Location: Bakersville, Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA (4 Miles NE of Bakersville)

Accommodations:  Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1.5+ Baths (Sleeps 4)

Cozy, comfortable cabin located in the Hawk community 4 miles NE of Bakersville, N C.

This property was originally owned by James and Beatrice Dellinger. Here they raised 4 children; Charlie, Jerry, David, and Sue. The boys slept in the top of the cabin with no heat. The bottom was used to store potatoes, canned goods, and other staples for the family. The shed on the property was part of the original house. It was moved to it's location to make way for a mobile home that was attached to the house. The home was destroyed by fire several years ago. The little cabin has changed hands a few times since then. I purchased the cabin in February 2008. A kitchen and bath were added full remodeling was completed in August 2009. There is a photo album of the process in the cabin.

The master BR has a double bed and full bath on the ground floor. The master connects to the rest of the house by the outside stairs only.

The second floor is the living area with a full kitchen, den, and 1/2 bath. The pull down staircase is the entrance to the loft with 2 twin beds. The staircase is easy to operate and is very safe.

The southern exposure lends itself to beautiful sunrises and a year round view of Cane Creek mountain. Cane creek is always present as you hear it flowing year round. It is stocked with trout and can be fished 11 of 12 months. Many other rivers and streams are just a short drive.

The screen porch provides protection from bugs as well as a place to unwind from a day of exploring these beautiful mountains.

Wildlife is abundant. It's not uncommon to see deer stroll trough the yard. Hawks are very common. All in all, it is a very nice mountain setting. My hope is you enjoy your stay as much as I enjoy it as a second home.

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2008

I am a N. C. native. I finished my formal education at Appalahian State University. This is my first vacation rental, although I have had rental property before. I live and work a couple of hours away.

Why the Owner Chose Bakersville

I own other property in this area with partners. We were looking for a place of our own to stay. We all have children (young men and women) who enjoy this area. Bakersville is a charming little town with wonderful citizens.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

I enjoyed working on the project. I also enjoy hiking, fourwheeling, going to the farmers market. I enjoy playing golf at Grassy Creek golf club in Spruce Pine. I never tire of looking at these mountains.

    • My family and I spent a wonderful weekend at the cabin and enjoy walking and driving around Bakersville, Spruce Pine and all the way along the Blue Ridge Parkway.The cabin is small but very cozy.
