We found the property just as described, and had a wonderful vacation with our family. The condo was immaculately clean and ready, and Janet is a pleasure to deal with. We enjoyed the pool and fishing from the dock... make sure to check out "The Island Company" for some good seafood... its within walking distance. The view of the water is beautiful... we observed dolphin and a sea turtle swimming out in front of the condo. Its a wonderful place. We would love to return.

We rented Janet's beautiful condo for 2 weeks in March. The view and sunsets were gorgeous. The pictures on this site are accurate; the condo is roomy for 4-6 people with very comfortable furniture and beds. The 2 1/2 bathrooms are clean and modern with plenty of storage. The kitchen is fully equipped and easy to use. The washer and dryer are so handy! Janet was quick to get back to me via email and phone whenever we had questions and was very pleasant and personable. The location of the condo is very convenient: stores, restaurants, activities, beaches and parks all near by. The shared pool is beautiful and was never crowded. If only we could have controlled the weather!!! Warm and mostly sunny but oh, so windy! Condo location was wonderful with access to beautiful parks, beaches, bike paths and pier for fishing. Wind limited some anticipated activities but we still found plenty to do and had a great place to return to. Condo was nicely set up, beautifully furnished, well equipped and very clean. So many restaurants we wanted to try that it made it difficult to eat in, though we did cook and enjoy one meal of our own freshly caught fish! Very "doable" day trip to Key West, stopping for pizza at "No Name Pub" on return trip. Great place to stay! Thanks, Janet, for sharing it with us!

This was out first time using VRBO to rent a vacation condo and I was very pleased. Janet is an excellent host and her condo is a great place to vacation. Marathon itself is a great location for exploring the keys and relaxing. The views and the condo itself are exactly as shown in the pictures. It's well maintained and comfortable. We split out time between eating out and cooking in. The kitchen had everything we needed (except the food of course). Overall we had an excellent time and I'd definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a great vacation. Pros: Great views Quiet location Well maintained condo with everything you need Centrally located in the Keys Cons: The beds are harder then we like. Not bad quality but definitely firm. Note: The first time you arrive at the condo it can be a bit difficult to find. We arrived in the late evening and even with the GPS telling us we had arrived we missed the driveway. Look for the Keys Federal Credit Union and the driveway is IMMEDIATELY after that.

Marathon vacation rental

This was my first experience with a vacation rental and I could not have been more satisfied. The unit itself was just as described, if not better, and had every amenity you could possibly need. The owner was gracious and on top of everything, excellent communication. The location is ideal as it is one hour from Key West and one hour from Key Largo offering a centralized location for all Keys activities. I fished with the kids off the dock and by the end of the stay had all the kids from the other units fishing with us. The fishing was great, we even grilled some of our catch. Thanks Big Time Bait and Tackle for the supplies and advice. I had my mother-in-law down for the first time in Florida and after continuing on to an Orlando resort all she could talk about was how great the Marathon condo was. Thanks Janet, and see you next year!

We spent a wonderful week at this condo. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our time there. Everything about this listing is completely accurate and then some! Having never used a "by owner" site, we were very concerned ,but were relieved after the first phone conversation with the owner, Janet. All transactions were simple and any questions we had were answered in a very timely manner. Truly, one of the cleanest destination rentals we have ever stayed in!! The first morning we woke up and went on the porch to drink coffee- we saw a beautiful,complete rainbow- just stunning views!!! We loved the entire island of Marathon. We rented a car from Key West airport and drove up to condo. A very easy drive. There is no sign for Gulfpointe on the road so be careful to look for the entrance sitting back a bit. We always looked for the American flag at the bank as our landmark. No problem. We also rented a boat with Fish and Fun rentals.- Would not recommend them- we had some trouble with the boat and the refund.(only negative point about our whole trip) There are great places to eat that have already been mentioned in other reviews- all of which are very good!! The atmosphere was laid back anywhere we went. The kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were stocked with everything you would need. The dock box had chairs, fishing poles, and toys for small children to use on the beach. - We felt like we had just gone to a "friends" house. We would absolutely recommend this condo and if we are down that way again- we will choose this location without hesitation! Thank you again, Janet for allowing us to be you guest!!!!

