Location: Caseville, East Central, Michigan, USA
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)
Keywords: House
The cottage is within one mile of the Village of Caseville located on 12 wooded acres with 250 feet of beach frontage on Saginaw Bay 1200 feet from the highway on a private road. Once in a while, early in the morning or late in the evening some deer will visit. We have even seen wild turkeys or a bald eagle or two. It has been our getaway for more than 60 years with the current year round house having been built in the early sixties. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 sofa-beds in the living room,
It is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Detroit. Perfect for families who just want to relax, play on the beach and watch the sunset.
The great thing about our home is the privacy. It is also great for kids with a large lawn for games like bocce ball, lawn games or just playing catch. The sandy beach is large where kids can play safely away from the water's edge. It is also great for fires at night, marsh mellow and hot dog roasts. There are no rocks in the water or drop offs--just a gradual deepening of 100 yards or more.
Caseville has a movie house, several good casual places to eat, plus, in the summer season, all sorts of boat and kayak rentals, miniature golf, batting cage, bumper boats and a giant slide for non beach activities. There are also boat rentals and charters to take full advantage of the perch and near by salmon fishing. There are also two public golf courses in the area. The City pier and public beach is a 15 minute walk along the shoreline from our place. Port Austin is a short drive away to add to the list of things to do including 2 fine dining restaurants..
Please bring your own towels and linens. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. There will be a $250 refundable cleaning/damage/security deposit.

This was a getaway that was completely comfortable, relaxing, and worry free. It was not fancy at all, as a matter of fact, it was a little retro in furnishings and decor, but I loved it and felt the 'family' vibe. I loved the family pictures, the little touches in the house that were so personal. It was like visiting your family cottage with bits and pieces from different members of the group there to share with you. The house was furnished with far more kitchenware that could ever be needed, the beds were comfortable, cable tv worked great, the house was well maintained and we experienced no problems whatsoever. There was a notebook giving instructions and names and numbers to contact in emergencies. There was even suggestions of surrounding restaurants and activities in the book. I loved the two dining room tables! So much room to spread out and work on my projects. Perfect for a crafters getaway, or a scrapbooking weekend! A "Girls Weekend" retreat would be perfect here. The area is great, lots to do and a fantastic beach, and the SUNSETS!! Wow! A real treat! Not for the person that wants the latest and most current furnishings, but for the person that really wants to relax and enjoy themselves without worrying. The owners were very accommodating and anxious to make sure our time there was enjoyable. The area is beautiful and there is so much to do in the area. We came in the early winter, but there were still plenty to do and several restaurants and stores were still open. We had a great time and can't wait to return again next year. Thank you for a great getaway!
Owner response:Caseville will aways be our home. The present house was built in the 1960's, but the property has been our family's retreat,, summer and winter, for more than 60 years. We wouldn't change a thing about it. There are just too many memories. It is time to share them with others. We hope that others will make their own memories.

We just got home from our wonderful vacation. I want to thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful vacation home!! It served our group very well--lots of space for the kids. Everything was so clean when we arrived, we felt at home right away!! The beach area and the lake are beautiful, and the sunsets were unbelievable!! We spent more time in the water this vacation than we ever did before. One thing we forgot there is a large amount of freshly caught walleye--we were very bummed when we realized it. But--it's in the freezer if you are interested or if you know of anyone who might be. It's all filleted and ready to be cooked and eaten. If not it can be thrown away. Also, we are very interested in returning next year. We've been doing this for many years already with our kids, and we are looking for a long term vacation rental. Are you planning on offering your home for rent for a few more years?? Let me know--we really would like to come back next year, if you'll have us. So, thanks again, and I will wait to hear back from you.

Hello Mr. Bellanca, Hope all is well with you. Our family stayed at your Caseville home the first week of August this past summer. We had a wonderful time and the kids would like to go back again next year. I checked the calendar on the VRBO web site and found that the dates we were hoping for are still available. Would you consider renting us your home again? The dates we are looking at are arriving on Sunday, July 31 and leaving on Thursday morning, August 4th. If you are willing to let us "invade" again, please let me know and I will send you a deposit check. I hope you enjoy the pictures, we all (young and old) enjoyed the beach! Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Cathy S

Hi Jim, Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that we really enjoyed staying at the Caseville home. It was so comfortable and so accomodating to our needs. There were the 6 adults and 6 kids and with the size and layout of the house, we never felt crowded or cramped. The two tables made meals a breeze as did the huge charcoal grill. We also really liked the idea of the bathroom and shower in the garage. What a great idea. It kept the majority of the sand out of the house itself. We left the house key in the key box on the door. We actually opened the door and put the key right back in the key box. That way we had no chance of locking ourselves out by accident! The power outage on Saturday night was disappointing since it was our last night but we made the best of it and built a fire in the sandpit and made smores. We actually had fires everynight and the stars in the sky were amazing. I did go to the party store as you suggested and they had little battery operated lanterns and I bought 6 of them. They worked out really well. I understand that you have no control over unexpected events like this. Since you so kindly offered to reimburse me for the items (they were $7.29 each total $43.74), I left them at the house so if they are needed again, they are there. Thanks again for sharing your home with us. Everyone is already talking about coming back next year. It's nice that you are letting other families make memories of their own in your wonderful vacation home.

Just to let you know the cottage was a wonderful relaxing spot to spend time away from it all! It was so very peaceful and very welcoming. The weather was cold, but the view from the kitchen and living room was beautiful. Two great sunsets and a family of four deer munching on grass in the backyard up close and personal! Great highlights of the time spent there. Thank you for sharing your family getaway!

This cottage was a great place to stay on our family vacation. It was clean and spacious. It was also very well stocked and we could find anything we needed for cooking our meals. The private beach in front was great for spending the day playing in the sand and the local park was a close walk for playground time. The water was warm with many sandbars to play on. Overall a wonderful place to stay.
Owner response:The property has been in our family for 60 years. The current cottage replaces the one that we lost to a fire in the early 1960's. All of the children numbering 3 generations in our family played on on that beach. We are so happy you and your family enjoyed it. Thank you.
