Neighborhood has paved streets, great for walking, cycling, and a short drive to beaches, warm pool, lava viewing, restaurants. ~ 25 mi from University of Hawaii. A perfect home base for visiting the wonderful sites of the Big Island.
This house is a great rainforest retreat - a true getaway. If you need cable TV, this is NOT the house for you. Give yourself the gift of a real vacation.

I am fortunate to be an instructor at the University of Hawaii one (or more) semesters per year, and the balance of the year I am a CPA in North Carolina. I bought the building lot in 2005, and my son and I (with some help) built this house. Our Pahoa hale is not just a rental house - it is truly our second home. We hope that it will feel like home to you when you stay.
Why the Owner Chose Pahoa
This home was the perfect solution to my need for regular housing near my seasonal work at UHH. Since it is not being used for several months of the year, it seemed appropriate to make it available to other visiting academics and those who want a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The environment around our home is very serene. It is not meant to be fussy or over-the-top, just nice and clean and comfortable. Leilani is a family neighborhood, not a resort community. The sound of the birds by day and the frogs by night lend themselves to quiet activities, reading, and best of all sleeping. The night sky is magnificent!