Paradise Found

Our stay at Janet's condo was truly a vacation in paradise. The condo lacked for nothing. It is beautifully decorated and well maintained. My husband fished off the dock and caught many fish on both spinning and fly rod. We both enjoyed sitting on the lower balcony just a few feet from the Gulf of Mexico waters, watching the boats travel the Vaca Cut. Janet was very accommodating for our schedule and it was a pleasure to rent from her. This was our second vacation in Marathon and we look forward to a return visit. The Island Fish Co. is within walking distance, as well as Catch 53. Also, Keys Fisheries and the Sunset Grille are worth a visit. Sombrero Beach is my favorite little beach, and don't miss Bahia Honda State Park and the 7 Mile Bridge.

Wonderful apartment in a great and quiet location on the outskirts of Marathon in the heart of the Keys. Marathon has all the amenities you need in easy reach by car and this was the perfect base for our family (2+2) to explore . Well-equipped modern apartment on 2 levels with all mod cons and nice, spacious furnished rooms. Great fishing right off the dock too! Owner and neighbours really friendly and helpful too in pointing out the best local places to eat! Title says "short and sweet" which sums up our stay and feelings and this review: we doubt we could've picked a better place to stay than this if we'd tried!

We just stayed at this condo last week for 7 days. There were 4 of us, plenty of room in this condo. Very clean, great kitchen area with everything you need to fix meals. So convenient to have the washer/dryer (along with detergent!) right there to wash clothes. Terrific view of the ocean out the back patio and beautiful breezes. Overlooks dock that looks brand new. Pool was heated as promised and very clean, good size, and refreshing after a long day at the beach. Complex is a mix of owners and renters, all very good quality people and very friendly. Close to Bahia Honda State Park which was our favorite beach to go to. In walking distance of very good restaurants and shopping....including "The Island" restaurant which is a local favorite and has GREAT food. Owner was very nice and easily accessible for any issues (we didn't have any)......and owner also had all updated brochures in the condo for us to look at for area attractions, sea maps, newspapers etc which was very helpful. Also had a book collection if you didn't bring a book you can use one to read on the beach. TV is brand new, big screen and couches are very comfy. King sized bed in master with AMAZING view off master bedroom patio (the best in the complex in my opinion). Tons of closet space and very nice master bath with double vanities and big shower had great water pressure which we loved. Also what was good was the Dockbox, located in the parking area below the condo.....owner had floats for us, fishing poles, sand toys for the kids to use. We were able to store our beach stuff in there. Many times we sat outside on the back patio overlooking the ocean and saw tons of flying fish and dolphins come through the channel. If you walk out to the dock you can fish ....we caught really nice snappers that made for a good meal. Dock looks brand new and very securely built for our boat. Also had hoses and fish cleaning table. Kids snorkeled right off the dock and saw lobsters. Tons of area fishing charters if you want to go out for a couple hours. Condo is in a great location in Marathon, it took us less than an hour to get to Key West one day and it was a nice scenic drive. We plan to reserve at this condo again next season but will stay for 2 weeks instead of 1 as we were truly sad to leave this place, absolutely gorgeous and our family enjoyed it very much.

We had a great time! Every morning I snorkeled while the others slept in. Then, I'd have breakfast and go fish from the dock. That really spoiled me, especially when I landed a 4 ft. Nurse shark the day before we left. The sunsets were beautiful. The property was gorgeous and well maintained. The location was convenient (easy in and out, close to everything in Marathon, and everything in the Keys was within an hour's drive).

