We came up as a student group for a ski trip. We wanted to stay somewhere that would add to the overall experience, and this cabin did not disappoint. The cabin was large and comfortable and clean. It was well supplied and completely as advertised. My students loved it, and I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to enjoy the Maggie Valley area. The only thing that I wish I had known was just how difficult the approach to the cabin would be to navigate. I take full responsibility for not asking for specific details, but the road to the cabin is steep and not much wider than a single lane. Needless to say, our church buses were not a good fit. The approach is not dangerous or even that difficult for a regular car, truck, or suv. But it wasn't possible in our bus. Didn't detract from our stay, just wanted to make sure others are not caught off-guard. Overall, an excellent experience. I look forward to visiting Maggie Valley again in the future, and this cabin is the first one I will attempt to book!

For 25 years I have been visiting these mountains and I must say this was the most magnificent view I've ever had. Upon 1st sight, breathtaking is the word. A word to the wise, daunting drive up the mountain even in summer! Low gear is a MUST. We had internet problems the entire week...Meagan did try her best but no luck! We managed though, teens didn't seem to mind. Plenty of things for them to do. Billiards, air hockey, Wii and board games. They had a great time. The house is well equipped if you enjoy cooking. Nice appliances. Truth be told, mattresses not our cup of tea but we slept so no big complaints. So much to do in the area we could have stayed 2 more weeks. Truly did not want to go home. Thank you to Meagan for opening up her home to us. We enjoyed.

This is the place to stay if you want to travel up into the mountains and have a great view! My family stayed in this cabin when my son got married in Maggie Valley. Wow! It was amazing!!! This home is beautiful. I can't name one negative thing about it. We didn't want to leave! The deck and the views were gorgeous...there was a lot to do to keep everyone entertained...the kitchen had everything imaginable and the beds were comfortable. Can't wait to go back someday!!!!!

Our experience at Hickory Lodge cabin was wonderful! Everything was as described or better and the owner was so helpful and accommodating. The game room downstairs is amazing and would be perfect for a family with children. The cabin was very clean and well stocked, the owner really has thought of everything you could want or need. Great value for the rates. We've stayed in many HomeAway and VRBO rentals and this one is one of the best! Brett & Kim

We stayed at Hickory Lodge from Sunday, Jan 22nd - Wed, Jan 25. We had never been to Maggie Valley before. We chose Hickory Lodge because of the 3 master suites, game room, hot tub, location and "mountain top" feel the views provided. My husband and I brought our 3 children (ages 11, 7 and 2) and another family (husband/wife and 2 children, ages 12 and 9). It was absolutely perfect in every way. When opening the front door the first impression definitely "WOW'd" us. It was bright and airy in the living room/kitchen/dining room area. It felt extremely clean too. To the left and right of the kitchen/dining is a master suite. They are both the same size (king bed and full bathroom inside) with a good size flat screen TV (although we had so much fun enjoying each others company we never even turned bedroom TV on). That is where my husband and I stayed as well as the other husband/wife. Off of the living room is the amazing wrap around porch (the pictures with the outdoor seating w/ red cushions). We would sit out there for a little happy hour around 5pm and also had our coffee out there in the morning. The views are spectacular. When you go downstairs you walk into a game room/living room area. It has a pool table, air hockey table, a bar/sink area stocked with various board games, table with barstools, couch, flat screen, and a Wii. Outside of this living room is another wrap around porch with 2 rocking chairs and a hot tub. Again, the view is incredible. Back inside the game room/living room there is 1bedroom on each side. One has a futon and a Queen bed with a full bathroom (which is where the 2 oldest girls stayed, 12 and 11). And the other room had bunk beds on one side and bed with a trundle on the other side. This is where the 2, 7, and 9 year old stayed. They had MORE than enough room... they loved their own space. It was a wonderful CLEAN home; kitchen was fully stocked with all your cooking needs. There is a great grill off the porch on the main level. There is also a firepit out front where we roasted smore's with the kids. We loved being up so high on the mountain. The house had a true "cabin" feel to it. Meagan is a delight to work with and will respond to you almost instantaneously if you have a question. The only recommendation I would have is that it would be nice if there were a few more rocking chairs on lower deck. Overall, amazing experience and we will definitely be back. Thanks Meagan for sharing your h

Thirteen family members stayed in this beautiful home the week after Christmas. When we walked in the door we knew we had made the perfect choice. Not only was the home lovely but it provided all the necessities for our family. Since we're from Florida flatlands the drive up the mountain to the house was an adventure everyone loved! The weather even co-operated with snow so we were able to snowboard, go tubing, ziplining, horseback riding and hiking plus enjoy sightseeing in the surrounding areas. A great time was had by all! We would definitely recommend this beautiful well-maintained home to anyone interested in going to this area. You will be very pleased with your choice.

Wonderful, restful week enjoyed by our entire family. Views were spectacular and the cabin was super clean. The only bad part was having to leave at the end of the week.

