We highly recommend the Sea Thistle! Everything at the cabin is exactly like the description and the photos. The home/property was very clean, and very well maintained. The kitchen is just beautiful! As well as the bedrooms and bathrooms. Large and clean! Every space inside and outside the cabin is gorgeous. The views are breathtaking, we could not get enough of the ocean and sunsets. The owners were so easy to talk to, and answered every question we had. The Skunk Train, horseback riding on the beach, and kayaking were some of the activities I would recommend. I can't say enough good things about the cabin. It is most certainly a "5 star" home! We loved it!!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a lovely, lovely home - we were very happy with our experience there. AND, it is unbelievably convenient to Ft. Bragg and Mendocino!! The home was built with care, quality materials, upscale furnishings and very nice ammenities. We loved that it was extremely clean and well cared for. Very, very comfortable. My husband and sons are abalone divers and we know this coast well... this is a very special spot on the Northern California coast and it was a real treat to stay there. The guys dove in the cove right there below the home, and though it was a very rocky and slippery entrance, they got their limits with some nice abs. The owners are very organized and it was easy and efficient handling the rental with them. We would rent this home again, and plan on it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The north coast of California is a unique and special place to experience the wonder of the ocean. Sea Thistle offers the opportunity to see, experience and explore the coast line in your own private cove. Watching the waves, tidal pools, birds and wind blown tree line is experiencing nature at its best. The cove brings a lot of wave action, but for qualified free divers there are abalone for harvesting. The comfort and quality of the beautifully appointed home caps all of this off. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the needs to prepare gourmet dinners and enjoy friends and family. The home maintainence staff had the home in top shape and it was immaculent in all regards. For all that we received it was an excellent and fairly priced rental.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My extended family and I ( 8 people total) rented Sea Thistle for 4 nights in April. The house is truly amazing. While the pictures on VRBO of the house are great, the house in person is even better. The description of the house and surrounding area on VRBO is very accurate. Upon our arrival at Sea Thistle, we found the cabin to be very clean and well kept. The kitchen had all the necessary supplies (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, coffe maker, tea kettle etc.) to cook meals in. We ate several meals in the house as we didn't want to leave the peaceful, cozy cabin. The house's huge floor to ceiling windows provide you with dramatic views of the bluffs and ocean. We loved the sunroom on the first floor and several family members curled up there with a book. Another favorite room was the tower room on the second floor where you could sit in cozy recliners and enjoy the amazing view or look out at the ocean using the telescope. There were also several window seats upstairs that were quite inviting. There are many DVD's, books, and games in the house. We especially enjoyed reading the books written about the surrounding area and the movies filmed there. My two teenagers enjoyed the selection of available games, and convinced almost the whole family to play many of them. While the cabin is amazing, the grounds surrounding the house are spectacular too. The cozy outside eating area, the rope swing, the seesaw, the bench, and the chairs overlooking the bluff all invite you to come outdoors to enjoy the remarkable view. We even ventured down the steps to explore the rocky beach below the house. The owners were very helpful throughout the entire rental process. From our first inquiry about the property, to the quick response with any questions we had, the owners helped to make this rental transaction very easy. They even contacted us after we returned home to make sure we had a good stay. During our vacation we enjoyed the nearby Mendocino Botanical Gardens, MacKerricker Beach, the town of Mendocino, and Big River Beach. Our favorite resturants were Cliff House, Cap'n Flints, Mendocino Cafe, and Eggheads. The ice cream at Cowlicks is the best! We can not say enough positive things about Sea Thistle. We had a great family vacation there and brought home many happy memories. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a house in the Fort Bragg area and hope to return to Sea Thistle ourselves very soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our group of 6 stayed at Sea Thistle the third week of Feb., 2012. From the time that we started making the reservation, the process was well organized and the owners were very responsive to any questions we had or information that we needed. The pics of the house looked great, so we had high expectations, We were not disappointed. The house is beautiful, adjacent to the coastline. It has many windows on the coastal side to view the ocean, and a fireplace that warmed the house just enough. The kitchen had everything that we needed and more. We cooked about half of our meals there. It was very nice to prepare meals in such a well equipped kitchen. We did day trips that included seeing the coastal redwoods(wow!), going to Mendocino, seeing the Cabrillo lighthouse. We enjoyed eating at several good local restaurants: Los Gallitos, La Playa, Mendo Bistro in the Harbor, and Cowlick's Ice Cream Co. One of our group relaxed with a massage at the Bamboo Garden Spa. One of our group had the "pleasure" of using the services of Northcoast Tire when he bent his tierod on the front wheel of his car, when he misjudged the curb. They were able to order in the part and fix it the next morning. Yeah! We really had a great vacation in a wonderful house in a good location. I would recommend Sea Thistle highly.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Sea Thistle far exceeded our expectations. The location is beautiful and the home is magnificent--a wonderfully relaxing vaction. Everything we needed was there and more. If you have children, there are games, DVDs, and a great rope swing. We loved looking for sea creatures in the tide pools out back. You will not be disappointed with this beautiful property and the owners are very helpful with anything you need. The only thing unpredictable is the fog. Layer up and enjoy your visit!