This is an oceanfront home with a sweeping view of the Caribbean side of Eleuthera, built in 2009. We have taken extra attention to upgrades and amenities that set our home apart from others. It is our family's vacation home and we have equipped it to be bright, cheery and comfortable! Each bedroom has a 36' flat screen TV with DVD player and the 47' screen in the family room has Nintendo Wii with DVD player. A 12x19 screened-in porch faces the water for incredible sunsets! The kitchen has upgraded appliances and there are individual air conditioners throughout the house. All furnishings are colorfully done in a manner befitting this splendid Bahamas home on the water.
For your enjoyment, we have created a new beach and boat launch ramp. Also, there are two clear bottom kayaks and numerous snorkel sets that are sized for all members of the family. Recently, we added two decks on the water's edge; one covered and one uncovered. The water can be accessed by a ladder off the uncovered deck for superb snorkeling! A Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer and a Toyota 4x4 pickup truck are our personal vehicles and available for rent. The rental rates on these cars are better than most rates on the island and you will have the satisfaction of getting vehicles that are maintained as our own. We welcome you and look forward to having you share our dream home in the Caribbean, Savannah Sunset!

From the airport pick-up to the must-read house manual (though it’s really more of a manual for the entire island), no detail has gone unnoticed in this Bahamian abode. And you know what that means— more time to explore, relax and have fun! Now, I’m an adventurous bear, but traveling to a place off the beaten path like Eleuthera is absolutely exhilarating no matter how often you travel.
I arrived on the island on a cloudy day but stepping inside this house immediately lifted my spirits. The decoration and colors were the most cheerful of any beach house I’ve ever been in. As I was taking it all in, I realized that the cubs were missing. Where did they go?! I could hear their voices but they were nowhere to be found… Of course, I should have known— they were immediately distracted by the immense DVD selection and Wii system downstairs. They had already settled into making themselves right at home by the time I made it downstairs.
The next day we awoke to perfect weather and a chance to explore all the island had to offer. We drove to Harbour Island, rented golf carts, and saw the famous pink sands. After a snack and a brief paws on some lawn chairs we found, we took in the sights at the Glass Window Bridge. The rest of the days in Eleuthera were spent fishing, snorkeling and meeting the locals.
After returning home, we realized there was one thing we especially missed about Savannah Sunset—the Nature’s Sleep mattresses. Not too hard, not too soft, but just right. Just like our trip to Eleuthera! Thanks to Don, Trish, Peter and the rest of the gang for an incredibly memorable vacation.

Before we even arrived to Savannah Sunset we were treated spectacular. We wanted a beach vacation that was different, one that offered pure beaches, non-commercial flare and excellent accommodations. Sometimes when you crave quiet & remote you can get rough facilities. Not so with this home! Ss was ammmaazing. It's like an adult size dollhouse. The home is built so well, the woodwork, colors and accessories are excellent- so very homey, I felt like we were living in an issue of Pottery Barn magazine. There are kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs and our 13 year old loved and appreciated the boogie board. One of our favorite spots was the second floor screened in porch. We read, laughed, talked and enjoyed our time so much in that space. The kitchen is so well stocked. We have rented homes for vacations in the past and this kitchen was Number #1 best for appliances. We were under 10 minutes from one of the best beaches we have ever experienced, Ten Bay. One day we were surrounded by so many alive sand dollars we had to be careful where we stepped! Don & Trish really have created a home- not just a rental. We hope to return, this time with at least 2 more people! There were 4 of us- we think 2 more people would be lovely! Here are things I will know when I return: *I will pack lighter- no need to dress up anywhere on Eleuthera. *We will budget more for groceries. We only ate out 3 times (once from a "take away") & the kitchen is so nice I will buy more groceries for our stay next time. Plan on groceries being more expensive than the states because everything is imported. But what you spend on groceries you save on buying "touristy stuff." *I will know there is a super amount of books & movies at SS, I read 3 of their books. *I will be prepared for the "backroad terrain" getting to the house & beaches. Having the 4x4 was such a plus. Really, I can't write enough positive about this home & our experience! It was perfect.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We arrived for a family trip in August 2011 and Savannah Sunset Beach House was the most beautiful home we have ever stayed in! I am just now able to write about this incredible experience as you will read. Don and Trish and this island have a special place in this family's heart. Absolutely everything you need is there and more including all you needs for your water activities and fun at the beach. It is a beautifully decorated home in the best of taste and exceptionally comfortable. You will walk from room to room and marvel at how lovely it is! The island is fabulous, and you will fall in love with it and its people. The owners of this home are so wonderful and helpful with all of your needs from helping with flights to answering questions once you arrive. Our special experience was we were actually there during Hurricane Irene and decided to stay and ride it out. Don and Trish were so helpful and concerned in helping us prepare for the storm and all our emergency preparations. The house is so well built that it came through with minimal damage which has now been repaired and is better than ever. Peter was there to check on us before the storm had even ended. Savannah Sunset house served us well during perfect weather and through the worst weather!! We love this home and its owners!!! You will not find a better place to stay during your vacation on Eleuthera than this lovely property. We will be returning soon. Warmly, Patty and Neil Lucht and Family Stayed August 2011Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

