Accommodations:  2-Stories of 3-Story Victorian, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)

The three story Victorian house (c. 1900) is located in Charles Village, a diverse, lively (and award-winning) neighborhood adjoining the main campus of Johns Hopkins University. The house is four blocks from the main Hopkins gate and is only minutes from Penn Station where commuter trains depart hourly for Washington D.C. (in fact, many residents commute to work in Washington DC). The main corridor of Amtrak also runs through this station providing easy access to Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, to name a few northeasterly points.

The spacious, high-ceilinged rooms are simply furnished but retain much of their original charm ... for example, tall wooden-shuttered front windows, hardwood floors, a claw foot tub, and French doors into the parlor. All the necessities of a comfortable life are furnished - from beds and linens to dishes, cookware and appliances.

The house is perfect for a family coming to Baltimore for the academic year. Or, it is a great place to stay while getting acquainted with the Baltimore housing market an individual or family planning to put down more permanent roots.

Why the Owner Chose Baltimore

Originally, the house was purchased as a home for us and our children who were not yet grown. Its location is ideal for folks, like us, who like a city with proud civic institutions--great universities, hospitals and medical schools, libraries, symphony and chamber orchestras, a zoo and museums in addition to our wonderful Inner Harbor with innumerable activities, restaurants, water taxis and cruises and so much history (including a lighthouse, the USS Constellation and Chesapeake Lightship). And so on!

The Unique Benefits at this 2-Stories of 3-Story Victorian

We enjoy concerts at the Myerhoff, theater at Center Stage and Everyman's Theater, the Maryland Zoo, the Maryland Science Center, Fells point, the Inner Harbor, the Charles Village Festival, the proximity not only of Hopkins but also Loyola University, the College of Notre Dame, Goucher College--all within very easy access. In addition, there are festivals too numerous to mention and concert and lecture series at all the universities.

Owner's Map of Baltimore

My husband is a retired civil engineer and I am a semi-retired writer. We lived in this house for 25 years and will continue to maintain a small 3rd-floor apartment for weekend/occasional use.
