Sugar Mountain is great for snowboarders (and skiers of course). They blow snow all season long, and there is always snow there--no matter what the forcast is anywhere in north carolina, there is snow at sugar mountain slopes.
It is a perfect for young families who want to teach their children to ski or snowboard. there are all types of levels of trails and its just big enough to enjoy for a week, yet small enough that you dont get lost.
The North Carolina mountains are a favorite vacation destination for all seasons--winter, spring, summer or fall. The ski mountains of western North Carolina are the finest in the region. The North Carolina Moutains have some of the finest hiking in the country. Linville Caves are a favorite destination. SugarMountain, BeechMountain and Hawks Rise have challenging skiing and snowboarding for all skill levels. We are located on near the top of Little Sugar Mountain. While this is not a "ski-in /ski-out" house, it is only 4 minutes drive to Sugar Mountain Ski area. You can also take the free mountain shuttle brings you directly to the ski area and runs every hour. There is an inner-tube run for non-skiers or those with young children. There are several advantages to being located a few minutes away from the slopes: many people that stay "on the slopes" or in a "ski-in/ski-out" condo or home say the constant ski traffic of cars is bothersome and the loud whine from the snow-blowing machines which are running 24hours per day can affect sleep.
Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain is not only the best for winter snow skiing, it makes a great vacation year round. In the spring, early season the buds are bursting. Summer in the North Carolina Mountains is perfect for hiking, swimming and boating. Autumn may be the most picturesque season. Go no further than your balcony to see the mountains leaves painted with blazing red, orange and yellow. Winter again and time for another ski season. Forget the beach. Banner Elk Sugar Mountain region of the North Carolina Mountains is one of the best and easiest places for a great family vacation, in spring, summer, fall or winter. We chose Banner Elk Sugar Mountain because it is so easy a drive from our house and there is so much the area offers. Sugar Mountain is a great place to snowboard. The trails are wide and challenging, snowcover is great from the snow blowers and they have snow all season.
Why the Owner Chose Sugar Mountain
The idea that it is only for skiing or winter holiday vacation should be dismissed because the true beauty of the area comes in spring, summer and fall/autumn. There is no place else in North Carolina where the leave changes are more beautiful. That said, Sugar Mountain ski area always has snow in the winter season from late December through Mid-March because of their huge snow-making machines and system. It is an easy drive from most locations on the east coast, and certainly the best skiing in the south.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Privacy and quiet, while only 4 minutes to the ski slopes or town. The view is long-range and there are no houses on 3 sides, affording guests a relaxing experience. Minimal traffic and much quieter on our road compared to homes located on the slopes.