We were a group of 9 golfers who rented this beautiful home for a week in May 2011. We take a similar trip each Spring, always rent a home and can honestly say that this was the best home we've rented. The home was spotless, comfortable and very well appointed with wornderful details throughout. The kitchen is superb with many top of the line accessories. The hot tub, pool table, bar and game room were nice features. The deck and views were absolutely amazing. We would sit each evening and gaze above the tree tops as we enjoyed our cocktails and relived our golf conquests.

Wow! We had a perfect five night stay at the luxurious cabin. We arrive late afternoon on Friday just four of us, husband and two sons, and had a wonderful time cooking on the grill, taking in the beautiful mountains, playing guitar, singing, playing pool and soaking in the hot tub. It would be the last time just the four of us would be together because on Sunday we added my lovely daughter in law to the family. Saturday and Sunday we had the groomsmen join us and the home was perfect for all of us. There was plenty of room for everything -especially getting ready for the wedding. Everyone just loved the home. After the wedding, it was just my husband and I until Wednesday and we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. So relaxing. The climb to the top is steep and my old car had a tough time climbing the mountain, but we made it. SUV’s had no problems at all. It took me a little bit of time figuring out the remotes to the Televisions and Direct TV and I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the fire place downstairs, but we used the upstairs fireplace and we were very comfortable. I love the cabin and hope to come back in the future-maybe with grandbabies!

The cabin and wood work is awesome. The view is breath taking. All you need is clothes and food every thing else to make you feel at home is provited. From the dual laundry machines , the spices in the cabinets, to the shish cabob scewers for the grill. A great place to bring the family or friends for a relaxing get away. Theres also plenty to do close by. We can't wait to get back up there.

This home is perfect for a weekend getaway and we really enjoyed the home. Perfect home for two or even three families with views that are BEAUTIFUL! Plenty of room to spread out and an updated kitchen. Very close drive to the ski resort and a great home to come back to and enjoy a quiet night! A detail was not missed when decorating this home with all updated appliances. Very helpful directions and owner very responsive to questions. Thanks so much for a perfect weekend!

This place is everything you could wish for in a mountain get away. I came here with my family and two others for a few days and we had the most incredible time. First, the mountain view is out of this WORLD. You really are "getting away". I can only imagine how incredible this place is in the fall time surrounded by all these trees. Second, the accommodation is outstanding. Each of the three main bedrooms has their OWN bathroom, and each bedroom is about the same, which means no need to fight over shower time or choosing the master suite, because they are ALL master suites with ensuite baths. The cabin is deluxe! Nothing rustic here, its all luxury - two washer/dryer sets, hot tub, dishwasher, granite countertops . . no expense was spared here. Its fully equipped with all the amenities you could need. The other amazing thing is that there is a ton of great things to do within an hour drive. We enjoyed a great meal and shopping in Waynesville, and another night, we drove to see the Dixie Stampede which was only an hour or so away. Lots of things to do and see. Kids loved this place too. Great set up for kids downstairs. Thanks Meagan we are really grateful to have enjoyed this special place.

Meagan wasn't kidding that the roads were steep (although easily negotiable). Carefully following her directions we arrived late in the evening. Upon entering the cabin we were greeted by an expansive living room and well appointed kitchen. Before we lugged our gear into the cabin, we took a tour inside. You know, exploring everything... and wow, this place had everything... and CLEAN! It was dark on a moonless night but out on the expansive deck we saw a couple of twinkling lights far below. We took our tour inside and discovered 4 tastefully decorated bedrooms, a game room with pool table, and a JACUZZI on the equally expansive lower deck! We were exhausted and sleep came quickly and easily because of the comfortable surroundings. It was quiet, still… We awoke early, strolled barefoot from our bedroom onto the deck and greeted by a most spectacular view! You could see for miles! Just - WOW - The valley below was shrouded in clouds but we were above all that! We sipped our coffee not saying much because the view was all that needed to be said that first morning. We were all alone up there. Sure there were other homes on that mountain but the way that the cabin is situated the view from the deck is very private. We spent this day, simply enjoying the view. This home on the mountain overlooking Maggie Valley is the perfect retreat. Clean and large, you feel at home right away. After looking around a bit, I discovered that this cabin has the BEST view as compared to the other cabins on the mountain. You'll see what I mean! The only thing you need is food (bring some steaks for the grill!). The kids have their own “bear cave” with bunk beds and they are downstairs right off the game room so they will be more than occupied. Perfect for a large family or a couple of families; private baths, private deck areas off the upstairs bedrooms. Let the kids loose in the “bear cave” and enjoy. There is plenty to do while visiting the area... shopping, site seeing, golfing, tennis, hiking, site seeing, gambling etc. And after a long day of doing all those things, you are welcomed by a beautiful cabin and the owners hospitality. You will be well at ease here. I'm planning my next trip now! Thank you so much John and Meagan! Oh yeah... Don't rely on your GPS instructions or computer generated directions to get up to the cabin! The roads on those electronic devices just ain't so in the real world. Just follow Meagan's directions!
