Location: Fox Island, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (9 Mi to Gig Harbor/20 Mi to Tacoma/37 Mi to Sea-Tac Airport) View Map

Accommodations:  House, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath (Sleeps 5-6)

View, view, view! Waterfront property on 2+ acres with enchanting home that was originally a school house in the early 1900's. The cupola bell still operates via a rope in the living room. Converted to a residence in the 1930's and updated since then, this property combines historic charm with modern conveniences.

You'll enjoy the large yard with its horseshoe pit, volleyball/ badminton net, and hammock strung between two huge cedar trees. But mostly, you'll fall in love with the 180 degree view of the protected inlet -- most mornings you'll awake to a glassy reflection of the mountains in the water.

Bring your boat or rent one in Gig Harbor as the property has a shared dock available. Use the waterskiing course or go for an evening cruise to see the sea lions, otters, and porpoises. Of course, you can also just sit back on the deck and see osprey, bald eagles, herons, deer, squirrels, and many other species native to the Pacific Northwest. We've seen all of these in just the last 6 months.

The large kitchen is very well equipped with cooking utensils and a basic supply of staples -- seasonings, sugar, coffee, etc. Grocery service is available upon request so that you'll have all of your cooking needs upon arrival. Forget something? A small market is within walking distance.

Bottom line -- comfort, tranquility, beauty, privacy, and yet close to shopping and urban activities. The best of both worlds.

Why the Owner Chose Fox Island

We purchased this property because it is close to urban conveniences but feels like another world. It's our haven to escape the pressures of everyday life. We enjoy boating, water sports, biking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with our family and friends. This place has it all.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We aim to go the extra mile for our guests. We can provide services such as airport shuttle, excursions, grocery shopping, cooking and art classes, and catering. Need something else? Just ask! We know that vacation time is precious and we want to help you maximize your experience.

Once a church, this quaint facility is now used for weddings and other events.

Owner's Map of Fox Island

Keith is originally from Boston and Lisa grew up near a lake in rural Oregon, so we both love being near the water. Keith is a dentist. Lisa is in culinary school and also works as a caterer. We have two teenage children (the one not pictured was taking the photo).

    • Stayed here with some friends last weekend of September 2009. Great (school) house that feels like an old cabin with a nice modern kitchen area. The water really comes right into the house through the big windows. The big front lawn seems to sit right on top of the water. We were glad we brought a canoe to row around the small, private "Tanglewood" island just off shore. Lisa, the owner, was very gracious and acomodating, and also keeps a kitchen well supplied with basic cooking needs. Only negatives: the driveway down to the dock is very steep, house could have used a few comfy deck chairs for relaxing outdoors (though there's a great hammock) and the TV only gets 13 channels (but who needs it?). Overall, a great place to relax.

      Homeowner Response:
I agree that we need some "comfy deck chairs" so will purchase those right away. We are in the process of getting enhanced cable and internet access but it hadn't been installed when these renters stayed. It's in the works, though!