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had an excellent time here and found it to be exactly as described/advertised. The rocky "beach" had awesome tidepools that entertained the kids for hours. Very clean and comfortable. Great kitchen and nearby grocery store made making meals easy. Mellow canoeing & kayaking in the beautiful Big River estuary where we paddled by sea lions and osprey (We rented boats at "Catch A Canoe" 10 minutes from the house). Great walks at nearby state parks. Owners were very helpful and super easy to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When looking for a place to stay in Fort Braggs to do some Abalone diving we stumbled across this incredible Jewel. You are always a little uncertain if the pictures attached are really what you can expect, well in this case, ABSOLUTELY! Plus more. I have stayed at a few rentals in my days and this place is everything plus more. The house provides all the highest quality in amenities for your stay. But what makes it so special are all the little added features. There are multiples areas within the house to hide away with a good book, play games, have a glass of wine or just sit back at enjoy the most spectacular views of the ocean. I could stay here for a weeks and never get bored. The location provided us with options from incredible wine tasting to hanging out in both Fort Braggs and Mendocino. Both towns offering something different. Our time here is something that we will never forget and have decided to make it annual trip. I want to thank both Peggy and Mitch for lettings us share in their beautiful home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautiful home. We are going back next year. The home is very comfortable. The kitchen and great room are great for fixing a meal and telling diving stories. It is right next to a low bluff with easy access to the water. We dove there twice and were very successful including one abalone over 10 inches. I'm sure if you stay here you will enjoy it very much.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family has been going on summer vacations to Fort Bragg, to escape the hot Sacramento Valley heat, since I was a little girl (we used to go tent camping at MacKerricher State Park every summer). Now that I'm an adult, we aren't roughing it so much anymore, but we go "cushy camping" & have turned our coastal getaways into wonderful VRBO stays! I have to say that this lovely "cabin by the sea" was THE BEST coastal vacation home we've stayed in yet to date. To be just a few minutes from town but feel like you're away-from-it-all at the property was wonderful. The ocean views from both inside & outside the home were amazing. This log home felt like a very peaceful, cozy, safe haven to our family. We had such a great time here & we had all the amenities we needed; our stay was very comfortable. We played games, worked puzzles, read books, chatted by the fire, & enjoyed watching the changing tides, the birds, & the young twin fawns & doe that seemed to like the back yard. Geo-caching, beach-combing, kite flying, antiquing, & attending the Mendocino Music & Art/Craft Festivals were some of the fun things we did when out-&-about. The owners were wonderful to work & we would be happy to recommend this property to anyone looking for an amazing Northern California oceanfront getaway in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What an amazing home. The pictures couldn't possibly give the breath taking views justice. The home is well organized and all amenities placed just where you would think they would be. So many little surprises along the way when venturing through this home for the first time. Little reading nooks along the lofted hall way. A viewing tower with telescope. Sitting area's along the bluff out side. A covered outdoor dinning area. And so much more. The owner's are such gracious host. All my needs were met. I would give this property, the owner's input and upkeep to their home 5 stars. I would recomend a visit to this retreat to all. What a pleasant vacation. All the near by attractions, beaches and Noyo Harbor are worth checking out too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay! We ADORE the cabin, and love to hear that others agree! Thanks for your kind words!

We stayed at this beautiful log cabin over Spring Break with all of our daughters. We have rented on VRBO before and have had good experiences, but this one was truly amazing. The owners were helpful and cooperative from the time we started asking questions, and then followed up to make sure our stay was enjoyable. They were available several times during our stay when we had questions about places to visit in the area, where the nearest grocery store was, etc... We can't say enough good about our experience. The quality, decor, amenities, view, ambiance, etc. were all more than we had hoped for. We made most of our meals there because none of us wanted to leave, and the kitchen had plenty of servingware, pots & pans, appliances, etc. for all our needs. The fireplace in the family room was so beautiful; one of our favorite evenings was spent roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. We saw deer walk through the back yard on several occasions, climbed down the bluff to enjoy low tide, and the kids played on the teeter-totter and swing (even our teenager.....) in the backyard every day of our stay. It really is a wonderful place to stay, with plenty of room for a family and so much to enjoy. We can't wait to go back!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

MUST STAY HERE!!!! This home is absolutely gorgeous!! Lots of beautiful detail, inside and out. The feeling is very private, secluded with breathtaking views of the ocean cove upon which it sits. The inside of the home is beautiful with lots of windows and light giving many views of the surrounding land and the cove. Lots of places to sit with a cup of tea and read a book or look out at the crashing waves. We really enjoyed the lookout area on the second floor. The fireplace area is a nice place to gather friends/family to talk or play a game. Our little one had lots of fun exploring the grounds and watching the deer and wild turkey go by the home. There is a sheltered area with a table facing the ocean that was perfect for breakfasts and enjoying a glass of wine in the early evening. We also enjoyed long walks along the quiet, nearby country streets. What makes this a great place to stay is that it is located between Fort Bragg and Mendocino which are just minutes away. We would highly recommend a stay at this amazing home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We stayed in this amazing home in late July, '09. Both the house and location are uniquely beautiful and tranquil...total private and serene. Even our children were captivated by it's beauty....they spent hours playing inside this real-life "Lincoln Log" house and watching the deer graze outside the windows. A perfect location for a family reunion or friends retreat. We'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