This was our first time using home away.com and we are so very pleased with our find! The site was very user friendly, and I will definitely use it again for other parts of the country. Every picture was true to detail, the condo was lovely, well kept, clean and had all the amenities you could ask for. I would highly recommend this condo, the owner Janet, was wonderful and easy to work with, very caring and had good advice on where to go and things to do. We didn't want to come home! We are already looking forward to a 2 week stay next year! (We'll book as soon as we figure out dates!) You definitely need a car, but everything you could want is an easy drive away. The pool was excellent, fishing from the dock was fun, and the view was the best ever! Sunsets were better from the balcony than from some of the restaurants that advertised sunsets! For a most relaxing vacation, and with lots to do this is the place to go. There were lots of brochures on things to do and places to eat. Enjoy! We sure did!

My wife and I stayed following a cruise. The listing description for this condo was the most accurate of any location we have ever visited. A spotless unit, comfortable, well equipped, and in a great location. Any destination in the Keys is easily accessible from Marathon. The visitor center is located just one block south. Sunset Grill, oceanside at the north end of Seven Mile Bridge, overlooks the water, has excellent food, and a view of the sunset. Their coconut shrimp was delicious. Janet was a pleasure to deal with. She has thought of every possible amenity to make staying in this Gulfpointe condo a remarkable experience. Highly recommended!!

There's nothing better than staying at a place where your every desire has been thought of and Janet's condo does this and more.From fishing poles to binoculars she has thought of everything you could want.Central in the keys it's an easy ride to Key West or Key Largo. Within a few miles there are restaurants, groceries and beaches.Sparky's Landing has happy hour 4-6 with .25 cent shrimp cocktails and buffalo wings and their regular menu is great as well. Lazy Days restaurant had the most incredible fish dishes I have ever tasted and the Colony Key Inn had fabulous Italian food (who would have thought?) We had a fabulous time at the condo,which was immaculate, secure and very comfortable. My husband absoutely loved it and we want to return a.s.a.p.!

A gem in Marathon

My wife and I and our 1 year old daughter recently stayed at Janet's condo during the week of 9/4 - 9/11. We had a fantastic week and the condo is exactly as pictured and described. It's well equipped with everything you could think of, including beach chairs, fishing poles, games, dvds, internet and anything you would need in the kitchen. We really appreciated the fact that Janet had a full sized crib available as well as a high chair so we didn't have to bring them along with us. The pool was nice and well maintained and there is a great dock behind the condo where I snorkeled from and saw tons of fish. We really enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets from the balconies and grilling dinner on the gas grill. At night we enjoyed seeing the beautiful sky and some cool lightening storms in the distance. We also loved waking up to the beautiful water views every morning. As for things to do, Sombrero beach is 3 miles away and was a quiet oasis. We also enjoyed Bahia Honda State Park and the 7 mile bridge. Key West is a short one hour drive away and well worth the drive. There were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby and we enjoyed Sparky's landing and Salty's waterfront grill for Happy hour and dinner. Janet was so easy to work with and was prompt with her communication and she answered all of our questions. We would definitely recommend this condo for anyone looking to have a relaxing family vacation in the Keys!

Marathon Condo

My wife and I rented this condo in July 2010 to attend our son's wedding nearby. Lovely apartment, great views. Very comfortable, very clean and a nice quiet area. Enjoyed the amenities indoors as well as just sitting on the two terraces watching the sunsets. Would definitely use this apartment again next time we go to the keys. Convenient to Key West (less than an hours drive) and about two hours drive from Miami airport. Terrific.

Spectacular Vacation Rental

Gorgeous view of the Gulf. Condo was clean and well equipped. Felt like our home away from home. Kids snorkeled right off the pier and saw a huge lobster. In the morning, while drinking coffee on the upper balcony, we were visited by a dolphin - no more than 30 feet from shore. Quick drive to Sombrero beach, groceries, tourist locales and many great dining spots. Janet is a pleasure to work with; great communication and accessibility. Next time we visit the Keys, we'll be staying at Gulfpointe again!