This vacation rental was awesome! It is waterfront on the Caribbean side with every amenity you can imagine - shaded deck with palapa, glass bottomed kayaks, paddle board, snorkeling equipment, floaties, and that's outside. Inside, in addition to gorgeous decorating, cuisinart and other high end appliances and dishes, it had a fantastic reading library and dvd movie library with first run choices. It was also great to have satellite tv's in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and downstairs family room where all of us could watch our favorite shows after family game nights. I miss the very comfortable king size beds! My sister and I loved sitting on the screened in oceanfront porch with cushioned wicker furniture reading books and enjoying the aquamarine and indigo water. Some days the water was calm and still and our kids and I kayaked out to the island. When the winds made it choppy, we took the rental car that comes with the place and drove a mile to the Atlantic side where it was smooth. Don and Trish are very helpful and the caretakers Peter and Virginia are wonderful and informative. They both had excellent tips on beaches, restaurants, and things to do. Peter picked us up at the airport, delivered a wonderful dinner made by his wife Beryl to us that evening. Virginia kept everything spotless at the house. We were able to leave the rental car at the airport on our way home. This place is above and beyond and the locals on Eleuthera were so kind and friendly. I looked extensively at all the vacation rentals on Eleuthera and this one had the most amenities, the best view, and they catered to everything we needed!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

We stayed at Savannah Sunset last year. We returned this year for a one of a kind "Luthra" Wedding. Steve and I came back to Savannah Sunset this year to get married on the Deck! Don was honored and thrilled to have the first wedding at his house. Beryl was promptly e-mailed by Don to be our personal wedding planner! A few emails later she knew what we wanted, which was a simple no fuss Bahamian style celebration. Without going into full detail we had a small festive Junkanoo wedding with the Carey family under the cabana! Although our family couldn't be there our Bahamian family was! Many thanks to Beryl, her kids Vanessa, Luca & Jonathon, Peter, Barbie & Virginia and members of the Junkanoo. This house was the perfect location for a beautiful, casual wedding. When we wrote our review from May 2011 we never imagined it could be better but it was. The familiarity of the house was like coming home, so comfortable. Everything was where I remembered it would be even in the kitchen which is nearly impossible at home! The beds are amazing. This house is so well appointed it leaves you wanting for nothing. Last year my 24 yr old daughter sketched a picture of Savannah Sunset with color pencils, I put it on the fridge with magnets and was very touched when I came back this year to find it was were I had left it! Just like home. Don and Trish are very kind and wonderful people. The sunsets were majestic and the water was warm. We explored about 18 beaches we didn't get to last year, we love Lighthouse beach, Cotton Bay, North side beach south for shelling(I found a 10" King helmet) in perfect condition. We stopped for lunch at Pascals in Rock Sound and recommend it for the food & the view from the deck. Friday night fish fry was a good time. We were there during Election week and got quite an education! But the most interesting experience was meeting Billy and George the conch fishermen on our way to Cape Eleuthera. I spotted them about 300 yards out so I waved they returned a very friendly wave. Before I know it they pulled their little boat to the beach to give us conch shells & Atlantic trident trumpets but the best part of this experience was listening to them talk as they showed us how to cut the conch out of the shell with an small axe! Billy pulled up to a rock on the beach to crack the conch for us...priceless! Please if you come to Eleuthera don't miss the chance to meet and know the Beautiful people of this wonderful island. Thank you Don & TrishRecommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

