This area of the Georgia coast remains quiet and secluded and lies in the path of hundreds of migratory bird species along the colonial coast migratory route. Reveling in each sunrise, taking lazy afternoon naps and toasting the sunset is the norm rather than the exception here. Darien/McIntosh County is famous for its fishing and rich in history. The surrounding tidal creeks and rivers are teaming with fish. Buy fresh shrimp and seafood right off the shrimp boats! Nearby Sapelo Island is alive with culture. This remote barrier island offers tours, biking through maritime forrests and beautiful beach for great shelling. This coastal home is accessable by car. It is beautifully decorated with every concern for detail. From the gourmet kitchen to the luxurious master suite and your own private swimming pool. This 3000+ square foot marsh front home with tidal creek access is a truly tranquil and relaxing setting. Boaters, you are just minutes from the Intracoastal Waterway and Doboy Sound. Public boat ramps and marinas are 5-10 minutes away. 55 minutes south of Savannah, GA and one hour north of Jacksonville Florida. A short 30 minute drive to St. Simon's Island and Jekyll Island.

We stayed at this house during Spring Break and it was perfect for us. The house is someone's much loved second home and is managed by a local couple who are extremely friendly and helpful. They were very quick to respond to emails to make the reservation and to answer questions we had before the trip. The description and photos in the listing are accurate. The house is very clean, well-maintained, and stocked with everything you could possibly need. We loved having the attached garage on the last morning because we could stay dry loading the car while it was pouring rain outside. What the website can't convey is how relaxing and beautiful the house and the surrounding area are. We took our dog for long walks around the area and enjoyed the many birds and the herd of deer we regularly saw. The back deck is perfect for sunning while the front porch is perfect for relaxing in the shade with a book. Wherever we went during the day we loved coming home to beautiful sunsets and a quiet evening together. We worried about biting bugs, but a constant breeze from the ocean kept the no-see-ums at bay so we spent a lot of time outdoors. Our teen daughter greatly appreciated the quiet nights to de-stress and catch up on her sleep. She also appreciated the excellent wifi to stay in touch with her friends and stream some movies before bed. The house's location in Darien was convenient for us because we knew we wanted to go south to the island beaches (30-45 minutes) and north to Savannah (1 hour). Our week flew by and we all felt like this home made our first trip to coastal Georgia really special. We have rented from VRBO several times and this is one of our favorite houses. We'd recommend this rental to anyone who enjoys a peaceful, beautiful location and want to be in a beautiful home. It is not the right rental for someone who wants to be in the middle of all the spring break action or just wants a crash pad.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review and for staying at Sea Breeze. Nature and quiet beauty is what this area is all about. Sounds like you took full advantage of what the Georgia coast has to offer. We hope you'll return for another visit.

The house is very nice. Loved the huge kitchen and island. It was very clean. The only disappointing part was that the master bedroom did not have a king size bed. They did have one in another bedroom, however, it had a hugh lump in the middle of it. The mattress needs to be replaced, and we could not sleep on it. The other problem was the big horseflies. You could not sit by the pool because of them. They would bite us while in the pool. They were constantly trying to land on us, and if they bite you, you immediately know it as it really stings. We bought candles to keep them away, but the breeze always blew them out. I never thought being so close to the marsh would attract so many flies.Recommended for: Age 55+.
Owner response: The King bed in one of the additional bedrooms is two twins put together allowing for a change back to twins when needed. Horse flies are some of Mother Natures meanest little beasts. They are present for a short time and attracted to dark moving objects. Horse fly traps help some as does where light colored clothing and a cap.

