Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2004

John is a retired electrician and I am hoping to retire in the next few years from my position as manager of a small credit union. We love the outdoors and spending time with our friends and grandchildren. Purchasing a home in Killington gave us an opportunity to do much more than ski Killington. The fall is beautiful and the hiking is unlimited. Summer is cooler and less humid than Pennsylvania, our home state. We continue to enjoy exploring the state of Vermont from our cozy home base in Killington.

Why the Owner Chose Killington

John and I have enjoyed skiing at Killington for over twenty years with our family first and now with friends as well. The lessons at Killington helped me gain confidence and eventually the ability to ski with my family. Killington has something for every level of skier. It is so easy to interact with each other on the mountain whether you are an expert or beginner. Vermont is beautiful and unexplored territory for us.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The house is snuggled into a nice wooded lot which isolates it from the hustle and bustle of the access road to Killington but is close enough to enjoy easy access to the mountain, shops, restaurants and night life. It is also closely located to the Long Trail which is part of the Appalachian Trails.

    • We enjoyed our stay completely. Everything was neat and clean, with all the necessities of home. It was a very comfortable place to hang our hat while site-seeing in the area. Very quiet and peaceful. Would love to return someday. The Langs from MO.

    • This house is the perfect place to get away and have a great vacation! Lisa and I stayed here for a long weekend in the middle of the winter and even though we don't ski we still found plenty of fun and anjoyable activities to do. The house is in perfect condition and is in a perfect location. We have many memories from this house, including the time we spent at cheese factory, teddy bear factory, and glass blowing factory. This house is absolutely a 10/10 vacation rental!

    • My husband and I have stayed at this beautifully decorated and very cozy ski house. It is the perfect location for a ski getaway. It is private and scenic, but close to all ski activities, and Killington night life. Can't wait for a return visit!

    • Just returning from another wonderful weekend at the Sundowner! Home away from home comforts surround you as you enter the house. Beautifully appointed, yet comfy, warm and inviting. We ordered up some beautiful weather for the weekend and made the most of it by visiting nearby Simon Pearce Glass Blowing Factory, Quechee Gorge, a brewery, Burlington Church St. walking mall and a lazy and wonderful lunch along side Lake Champlain. The weekend was capped off by a challenging yet rewarding hike up to Killington Peak; where the views were breathtaking! Lucky for us, the hot tub was waiting for our return. The home is a pleasure to share in. Many thanks to Pat and John for sharing this little hideaway in the woods with us again and again! We look forward to our trips again next year; we need to plan a family fishing trip with our boys -- hoping we can manage that in the spring.
