My family and I were pleased with the week we spent at the Lake House. First off, yes, the place does look exactly like the photos. The home is clean, comfortable and has a ton of space on three levels. The main living area has comfy leather seating, a nice TV and plenty of space to relax. The house has several outdoor living areas. The front porch has a great view of Nantahala Lake. The screened-in side porch has a picnic table and hot tub. There is also an upper deck with an even better view of the lake. The lake area pictured is a bit of a walk from the cabin. We walked to it initially, but drove there after that, as it was quite a trudge back uphill to the cabin. The water in the lake is crystal clear, and the area around the dock was scenic, clean and serene. This is a great swimming lake, and we spent several peaceful hours lolling around in the water near the dock. The owners were great to deal with. The hot tub was out of whack when we arrived, but that was promptly remedied. The rest of the property was in top notch shape. The gravel road into the cabin is steep. It was daunting at first, but by the end of the week we were old pros at navigating the grades and turns. Activities we enjoyed on our stay: hiking the Appalachian Trail to Wesser Bald and Siler Bald, tubing down Deep Creek at Bryson City, and hanging around the lake. There's not much to do on a rainy day, though, so be prepared to entertain yourself. I brought a cyclocross bike and had a great time pedaling down the Old River Road, Winding Stairs Road, Tuni Gap, etc. Getting out of the development to the main road was half the fun! We've stayed in many places in the Nantahala Lake and Bryson City area over the years and this was our favorite.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Summer rates $265.00 per night $1350.00 per week Fall/Winter rates 185.00 per night or 1050.00 per week Plus 9.5% taxes and cleaning fees We recommend vacation insurance due to winter weather conditions during the months of December through March. The weather in the mountains can be unpredicable and last winter several roads and areas suffered from lots of snow which resulted in some areas suffering from loss of power or causing challenging driving on roads.