Beautiful House and the migratory birds were amazing. Very Peaceful! Jan and Bill helped to settle us in and went out of their way to help with all our needs. However, for this quality of home I did expect better bedding. The queen in the master was not of the quality as the rest of the furnishings. The mattress, the sheet thread count nor the pillows were of the standard this home should provide. I think if these items were corrected one would fine this place just perfect!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This accommodation exceeded our expectations with more than just a few wonderful ammenities. For us, this was a last minute "getaway" from a short distance away for a family gathering to celebrate a Grandfather's birthday. From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out, every single minute was enjoyed either swimming in the pool, riding a bicycle, sitting on the front porch swing, or rocking in a rocking chair enjoying the beautiful scenery from the back porch. I say listen up all Coastal Georgia residents, you do not have to drive a long distance to stay at a costly resort, just reserve this beautiful, well appointment, greatly furnished home. You will not be disappointed. I'm alreday thinking about when I can rent again this upcoming Fall season.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This house was very very nice if you want a quiet and secluded place with a private pool and all the amenities. We spent mornings golfing on Jeykll and St. Simon's Islands and lazy afternoons relaxing by the pool. Sea Breeze Island is a good name for the place. For most of our stay we had a strong warm wind from the ocean. Jan and Bill at the Blue Heron Inn were pleasant and helpful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, BAD EXPERIENCE

The interior of the house is beautiful and the layout is very nice. The porches were large and very comfortable. The bedrooms were very large and very comfortable also. The pool was beautiful. The scenery was awesome. The exterior is in dire need of pressure washing. The grass looked as if it had not been cut in a couple of weeks. Tuesday morning a gentleman came by and cut it and blew debris in the pool, which we cleaned out. All that was no problem. Now my concerns. My family has been renting places for several years for our annual vacation. The caretaker was not very nice, even bordering on being rude. We had three dogs, two of which stayed in the yard the entire week. The other which is house broken was restricted to sun room. No dog had access to the inside which has beautiful carpet. We did not want a mistake to happen. After talking to the caretaker this morning she said we left it in a mess. NO WAY. She said milk was on a headboard. My family is taught that the table was the place for food and drink. The dog hair that was under the big table, and there was a lot, did not come from our dogs as I described above. They were not allowed in the house. Oh and she said there was a Cherrio on the floor. Evidently a big no-no. Dog hair good. Cherrio bad. My family has always been raised to respect other people's property and to leave it in better condition that they found it. From the first day we arrived, we were uncomfortable from the way we were greeted. The caretaker did meet us at the house and saw who we were and how many we were. She had no problem with us then. And as she said the owner is military. I was in the military where I was taught to have respect and be truthful when dealing with people. Renters or owners or caretakers. Of course I had already learned these lessons at home. BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, AWESOME SCENERY, VERY BAD EXPERIENCEOwner response: We, the owners, were the last to use the house before this reservation and feel very strongly the house was clean. We are very sorry if the caretaker seemed rude to you. We and the caretaker were expecting six adults. When 6 adults plus several small children and 3 dogs arrived I'm sure our caretaker was a bit overwhelmed. The home includes a pool. For this reason we have elected to not accept children due to safety concerns (the pool is not fenced and not required to be by local code). We have elected to be very selective of the type and number of pets accepted. Never would we accept three! The caretaker was torn between following our (owner's) requests and ruining someone's vacation. Later, housekeepers reported a need for increased cleaning. The caretaker had no choice but to deduct the expense from the cleaning/damage deposit.

Pros: 1) Beautiful house and back yard view! 2) Most amenities were included (i.e. 2 bikes, pool floats, linens) 3) Very quiet and safe area and very friendly people 4) Close proximity to boat landing- if you have a boat, bring it! Cons: 1) House was hard to find using Google directions and GPS. Call Jan or Ed for correct street names before 6:00pm!! 2) This rental listing advertised waterfront access. We did not have access to a dock. Apparently there is a neighborhood debate as to who has rights to access the dock. 3) The pool was beautiful the day of arrrival, but quickly turned a murky color. It was fixed within 36 hours. 4) HORSEFLIES- of course, you're on the Southern coast, so you have to be prepared for bugs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the fact that our dogs were allowed to stay. There is not a whole lot to do in the area. St. Simons is the closest beach (40 minutes) and Jekyll (60 minutes). If we choose to vacation in coastal GA again, we would definitely want to come back to Darien.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home is way more than the description. The house is beautiful, it was very clean. Every thing you could possibly need, was there. The scenery was beautiful outside, and the pool was great. If we are ever this way again, I would defintly want to stay here. I highly recommend this home. Also in Darian is a restaurant called A&J 's ,they have the biggest & best shrimp. The ferry ride over to Sapeleo island was great also.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