GREAT STAY June 2010

From the git go, this is a great place and a great owner! The condo is to die for, from the views to the open and bright atmosphere inside. Everything you need and more is there and seems brand new. You only need to show up! The pictures on the website are exactly what you see. Close to every thing and if you have a boat or not, you have access to what ever you want to do close at hand or anywhere in the keys. If you do take a boat there is a public ramp about a 1/4 mile from the condo and the dock slips at the condo are very nice. Sparkey's had a fabulous happy hour and Cabana Breezes @ Key Colony was a wonderful place to eat and enjoy the view. Cracked Conch Cafe had the best conch we have ever eaten and we have eaten more than our share.. Key Fisheries was another great place to eat and enjoy the view. Publix, Winn Dixie and K Mart are right down the road. This was a great location for us. It is close to so many activities. We were only about an hour or so away from Key West, Bahia Honda State Park and the seven mile bridge was right down the road. We drove over to Pine Key to see the Key deer as well. Gulfpointe II has a fabulous new dock and the night fishing was a cool thing for our boys to do and they caught fish EVERY night.The best was just relaxing in the pool in the afternoons and on the balcony watching the sunsets each night. The condo was exactly what we were looking for: comfort, relaxed atmosphere, a beautiful place, lots of room that was close to many things to do from boating, fishing, swimming and having drinks and watching the sunset. We look forward to returning next year.

We enjoyed our week stay at Janet Cunninghams's duplex condo, and wish we could have stayed longer. The condo is very clean. with new carpeting upstairs, and tile floors in the kitchen, dining room and large comfortable lliving room. NO musty smells. Very nice bathrooms throughout . Full aray of modern appliances, Very comfortable first class bedding and furniture. Plenty of kitchen and other suppiles in various closets and cabinets.Lovely views and sunsets from 2 large lanais,one witrh a gas bar-b-que..3 cable TV's and easy to use wi-fi.. Janet has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable,,hassle free and relaxing. She is hands on and very helpful. If you are a beach person, it is 10-15 minutes (3 miles) South to Sombrero Beach, the never crowded 300 yards of white sand, and the best swimming beach in middle keys, No surf and claen clear water. It is one mile East of the K'Mart, Publix and Winn Dixie. It is far better bet than Bahia Honda State Park on Duck key over the 7 mile bridge..There is little or no swimming at any of the Key Colony beaches, or for that matter Hawks Key Resort which is in my opinion a "rip off". There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes of the condo.Key Colony Inn has early bird specials to 6:30 PM. and good food. The dock has decent fishing near high tide. Plenty of fishing guides nearby and 2 party boats for 4 hours reef fshing @$50-60$ pp.

Perfect Marathon Key Condo

The photos you viewed will be exactly what you see once you arrive at Gulfpointe. You will not be disappointed. The owner has portrayed the property accurately. She has provided an abundance of linens, towels, pillows, blankets and kitchen items for your comfort. Once you walk in the door you will begin to relax and enjoy the openness of the condo. The property is well maintained and very clean. Janet, the owner, answered all of our questions by phone or email and our final contract was able to be completed by email. She returned our deposit in a timely manner. She definitely wants her guests to enjoy their stay. Key West is only about one hour away by car. If you choose to take an adventure there and are looking for a place to eat, look for Hurricane Hole on the left just before you enter Key West. It is a very casual place to eat. Darts and indoor table top shuffleboard are also there for your enjoyment. Prices are decent and a good choice for families as well as couples or singles. There is a Winn-Dixie and Publix grocery store as well as a K-Mart and Walgreens close to the condo. There is a bike/walking path that runs along the Overseas Highway for those that enjoy biking and walking as a way to relax or explore. One recommended adventure is the old Seven Mile Bridge which has now been partially turned into a pedestrian walkway. It is a two mile walk out to Pigeon Key, you can ride bikes on the old bridge too, and then you can explore Pigeon Key and then enjoy watching the sun set as you leisurely return from Pigeon Key. Round trip is 4 miles. There is a parking lot right before you enter the Seven Mile Bridge. Of course you can enjoy many sunsets off the two balconies at the Gulfpointe property. There is outdoor furniture for your relaxation as well as a Weber grill for your private use. Whether you choose to stay your entire time at the condo or use the condo as a base for taking off on your adventures, you will not be disappointed. We would highly recommend this property for your stay.