I had read all of the other reviews several times over, and must admit that I had pretty high expectations for Savannah Sunset. Bottom line - my already lofty expectations were definitely exceeded. All of the big things - location, appearance, comfort, cleanliness, furnishings and maintenance are exactly as they appear in the photos - actually, they're even better than they look. But what really blew me away about this home were all of the little things that you really don't plan on having in most vacation rentals: Kitchen - we love to cook, and this kitchen is completely decked out with everything that we could want over the course of the week. High quality cookware (very rare in a rental), appliances, every cooking utensil you could want (even decent knives) and great dishes/glassware. When commenting on how well equipped the kitchen was, my wife remarked "Better than ours at home" You can tell that Don and Trish know how to entertain. Quality furnishings, beds, linens and tons of great beach towels A fantastic collection of DVDs and Wii games, great TVs and pretty good internet reliability Lots of snorkels/fins/toys/glass-bottomed kayaks/life jackets Air conditioners and fans in each room that actually work exactly as they are supposed to work The list goes on, and what really makes it amazing is that you have all of these comforts and amenities in a house on a secluded, beautiful bay in the middle of nowhere. Perfect. Last, but not least, the owners and their staff were a pleasure to work with and extremely responsive and helpful with everything from travel logistics to restaurant and activity recommendations. Caretaker Peter is a wealth of knowledge and just an all around nice guy. Looking forward to heading back, kicking back and mixing up some more "Savannah Sunsets" (3 parts dark rum, 1 part pineapple juice, 1 part orange juice, a shot of cream of coconut - shake well with ice - pour into serving glass and add a few drops of grenadine)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: WOW! We are astonished and humbled by Paul's stellar review of Savannah Sunset, not to mention HONORED to have a drink named after the house! Thanks so much, to you, Paul and all of your family! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Savannah Sunset! Don & Trisha

Don, We regret that we didn't stay at Savannah Sunset this holiday. Can we just tell you that your place is so wonderful? We opted to stay on Windermere Island this time. The beach was fantastic but all else was a failure. We had a heck of a time trying to get a decent rental car, no toilet paper or soap for the first 3 days of our stay, and no coolers, water, snorkel gear, kayaks, tote bags etc. We can't tell you how much we enjoyed your home and wanted you to know this. You have taken utmost consideration to make your guests completely equipped with everything they would ever need on a Bahamas vacation. We thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to know what it should really be like. Hope your Christmas was jolly and bright. Happy New Year to you and your family,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As a mom of two very busy young boys, it is rare for me to have any free time. However, this house had so much for my kids to do that I actually had time to hold a cocktail in my hand. There were Matchbox cars, bath toys, movies, art supplies, video games, puzzles and sand toys. It is rare to find a rental so well stocked. It is those little things that made all the difference for me. We took the boys to different beaches around the island. Each one was amazing. Then when we got back the kids were completely entertained and I could relax in this beautiful home. My 6 year old explorer loved all of the tide pools around the house. My 3 year old is already asking when we are going again. We will definitely be coming back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

