Beautiful Brownstone unit - very close to Forsythe Park and good location for walking. A bit far from Bay Street but cab fare is minimal. We would recommend to friends and stay here again. Thank you, Marie for your hospitality.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time and the house was PERFECT. It is right on the border to the very nice area - the street itself is not fancy but the next street is already much better and then you are right there in Forsyth Park in no time at all. Felt very safe at the house and walking there during the night also - no problem there. The house itself was great and much exceeded our expectations. Highly recommendable for a weekend stay in Savannah!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived on May 13, 2012 and stayed for a week. The Whippet House was just as described in the VRBO.com listing. The downstairs space was quite comfortable for the 4 of us. The living room was spacious and we enjoyed having the separate dining room space. The kitchen had all the modern conveniences of home. Also, having the private outdoor patio space was so enjoyable. Both bedrooms (upstairs) were of a good size. The master bedroom faces the street and has great natural sunlight. Both bedrooms are equipped with great mattresses - which is wonderful after a full day spent walking the historic district! The Whippet House is located on a quiet residential street with only a couple of blocks walk to Forsyth Park. Almost every evening we took long walks arriving back to the townhouse after sunset and we felt completely safe. We found a wonderful restaurant within an easy walk from the townhouse called The Crystal Beer Parlor which we highly recommend. Late arrival into Savannah wasn't an issue since there is a convenient lockbox system on the townhouse. Without hesitation, we would stay at The Whippet House again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed at The Whippet House with family for 8 days and we could not have been more comfortable. There were three adults and two children in our group and there was plenty of room for everyone. The upstairs bedrooms were beautiful and the fold-out in the living room was perfect for the children. The home is beautifully decorated - the old exposed brick in the queen bedroom is charming! You're close to the historic district and within easy walking distance to many parks and restaurants and the owner has lots of helpful information at the house as to things to do and places to go. Onstreet parking was no problem and the private spot behind the house was a great bonus. The kitchen has all the basic pots/pans/utensils you might need. Plus there is a gas grill in the charming courtyard - perfect for a fresh seafood dinner outdoors. Ours was a wonderful experience from start to finish - couldn't ask for a nicer or more helpful proprietor. Highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Arrived on Dec 20 and stayed until Christmas Day. Wish we had planned more days here. Easy to find from the airport, easy access to keys making late evening arrival very pleasant. The master bedroom is a complete dream, including a great bed and nice bedding - sweet dreams. Decor around this beautiful home is lovely - traditional mixed with a little modern - wonderful personal touches that make it truly feel like a home to settle into for your visit. Kitchen is small but gets the job done if you plan to cook or just make coffee and drink wine. If you plan to cook you do need to bring your own spices - only salt, pepper and sugar on hand. Bedrooms are upstairs in case you have trouble with stairs or small children you might worry about. The location is quiet with easy walking distance to the sights of the historic district. We walked everywhere and only used the car to go to the market. Hope to visit again in the future. Thank you to the homeowners for a unique offering. From California, we loved it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Whippet House and loved every minute! The king-sized bed was unbelievably comfortable, resulting in deep and restful sleep for us both. The living room furnishings were very comfortable and inviting. We didn't cook much, but had the basics for what we did - if you require specialized cookware, I would recommend bringing your own. Getting into the property was smooth - we received well-documented instruction on how to retrieve the key from the lockbox, a list of restaurant recommendations, and very clear information on our payment structure. Well done. We had conversations with many of the local folk and got some recommendations for dinner and activities. One we tried was the Six Pence Pub for dinner. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food delicious, and the on-tap selection very nice. Also, we went to the 17Hundred90 Club for Thanksgiving dinner - and have made a mental note to go back the next time we're in Savannah in order to experience their full menu and not just the Thanksgiving buffet (which was excellent, by the way!).Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our four-day stay in Savannah at the end of June was a delightful and memorable experience, made more so by the lovely place we chose to stay. Whippet House is a gracious, inviting, beautifully appointed townhome--hard to pry ourselves away from and lovely to return to after a day of adventures. We lacked for nothing to make us comfortable and well cared-for. Marie has thought of everything, down to the helpful suggestions of things to do and places to visit, which helped us to make the most of our somewhat limited time in Savannah. The property's location, convenient to Forsyth Park and trolley stops, yet just enough removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, was ideal for us, and the private, off-street parking is a terrific amenity. We have recommended Whippet House to several of our friends, and will definitely stay there again when we return to Savannah.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just spent a relaxing weekend with friends at the Whippett House! What a wonderful find! Great location close to the historic district. 2 blocks to lovely Forsyth park with wide walking paths, fountains and a small cafe for breakfast or lunch. You are very close to the CAT or DOT. (Sav. transportation.) and trolley. This is great as parking can be a problem in the Hist. District. The townhome is beautifully furnished and the courtyard charming. Ideal for 2 couples. Very relaxing and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank You Marie! Pat and Bruce May 2010Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family stayed at the Whippet House for a long Easter weekend. The home is wonderfully furnished, with an attention to detail that made it even better than expected. Elegant without fussiness, comfortable and classy. The location is also great, in easy and pleasant walking distance of Forsythe Park, Monterey Square, and many other interesting spots. The owner was accomodating and helpful. One of our best online renting experiences ever.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
