  We stayed in this house from 3/1/2011 to 6/1/2011 for 4 month as a german family with two kids when we had a visiting scholarship at SUNY in Stony Brook. We had been on LI on similar occasions before but this was our greatest home. The owners were very helpful and we enjoyed the fantastic site of the property, the beach, the hiking possibilities and everything else. We loved the cottage-style of the house with all its flair and warmth. It is indeed a very special place and will now have a place in our hearts because of all the good experiences we made there. The school district, shopping opportunities and way to the City - its all fantastic.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  Thank you for a great place to spend a relaxing week. I think we walked the beach twice a day and the whole family loved it. The view from the living room was great and we loved sitting by the fire and looking out at the water. Really great. We will be back again next year.

  We stayed at the house early this spring with our two children and we all had a great time. We explored the beach and nearby state park and really enjoyed our stay. The house has a wonderful view of LI Sound and we had a great time one day watching a storm roll through. The bedrooms are comfortable and although the kitchen was a little small it had everything we needed. If you want a great place on LI and with very nice owners then I recommend this house.

  My family rented this property for 4 days in winter and had problems. There was no access to the property from the street where the address is listed nor did the owner give directions, nor did he answer his phone for 2 hours as we drove about searching after dark exactly at the time he said he would be available. There was no key provided so the house was not lockable with our stuff inside. The driveway was not shoveled and had over a foot of snow in it, though it had some tiretracks. The kitchen is tiny and had no microwave. After we left the property well cleaned and undamaged, the owner refuses to answer phone calls or emails from us and has not returned our security deposit within the 30 days on the contract. It is over 60 days now and we are forced to enter legal proceedings.

  Our family and friends have enjoyed the solitude of this lovely home away from home. There are books, games, many comfortable beds and bathrooms to accommodate a party of 6. The view from the comfortable family room is spectacular. The house is a short stroll to a secluded North Shore of Long Island beach. If you have the time, take a hike through the nature preserve to see birds and listen to the sound of the sea and the marsh. We love this great retreat from city life. My husband and I treated our high school senior and a few of his friends to a very special early summer weekend of star gazing, swimming in the sound and strolling on the beach at night.