First, I "ditto" all previous reviews. I was in Eleuthera at Savannah Sunset for the month of July and was at peace with Mother Nature the full 28 days. The house location is ideal in the center of the island and a haven with all one would ever need in and around the house. I had two family groups that visited at different times and their responses were always "wonderful home, location, scenery and beaches." One group swam with wild dolphins on two separate days and the second group swam with sea turtles on two separate days. Eleuthera and Savannah Sunset are the ideal island and home for a wonderful respite with such cordial people both the islanders and homeowners. We attended the Fish Fry in Governor's Harbor every Friday and dined at several wonderful diners, some quirky and some right on the water. The central location provided the opportunity to visit nearly all the beaches on both coasts and be back home for supper. Our favorites were Ten Bay Beach, Twin Cove Beach and Lighthouse Beach...unspoiled and wonderful snorkling, shell and sanddollar collecting and enjoying the blue-green crystal clear water. The two kayaks at the house were well used and the snorkling was great along the shore and the small island within 5 minutes via kayak. Don and Trish, From all of my family and me, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.

Our week’s stay at Savannah Sunset house provided the most un-forgettable vacation that we have experienced! The first week in June is normally our vacation week and we generally take a Caribbean cruise but this was sooooo much better. We had a family group of 6, ranging in age from 33 to 83. Everyone felt that this was over the top! Our hosts, Don & Trish, the superbly appointed house, Peter and staff, the setting, the service and attention – we wanted for nothing and we were totally blown-away with what was offered. Eleuthera and more specifically, Savannah Sunset house, is an oasis of peace and calm that you do not want to miss. The nearby beaches were beautiful and we generally had them all to ourselves. We enjoyed driving the vehicles provided, exploring the side roads that led to beaches and bays, looking for get-away spots, bonefishing, sightseeing, etc. But most of the time we were drawn back to Savannah Sunset House. Swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, sunning, relaxing - it can’t get any better. The beds are to die for – most restful sleep we’ve had in some time. This get-away is better than anything you have ever experienced! The new chef at 4-Points is excellent; Tippy’s Suprise drinks are to be taken with caution, Mate and Jenny’s pizza at the end of the week hit the spot and the local meals provided by Barbie and Virginia (BBQ-Chicken the first night and grilled grouper mid-week) were superb.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Exceptional home and vacation! Don responded to our e-mails with ease and sometimes in minutes and was crucial to finding our flight information. Savannah Sunset is the most equipped vacation home with nothing to want for, Don and Trish thought of every need for a pleasant stay. The photographs of the home do not show the true splendor of this beautifully decorated home. The kitchen has every gadget imaginable. The furniture is comfortable and the beds...well let me say the best I have slept on away from home! Even a trip to the beach was considered by supplying beach towels and thermal bags for drinks. The last night of our stay we had an amazing lightning storm that was enjoyed from the porch and that was when I realized the doors to the porch slid all the way open! The location of the home is one I will never forget, I close my eyes to remember every detail of the walk down to the Caribbean and it brings me pure happiness. We did see the resident nurse shark and many beautiful fish even a lionfish from which we kept our distance. Close to ten bay aka sand dollar beach we spent most of our beach time there mostly alone. Read the Elusive Beaches book before venturing out since some beaches are not accessible without 4x4. Harbour Island and the pink sand beach is a day trip worth taking. We rented a golfcart that allowed us to explore. We ate at Tippy's with a party of 7 and we did not have a single complaint every dish was delicious and the service was very good. Too many things to mention but we did almost everything reccomended. Friday night fish fry is a must and please check out the local hand weaved art, Preachers cave, Savannah Sound beach...etc. Peter and the staff are very friendly and helpful, we ate at Barbie's(Peter's wifes restaurant) I recommend you do the same, the snapper and potato salad is excellent. Most of all was the house and deck we loved just hanging out to enjoy the water and eachother. We are a blended family of two 21 yr old twins girls, 24 yr old son and 24 yr old daughter and my daughters 26 yr old friend, this was a vaction of a lifetime for them they loved everything this island had to offer. The cabana on the water was a perfect place to end our vaction by having a farewell party with frozen drinks, snacks , white string lights and the sounds of the island. Savannah Sunset is never far from our thoughts and hearts, I highly recommend this as your next adventure and we will most likely return to this lovely home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
