We were very lucky to find such an ideally located house to rent for our month long stay. The house has a good layout with the kitchen on one end and the bedrooms on the other. There is a wonderful enclosed courtyard and quaint backyard for our 3 year old to run around safely. The house had nice updates to the kitchen and bathrooms. The master bedroom is large with high ceilings. I would have preferred darker window treatments to keep the light out in the morning though. It is a very quiet location only to be woken up by the singing of birds. Lorraine was very responsive to all of our questions and timely with the return of the deposit. The best kids park is just two blocks away which we enjoyed every day. We are picky renters and were overall very satisfied with our experience. We would definitely rent this house again.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

This house is in a great (clean, safe) neighborhood with a nice park and dog park around the corner. Convenient to shopping, services. The floorplan is good with big dining area and table, small office area and one living area. The kitchen was well stocked and had good quality appliances, cookware, etc. (like a main home rather than a rental). Furnishings, beds and linens were all good. It was nice to have a king bed in the master. Bathrooms, hot water and water pressure were all good. Storage space was very adequate. Listing photos were very accurate. The house is not well insulated and furnace is probably older as it runs constantly to keep up even a moderate temp on chilly nights. Suspect same (reverse) issue with a/c on hotter summer days. Flannel sheets found in the closet came in handy. The living area TV was good but HD service and a DVR would have made it better. Since we were there for a month the owner was ok with us adding that by going to Comcast ourselves, then switching it back before departure. There's no separate sound system in the home. The front courtyard is cute. The back yard is small (typical for the area) with a great gas grill but no seating back there. The garage is not available but there's plenty of room for 2 cars on the driveway. The owners communicated well, responded promptly to a couple of maintenance items and returned our deposit promptly. Thanks for that and for being pet-friendly.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: The problem with the furnace has been corrected; the air conditioner is fine. High definition TV and DVR have been added. Thank you, Ralph, for your suggestions.

We stayed over a month and enjoyed every minute of it. The pluses include: centrally located in Silicon Valley yet in a very quite neighborhood; one block from a beautiful park where our whole family enjoyed (soccer, playground, jogging); the layout of the house works really well for noise reduction between the living area and sleeping area; the house is so well stocked with everything you need; and most importantly, the kitchen is equipped with the highest quality equipment from appliances to cookware and kitchenware, etc. Our family makes every meal from scratch so this kitchen was a delight. Most importantly, the owners are extremely responsive and friendly people. When the Internet was down (not their fault but the carrier's), they made immediate calls to Comcast. Same was true when we experienced another minor problem with the water heater and they sent a plumber immediately. Great house, great people, we recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Great guests! The business is appreciated.

The description of this home and its location is very accurately presented. I was very hesitant in trusting the internet with what could be considered the home base of our entire stay in California. Each time I had a question about one thing or another and emailed the owner, she responded quickly and explained everything in depth. I felt I could find an answer for anything that would come up. When we reached the house after our airplane ride, it was like a breath of fresh air - everything was clean and inviting. Anything we needed, plus more, was right at our fingertips. I really liked the way the house was arranged. We had a very mixed group (children, in law’s parents, and sister). The master bedroom it was like having a home within a home - when someone felt they needed time by themselves they could find solace in that room. Also with the way the hallway ran, we had a lot of privacy getting to the other bedrooms which I didn't think we would have. I was also impressed with the strategic location - being within driving distance of all sightseeing locations. I would not hesitate to recommend the property to anyone who would be looking for a home away from home with great emphasis on "home". We definitely had a most pleasant stay; and, we thank the owner for giving us this opportunity. This beautiful house is our first choice if we were ever get the chance to return to California.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: The size, physical arrangement, quality of contruction and location of the house are genuine assets. We appreciate the house and our guests. It makes doing business fun!

This was the first time I had rented a home for a trip. I was to be in Palo Alto for business for 7 days and wanted to get in a little vacation time as well. I contacted the owner and was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was to rent and how professional the rental agreement was handled. My initial contact was approximately four months in advance and up until the time of arrival, I contacted the owner by e-mail and phone a couple of times with questions. Again, the owner was very professional and friendly along with being quick to respond. At one point, I inquired about a barbeque grill for outside cooking as one was not listed in the agreement. The next thing I know, the owner had purchased a grill for our, and others, use. Yes, this owner cared about making our trip enjoyable. Upon arriving, I found the home to be in a great location for business in Palo Alto, for sightseeing in San Francisco and for taking a drive along beautiful highway 1. It was perfect for traveling any direction. I also found it to be in a great location in Sunnyvale. It is located in a peaceful neighborhood, is located near a park with many activities and is within a nice walking distance to the grocery, restaurants and shopping. We comfortably slept 6 people and it allowed for enough personal space to relax as opposed to a hotel room. The kitchen allowed for home cooked meals with all appliances and gadgets necessary for creating a great meal. The courtyard was well kept with many beautiful flowers and was perfect for reading a book or taking a nap as it was private and secluded. By the way, make sure you stop to smell the roses! If you like sunshine, then the windows were perfect but also allowed for privacy when the shades were pulled closed. Each bedroom was equipped with its own flat screen TV as well. Most importantly, this house is clean and well kept. I feel as if this house will meet the expectations for many purposes and highly recommend it. Yes, if I travel back to the area again then I would certainly check to see if it is available. Especially considering how accommodating the owner was in assuring that we had a great getaway. It would be my first choice!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We understand how important it is to have a home base, even when you are traveling. We enjoy providing for those needs, and we appreciate the business.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: After teaching for thirty four years, and repairing cars, and airplanes and investing in properties for even longer, we have become 'snow birds'. We travel between our homes, maintaining vacation rentals, visiting grandchildren and exploring the world. Creating 'home' and sharing our favorites with others has become a passion.
Why the Owner Chose Sunnyvale:
We like the climate and the location. The house is center of a 35 mile radius extending to San Francisco, The Pacific Coast, Montery Bay and the CA redwood forests. Sunnyvale is cooled by a gentle breeze from the San Francisco Bay in the afternoons. It is a short bike ride to the wet lands, and a very short walk to Las Palmas Park or other local favorites like Starbucks, Trader Joes, Borders, a work out room, and swimming at the 24 Hour Nautilus or the public library.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Because of its central location, play can be easily combined with work, school, family and medical needs. The house is within a three mile radius of Apple, HP, Intel, Yahoo, IBM, Micro Soft, Symantec, Netflix, Moffet Field, Kaiser and El Camino Hospitals and the University of Santa Clara.. It is only nine miles from Stanford Unniversity and San Jose State University.
Bottom line: The house is more affordable than a 5* hotel, more private than an apartment, more spacious than a condo, and more central than most other options.