Fantastic Keys Vacation

The condo exceeded our expectations; it was clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped. The grounds around the condo were also well maintained and the view was awesome. The owner was very helpful in answering all our questions with quick responses to emails. Fishing from the pier was fantastic; we caught a variety of fish and saw rays, sharks, and sea turtles swim by. Sombrero Beach Park (kayaking and snorkeling), Bahia Honda State Park, the Turtle Rescue Hospital, and Sunset Park (viewing sunset) are all close and well worth visiting. The Keys Fisheries Restaurant and Market is a great place to eat or purchase fresh seafood or Chappy's for a sunset dinner. My family and I agree this is a place we must return to in the future. There was something for everyone; we can't stop talking about our great experience.

Terrific Time!

We spent a week at this condo and had a wonderful time. The condo was very clean with plenty of room for our family of four. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and boats passing by through the Vaca Cut. We even had dolphins swimming past! We enjoyed the pool- usually we were the only ones in it. Centrally located for a trip to Key West (about 1 hour+) and Big Pine Key- we saw 94 deer in 3 visits! Played mini-golf at Boondocks. We rented a boat from Fish & Fun for fishing and then snorkeling at Sombrero Reef. We saw some pretty fish and even a barracuda. Get there before noon to get a mooring. We enjoyed dinner at the Island Restaurant near the condo and the Harbor House at Hawk's Cay. Also, try to stop by Robbie's Marina to feed the tarpon. It's amazing to see such big fish jump and take food from your hand!

Our week in this vacation home was beyond our expectations. Everything was perfect and the home had everything we needed and then some. The condo was immaculate. The location to the pool and the dock are real positives to this rental. We enjoyed the pool every day and were to only ones in it! Janet, the owner, was a gem to work with. We could not believe the vast array of resturants, things to do, and the laid back style of life. Staying in Marathon was a plus because one can easily drive to Key Largo or Key West for day trips. The soothing aspects of the condo were it's peace and quiet, privacy, and a true feeling of tranquility. I have traveled extensively and stayed in many condos and timeshares. This rental was by far one of the best I have experienced. We didn't want to leave! If you are looking for a great place in the Keys, this is it. We will definately be back and wouldn't think of staying anywhere but Janet's at Gulfpointe! Thanks for the memories, Janet!

Great Vacation Getaway !!

The condo unit was very clean when we arrived and very well stocked with supplies. The only thing needed to purchase was our food. the location was beautiful. Great sunsets every day. Kids spent hours on the dock fishing and we could watch them from the balcony. Everyday was a new adventure for them with everything they saw in the water, it was like our own private aquarium. Condo is centrally located in the Keys, equal distance to travel to Key Largo or Key West. Many places to rent fishing boats or do fishing trips. Sea Dog Charters was reasonably priced and we caught fish! Snorkeling could be done right from the condo dock or there are many beautiful places to pull off on the side of the road and snorkel and swim and several state parks also. The parks do charge an admission fee though. This is a beautiful setting and really lovely condo. I would highly recommend it and hope we can return in the future. This is greast place to do as little or as much as you want!

