Enjoy movies and satelite tv on a new 40 inch flat screen in the lower level recreation/entertainment area. DVD, VCR, air hockey table and board games are provided.
Listen for the eerie call of the loons piercing the morning mist. Beachcomb for fossils on the private beach and rock groins. Stroll at dusk westward from the Christie Beach Conservation Authority on the long sandy beach, with the brilliant summer sun slowing dipping behind the hills of Cape Rich, then return to roast marshmallows over glowing ambers in the cottage's beach fire pit. Count the stars in the Big Dipper, and experience the August meteor showers, and on occasion, the dancing Northern LIghts.
Little ones will especially enjoy the swing under the balcony and their very own Adirondack chairs and table. Take them on special excursions to the playground and sandy beach at the nearby Conservation Authority and scamper up the creek bed with its very interesting geological formations.
For skiers and bikers, store your equipment in our new shed specifically designed for ski and bike lock-off.
High speed internet is available.
SPECIAL NOTE: We are a senior friendly facility, with newly constructed ramp, main floor bedroom, main floor bathrooms with safety devices, and direct access to the deck. The beach has been recently graded with a gentle slope allowing easy access to the waterfront.

The Loons at Christie Beach - 4 Season Cottage on Georgian Bay
Year Purchased: 1982
Why the Owner Chose Blue Mountains
Sue vacationed in the area during early childhood and loved the majesty of the Bay and the friendly atmosphere of the local villages. There was always so much to do - from skiing to sailing, or visiting the Tom Thompson Gallery in Owen Sound or the Elvis Festival in Collingwood. Here the children learned to downhill ski and had their first taste of live theatre.
Our favorite outings – to cross-country ski or hike the Kolapore Uplands through the towering hardwoods and protective cedars,
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
At the Loons you can enjoy a true four season experience – bike through the white apple blossoms of spring along the Georgian Trail, soak up the summer sun on the cottage’s private beach or windsurf at nearby Craigleith, cast your rod for trout and salmon in the nearby Beaver or Big Head Rivers, absorb the colours of autumn while hiking and biking the Kolapore/Bruce Trails, experience the fun of downhill skiing at the nearby escarpment resorts and cross country skiing on the numerous trail systems.
The cottage is advantageously situated to enjoy many local ski resorts - Blue Mountain, Georgian Peaks, Alpine, Craigleith, Talisman and Beaver Valley.
Nearby Thornbury, Meaford and Collingwood offer full services and lots of things (and in fact, too many things!!) to do – golfing at several major championship courses (Lora Bay Raven Golf Course, the Georgian Bay Club, and Monterra), antiquing, river and lake fishing, Collingwood’s “Elvis” Festival, Meaford’s Georgian Bay theatre at the historic Opera House, international film festival and Apple Harvest Festival, wine tours at Coffin Ridge Winery, trapeze rides and the Scenic Caves at Blue Mountain, canoeing with Free Spirit Tours on the Beaver River, and the list goes on..... And of course, good dining and shopping.
Georgian Bay is delightful for swimming, with wonderfully clean water. The cottage has a stony beach, great for fossil hunting. What better place to view the brilliant sunrises and sunsets, and end the day toasting marshmallows over a beach campfire, and listening for the loons.
Nearby (10 cottages away) is the Christie Beach Conservation Authority with a very shallow sandy beach and playground, perfect for an afternoon outing.
Our location is easily accessible by a major highway (Hwy 400) or along numerous back road routes (Airport Road, Hwys 10 and 50) if you want to avoid the weekend or holiday traffic.

We stayed at the Loons over Christmas with our family - and it was a perfect getaway and chance for us to get together in a spectacular location! We did not want to leave! This beautiful cottage is extremely well maintained, with so many lovely and thoughtful touches - a real treat to stay here. The views, easy access to the bay and beach were fun - even in the winter. Good amount of space and great layout for entertaining and enjoying yummy meals (loved the kitchen!), books, and games by the unique hanging fire place. Owner was great to deal with and everything went super smoothly. We hope to return - perhaps in the summer or again in the winter. Awesome spot, thanks so much for sharing.

My family and I greatly enjoyed our week at the Loons. The description of the location and the cottage was spot on. The photos were accurate but did not convey the warmth and welcoming feeling of the cottage. The little beach down the road was excellent for our grandchildren. This cottage is extremely clean and looks brand new. I would recommend the cottage for the looks, size and location. As mentioned, the location was excellent. There's a splash pad in Meaford, the Village at Blue Mountain and Collingwood is just a short drive away. We had a great breakfast at Eggciting in Meaford. All in all, we had a great time and are considering returning next year.

An absolutely stunning cottage on the water!!! More beautiful then the actual pictures. Everything listed was true to the word in the description. Extremely well done and maintained. All the renovations made to this cottage are of high quality and standards. I would truly recommend this cottage to any one who has a small or large family or even for a romantic getaway. Sue, the property owner was awsome in staying in contact through the whole process. My family and I had a great time and enjoyed the piece and quite. All amenities were provided and staying at The Loons was truly a home away from home. I will absolutely stay there again with my family in the near future. Thanks for a great time!!!
