, Fells point, the Inner Harbor, the Charles Village Festival, the proximity not only of Hopkins but also Loyola University, the College of Notre Dame, Goucher College--all within very easy access. In addition, there are festivals too numerous to mention and concert and lecture series at all the universities.