We were tired and irritable after a long drive from Orlando with three young children, however our spirits were lifted as soon as we walked in. This condo is beautiful - spacious, clean, bright and airy with everything you could possibly need. The view is spectacular, with wraparound balconies on the living room and main bedroom - we slept with the blinds in the master bedroom open so that I could see the view as soon as I woke up! The kids loved the swimming pool and spent many hours in it and made friends with a couple of the other condo owners. We did have a couple of problems (unexpected building work and the washing machine broke down) but Janet was extremely helpful and all sorted out straight away. Our favourite activities were snorkelling, fishing and trips to Key West and Bahia Honda beach. The only thing we didn't like was having to go home! This was our third trip to Florida and we have travelled extensively in Europe and North Africa, but I can honestly say this was the probably the nicest accommodation we have ever stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone - the pictures don't do it justice! We will definitely return! Thank you Janet for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Blue Water

We come to the Keys once a year. We love to stay in a place that reminds us of our home. You will not be disappointed with this vacation rental. Beautiful open water view right when you open the door. You feel like you could just jump in.Plenty of space to live in with all amenities to make you feel at home. Excellent layout with the bedrooms upstairs, separate bathrooms, and a beautiful Master bedroom balcony.The property is very beautiful and well maintained landscape. The parking is excellent with room honestly for our car, truck and a 17'boat trailer that fit underneath the condo. The property management is very close by for any concerns. This place was also very clean and very secure Townhome community. Last but not least it was a pleasure dealing with the owner. We stayed during the Christmas and New Year week and our cost was very fair and reasonable. Deposits were sent back an a very timely manner. We will stay again for our next vacation at the blue water place.

Marathon Condo Rental

My husband & I visited the Florida Keys for the second time and chose to stay in Marathon. The unit we rented was in very good condition and seemed to be well maintained. The views were terrific, the unit was very quiet, and we could hear the water hitting the shore from our windows (great to fall asleep to). The owner was very helpful in making the rental process easy and giving us lots of ideas on what to do and where to go to make the best of our vacation.

First visit to the Florida Keys

While the Florida Keys turned out to be more beautiful than I had imagtined, so were our accomodation better than I had hoped. We arrived late on Saturday and the keys to our unit were waiting for us exactly where we were told they would be (unlike other trips we've been on). Upon entering the unit, we were greeted with amazing views of the water and were there just in time to watch a beautiful sunset from the lounge chairs on the upper balcony. The unit has two balconies with lounge chairs off the master bedroom and a table with chairs off the main living area one floor below. This was especially nice because while the unit was pleasantly decorated and the furniture & fixtures seemed new, the weather was so nice we just wanted to spend it outside. Relaxing on balconies where you can walk back into the unit is a real plus. Driving in this area is also very easy as there is just one main road and everything is usually referenced by "Mile Markers". There was pleanty of food nearby (including some terrific seafood) and also access to larger stores like Wallgreens, Home Depot, etc. Key West is only about 1.25 hours away so we drove in for a day trip that ended up being an extra treat because we had dinner & listened to music at the famous "Sloppy Joe's" and then watched another beautiful sunset off a well known pier there. The unit owner (Janet) was great about having everything ready for our stay and she was really helpfull with giving us ideas about where to go to eat, rent kyacks, day trips, etc. & she also had Internet access in the unit which enabled us to bring a laptop so we could "stay in touch". Overall, a great first introduction to the Keys and a great place to stay. We hope to be returning guests in the future! Gino New York City

We spent a week in this clean, tastefully furnished and well-kept condo overlooking the Gulf waters. The condo is ideally located in Marathon, it is modern and lacks nothing -at least, we certainly did not miss anything! We were slightly unlucky with the weather, but nevertheless took nearly all our meals on the balcony watching the birds, the fish...and a few boats. A delightlful place!

We all said wow when we opened the door to our vacation spot. The owner and Centery21 were extremly nice. Everthing was close by and easy to find. The docking facilities were outstanding. Our stay at Gulfpointe 2 in May 2008 was nothing more than spectacular! The weather was perfect. The sunsets and the condo were more than perfect. The condo was emaculate, very spacious and very well equipped. We actually brought more than what was needed! The views from the balcony were wonderful, manatee, dolphins, sting ray and parrot fish. Janet was very courteous, responsive, and personable. We would recommend this vacation site to anyone staying in Marathon. The location in the keys gives you perfect access to all the other keys. Snorkeling the blue waters and the reef were amazing! Was by far our best vacation to date!
