Location: Manzanillo, Colima, Mexican Riviera, Mexico (Casita is 25 Minutes from Manzanillo Airport)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: Casita
Enjoy the ocean in our newly constructed two bedroom beachfront casita that offers spectacular ocean views and authentic Mexican furnishings and construction.
Besides being a private home (not condo), what sets this home apart is a prime location in the middle of Santiago Bay and the rustic charm of palapa living. In addition to the main casita, a second 20’ x 20’ open-air palapa located next to the sea wall offers a dining area and simple outdoor kitchen with sink and gas grill. Attached to this outdoor palapa is a bathroom with shower. The simple but clean casita has two bedrooms, a dining/kitchenette area, and a small living room area. Authentic “rustico” furniture and Mexican dishes, glassware, and decorations add to your experience. Appliance and cookware are all newly purchased. Air conditioning, high speed internet connection, and two twin foam mattresses are provided as well.
Situated on a gently sloping sandy beach, children and adults will enjoy safe swimming, body boarding, stunning sunsets, and few foreign tourists. The three mile long beach is also perfect for walks, playing in the surf, or watching fishermen in pangas lay their nets. At times dolphins and whales are visible. The Mexican community of Santiago is two blocks away. Here you can explore a traditional market with fresh produce and seafood; you can also board inexpensive taxis or buses to various sites including two large nearby “American style” grocery stores.
Our friendly English-speaking caretakers, Armando and Lupita, will greet you upon your arrival at our Casita de la Playa. For a small charge Armando can meet you at the airport, provide a 3-4 hour city tour, or arrange to prepare a traditional Mexican breakfast by a local chef.
Purified drinking water, all bed linens, and towels are provided. The casita is cleaned every week but more frequent cleanings are available on request. Smoking is not permitted inside the casita and no pets are allowed.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2009
I'm currently a Professor of Education at Bethel University in Minneapolis, MN. My love affair with Mexico began when I visited Vallarta with my wife and children about 10 years ago. Since my first exposure to Mexico I have returned seven times with groups of education majors from Bethel. In addition to these yearly visits our family purchased beachfront property in Manzanillo (Santiago Bay) about three years ago. In July of 2009 we completed construction of a simple casita that we use as a family and for rental purposes.
Why the Owner Chose Manzanillo
When this beautiful beachfront property became available our family moved immediately to make the purchase. We loved the traditional Mexican setting, low crime rate, and the friendliness and warmth of the people. The relaxed living and easy access to taxis and buses was a benefit as well. The established ex-pat community helped us navigate the construction and furnishing of our casita. The fact that Manzanillo is not overly touristy added to the appeal of this location.

The casita was exactly as described. It was perfect for my family. Everything was clean and comfortable. The beach was just a few feet away. The ocean waves were wonderful to listen to as we went to sleep each night. We loved that you provided cookware, beach toys, board games and even books for all ages. We were able to walk to the local market each day and it was also easy to catch a bus or taxi. We grilled fresh fish and enjoyed the outdoor eating. The outdoor bathroom was no problem. Armando was available if we needed anything. Beautiful sunsets!

I came back home on Sunday and would gladly turn around and head back to your Casita. It was simply delightful. Your accommodations were excellent - the phots and description are 100% authentic. We loved the outdoor kitchen/eating area. Armando was extremely helpful with the airport shuttle and checking in daily. We received surprises of salsa, dinners and excellent tips. He helped us shop and deliver donations after the hurricane. We met his wife and 2 of his sons - very warm and caring people. The weather was spectacular. The beach at Club Santiago was easy to get to and fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and your piece of Heaven in Manzanillo.

The Casita was just as advertised a "real haven" to get away from it all. Enjoyed the walks on the beach and listening to the crashing waves that lulled us to sleep. Armando made us feel at home and we had every thing we needed for our week's escape. Thanks Jay, we will return.

We stayed for two weeks in December and it seemed far too short for such a wonderful place. The amenities were as promised and the view is spectacular, especially sunsets! I have been to this particular area of Mexico many times throughout the years and found the location of the Casita to be very convenient for those without a car and on a truly gorgeous stretch of beach. Would highly recommend this property and the very helpful owners. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

La Casita de la Playa is a comfy place for relaxing indoors and outdoors. It is clean, well-stocked with dishes for cooking, and has numerous places to lounge in sun and shade overlooking the beach and surf. We were looking for an experience that was not a canned resort, but rather one that gives us a feel for the culture and the flexibility to explore on foot . We got what we were looking for. We were able to walk to the fresh food markets every day, and we walked a good portion of the beaches and the nearby commercial thruway. We enjoyed cooking and eating outdoors, and of course being able to be outside as soon as we got up in the morning and stay outside until going to bed. The local property managers are outstanding--they were available for any questions and checked in every other day to water the landscaping and see to our needs.

Jay, I can't suggest a thing to do different....Your casita is perfect!!! The drive in was a bit challenging only because it was dark and we were not familiar with the area. Funny thing...every time we stopped to ask how much farther (no one in our family speaks Spanish) the answer was always the same...about 2 more hours!!! It got to be a standing joke for the rest of the trip. I want you to know how extraordinary Armando and Lupita are. Our vacation was enlightened by their hospitality, friendliness and genuine willing to serve our EVERY NEED!!! They are truly wonderful people and we feel very blessed to have met them. We look forward to traveling in that part Mexico in the future and hope to be able to find flights a little closer then Puerto Vallarta. Thank you so much for sharing your casita with us. We as a family have never bonded so well with the outdoor kitchen and bath working perfectly. Other then my husband stepping on a stingray (nothing serious) the trip was picture perfect, weather included. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation!!!! Jack, Shirley, Jessica and Amanda also Adam and Sean!
